Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week at Surchin's End. The cottage was all we had hoped for -- peaceful, spacious, comfortable, thoughtfully decorated and equipped, lovely. Just right for cooking, eating in, and planning our next adventure. A tranquil water and mountain view from the deck, Adirondack chairs near the water, interesting books and places to read and write, and wonderful artwork throughout made this a special place that felt like home. The location was quite convenient -- great for exploring all that the Schoodic area has to offer, but close enough to Bar Harbor and MDI for day trips and dinners. I especially recommend checking out the Frenchman's Bay Conservancy's map of short hikes and the Park Service's new bike/multi-use trails at Schoodic Woods. The Schoodic area is beautiful, quiet, and restorative. We hiked up Baker Hill, which has spectacular views of Frenchman's Bay, and saw only one other person. There were more things to see and do than we could cram into a week, and we hope to return.

Surchin's End

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful stay at Surchin's End. The house had everything and more that we could possibly need. Both my husband and I are artists so the decor of original artwork, lovely linens, and tasteful accessories was so appreciated.

We harvested mussels, saw otter, beaver, porcupine, Eagles. Watched osprey soar and fish in the cove.

Dianne was great answering all of my inquires and did I mention the house was absolutely spotless!

Highly recommend Surchin's End!

Well keep Cottage, Easy to Fine, Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Thanks for the stay, the location was great and very quit with a view of Acadia Nat Park. Everything in the cottage to make you feel at home. Easy location to take day trip up and down the coast and visit all the beautiful lobster villages. Lots of good restaurants, we did eat out a lot. went up in tower at Bucksport Bridge, toured Acadia, , Schoodic Point, Boat trip out of Northeast Harbor, Trip up to Lubec Me and over to FDR's summer home. Can't put everything down but hope to return again and would call Dianne first. Thanks Dianne for helping us have a great trip. will pass your name along to friends. Oh we did get to see Wormers digging for worms, that was an extra to see. Thanks again, Richard & Friends

Total Relaxation on the Quiet Side of Acadia

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful vacation at Surchin’s End. With the Schoodic side of Acadia Park only minutes away, we hiked or waded along the shore every day. Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor are an easy day trip (we made it four times during our stay). Nevertheless, returning to a quiet haven at the end of each day made busy side of Acadia Park much more enjoyable for us. The cottage met our every need and was the centerpiece of a perfect vacation.

This house is amazing

  • 5 of 5

This house is beautiful. The pictures are completely accurate. I've never been in a rental home that was as CLEAN and gorgeous as this one. The furniture is all gorgeous and very comfortable, the king bed is great (didn't use the other ones) the art is really interesting and the kitchen....OH THE KITCHEN! The kitchen has things in it I didn't even know I wanted to use until I used them. Every size pan, pot, plate, glass, mug, salad spinner, blender, coffee maker, espresso maker, etc etc. It is ALSO fully stocked with things like olive oil, vinegar, spices, etc. The porch and views are beautiful and everything is comfortable. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it.
