Beautiful house on wonderful private property with woods behind and on either side.

  • 4 of 5

This was a beautiful property with woods and privacy on a quiet culdesac. We didn't want to take a long hike on our first day there, so loved going to the waterfall right on the property and then to the Grove of the Patriarchs. We were there a month and never had to use the AC because the house was so cool. The kitchen was very nice with all kinds of amenities. The owner was very nice and helpful whenever we needed her. Only one recommendation - Chairs on the balcony and more furniture on the deck. It was a beautiful deck and would have loved to have had a few meals on it.

We saw lots of elk almost every day, either near town or right outside of it. Of course, we loved the hiking , and went to Packwood Lake, Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helen's among other wonderful places.

Great cabin with luxury interior

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was easy to find, clean and well-maintained. very quiet surrounding. The cosy open fire reminded us of our stays in cabins in Norway. The cabin is ideal starting point for short hikes directly behind the house, the vicinity of Packwood (Great hike to Packwood Lake!) and for longer rides to Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens. Marilyn's recommendation of Blue Spruce Saloon was accurate! If it wasn't so far from Germany, we would like to come more often.

Better Than The Pictures

  • 5 of 5

3 Couples had a great time in this amazing cabin. The large kitchen is very well stocked. Everything is new, clean, and very comfortable. We had just enough snow to build snowmen, went on some great hikes just out the back gate, and enjoyed the extensive movie collection. We would all come back again and recommend to others!!!

Perfect ski-weekend getaway in peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

Two of us had a quiet getaway in this beautiful home for the early part of ski season at White Pass. The access to the ski area is any easy drive just up the highway. The cabin is at the end of a rural road among tall trees in a very quiet setting. The whole place is very well designed with wide open spaces, yet grouped furniture so two people can have an intimate time, and large parties can separate into groups for games or tv, but also be all together in one great room. The kitchen is huge and modern with every convenience - a great pleasure to cook in with space for multiple people and prep areas. The top floor is a luxurious master suite. It rained the whole time we were there, so I didn't go on the trails, but sat out on the wrap-around deck under cover just listening to the rain falling on the trees. I also took some beautiful photos of an elk herd in a meadow less than a mile from the cabin! I highly recommend this accommodation. Although we were only here in winter, it seems perfect for any season.

Tips:

- check WSDOT for road closures on Hwy 12 before heading to the ski area

- the wine bottle opener is in a wood box next to the wine glasses (wasn't immediately obvious to us)

- Verizon appears to have cell coverage here while other carriers reportedly don't

We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, well appointed "cabin"!

  • 5 of 5

To say this beautiful home is a cabin is an understatement. It's a well appointed, beautifully designed home in the woods. My husband and I spent 4 nights with 2 other couples in the Olmsted's cabin, with plenty of room to "breath", yet still be able to enjoy the common area as a group for games or watching movies.

Amenities: Everything was as described, plus Marilyn has thought of everything you could want for cooking meals at in the great kitchen in the cabin.

Maintenance/cleanliness: The cabin is very well taken care of and very clean

Marilyn was extremely responsive to any questions or concerns that I had. Her typical response time via email was less than 2 hours.

A couple of tips:

* All 6 of us didn't have a single bar of cell service the entire time we were in Packwood (At&T and T-Mobile) - print your stay details out in advance so you don't have to rely on cell data!

* Throw blankets are in the ottoman in the living room

* The internet is a bit slow, especially if multiple devices are using it at once

* There are 2 great trails directly behind the cabin

In short, everyone loved the vacation and we'll definitely book the cabin in the future if we find ourselves considering the area.

We had a wonderful stay w/our friends in this beautiful home celebrating life! So convenient to Packwood and the annual Packwood Swap Meet and Sale. The kitchen was divine....we made every meal at the house over the 3 days. So many special touches and amenities....loved the Jacuzzi tub, fireplace and beautiful setting. A great get-away!
