We are originally from the St. Louis area. Leon, from Affton and Cheryl from Pacific. We lived in Pacific, Mo and bought Lost Weekend in 1999 and until 2001 we were 'part timers'. Owning a home but only using it on weekends. We then sold our cleaning business 'ServiceMaster' and moved to the lake full time in 2001. Then starting all over, we opened another 'ServiceMaster'.
Finally, in 2012 we sold that business and moved to Cape Coral, Florida full time and have since retired. We are enjoying the sunshine, the beach and retirement!
Leon & Cheryl Haberberger purchased this house in 1999
We love the privacy of the property. That lay of the land is flat. No stairs! You can even drive right to the boat dock if you need to unload coolers, etc.
There is lots of wildlife. The deer are in abundance year round. They usually will drop by early in the morning or early evening.
Privacy, on the water, and no stairs!
Waking up in the morning and smiling knowing that you are at the lake:
RESTING, RELAXING, & GETTING
LOST FOR THE WEEKEND!
Our stay here was AWESOME! We had grandparents, parents, kids and grand babies. Space was perfect for all 12 of us. Weather was AWESOME. We rented a pontoon one day, went into Osage Beach for shopping one day and just enjoyed ourselves the other day. Thanks for having a large enough space for the whole family.
We had a great time at Lost Weekend. The house met all our needs for space, plus individuals were able to get away from the group if they wanted. The house was clean and had plenty of outdoor furniture. The window seat was a favorite place to sit! Unfortunately for us, there was quite a bit of rain (mostly overnight) so we weren't able to have a fire or play many lawn games, but since we spent most of our time boating it wasn't a big deal for us. Leon and Cheryl were just a phone call away and very responsive.
We just returned from a wonderful week at this spacious home. The living space (kitchen/great room) is amazing. There are many "separate" areas for visiting, playing games, and laying around..... We enjoyed the NO STAIRS to the dock, and were able to get my 94 year old father down to the boat with no issues. Although there are 4 stairs down to the patio area, he had no issues as the porch is very sturdy for him to use to "hold on". It is a quiet cove, but fairly shallow, so we actually did most of our 'floating" by taking the boat out to a another nearby cove. My nephew was able to catch enough nice size catfish over the week right off the dock that we were able to have a fish fry. The 3 refrigerators and separate freezer were wonderful for our group, cutting down on trips for ice. We had a fair amount of teenagers, so at the end of the week, when everyone was here and the "adults" all had their own bedrooms, we used the 2 twin mattresses in the master closet and two blow up mattresses and made the living room a bit of a dormitory. Worked great. We had a couple of questions early in the week, and Leon and Cheryl addressed them very quickly. Thanks to them, we had a successful FUN week! We find it hard to go out for meals with this large of group, so we took a couple of boat trips during the day and visited Redhead Yacht Club and Paradise, which are very close and fun for a change. Some of us played golf at Sycamore Creek a couple times (about a half an hour away), which has beautiful scenery, is reasonably priced, and is great for groups of golfers who are varying in skill... The Woods Grocery (large) and a Dollar General are close by (10 minutes). We took a trip to the strip, but it seems to me the strip has less and less to do each year. Great ice cream at Grandpa's though!!! I'd highly recommend this home to family groups with varying ages of children. Thanks Leon and Cheryl!
We booked this place for my In-Laws 40th Anniversary! The place was amazing! The kids loved fishing off the dock every evening.....kids poles seemed to do better than the adult poles. The house was great, we had 14 in our party and never used the the extra house, we had plenty of room in the main house!!
There were 16 of us at the "lost weekend" house. Nice accommodations. Large kitchen and separate bungalow was perfect for one family with smaller (napping) children. Large shaded area between house and dock for outside games. No steps to get in the house or to the dock for mature adults. Great access to boat rentals and grocery store.
The home was excellent. It was nicely furnished, comfortable and not lacking for anything. The little notes dispersed throughout the home were a nice touch.
We had a wonderful time with our family at Lost Weekend. The weather was great and our grandkids had so much fun fishing from the dock. There was plenty of room for all 15 of us to spend time together for meals and games. We rented a pontoon boat one day and spent time on the lake sightseeing and swimming. Thanks for letting us unwind at this "home away from home".
