About Linda Ertel or Ernie Ertel

We have been married since 1967 and have one special daughter and son in law who light up our lives. We looked up and down the southwest coast of Florida for the perfect locations to spend some of our future vacations and perhaps retirement someday. We have always loved being near the beach. We were property owners on Emerald Isle, North Carolina and loved going there with family and friends for vacation. We now have a vacation home in Sarasota and love to imagine other happy families enjoying the pool and making wonderful vacation memories. We were so inspired that we decided to buy another house in Port Charlotte. This time we were looking for a house on a canal for boating and fishing.

Linda Ertel or Ernie Ertel purchased this house in 2014

Why Linda Ertel or Ernie Ertel chose Port Charlotte

It is well known that Port Charlotte is a fast emerging destination for those who are looking for the 'perfect' vacation rental. This community has invested millions in infrastructure to bring tourism and folks who want to live here permanently. The harbor has been developed for ideal fishing, boating and beach experiences. Warm throughout the year, it affords the perfect climate especially during the winter months. We picked this location for all these reasons. Coming from the Midwest we also wanted the rural pleasure of lots of trees and greenery. Port Charlotte has all the restaurants and shops of a large city yet there remains a country feeling as one drives by open spaces not yet developed. Our backyard canal is the perfect way to explore the many waterways whether you fish or simply want to go boating. It is a safe protected entry to the harbor. We also wanted a community that included a cultural environment. Great musical and artistic experiences are available. For the golfers, Port Charlotte has fantastic courses that are affordable. We wanted to be near the major highways such as I-75 that takes you quickly through Florida but far enough away to feel countryside solitude. You will notice that our house is on a road that has many open lots that are wooded and peaceful. We wanted it all and we found it here.

What makes this house unique

Port Charlotte is a place where everyone is from somewhere else.

The winter months are wonderful after coming from the cold northern states. The fishing and boating is incredible.

Wonderful Outdoor Space

  • 5 of 5

I always enjoy this lovely home. I am a pool person and this is an excellent pool. Unfortunately, I did not get to laze around the pool as I planned - Hurricane Irma!! I had to leave. The house survived with no damage. The owners graciously offered me another week, but I was unable to return due to some family issues. However, I will definitely be back next year!

The Perfect Location, Great House!

  • 5 of 5

This location was perfect for a family reunion spanning four generations. The house condition is excellent, the pool is wonderful and the space perfect for full group meals, private conversations, personal quite time, and entertainment.

We used this as a base to shop, visit the beach, walk, go kayaking, group meals, visiting restaurants and sitting by the pool or dock. It also provided a base to visit a family member in a nearby senior housing complex.

We enjoyed everything about this house. The owners and caretakers were great to work with. They answered questions quickly, immediately responded to a need we encountered and provided a clean, quiet environment.

Thankfully we chose this house for our gathering!

We Loved Our Home Away From Home!

  • 5 of 5

This house is super comfortable and stocked with pretty much all that you need, barring groceries! The house is lovely, with a great floor plan, comfortably furnished with a King bed in the master bedroom, a Queen in one of the guest bedrooms and twin beds in the third bedroom. The King bed had a comfortable topper on it, making it soft and comfy, but you can always remove it if you like a firmer sleep surface. We never even went into the living room, which is huge and furnished with sofas that can be used as additional sleeping areas for guests. The kitchen was great, and so were the appliances. We used the ice and filtered water from the fridge constantly and it never ran out of ice. We loved having a washer and a dryer to use, and we did indeed use them. The TV room or family room is open to the kitchen, making it easy to get snacks from the kitchen, and it was fun to watch tv and be able to talk to hubby from the kitchen. We could not get the Blu-ray player to work, but a phone call to the property managers resulted in Laurie and Paul coming over to try to get it to work themselves. It was a brand new unit, but as we all know, electronics are tricky sometimes. They intended to return the faulty unit to the store where purchased and get a new one. It was no big deal at all, and Laurie even offered to reimburse us for the $2.14 we spent to rent a movie from the Red Box machine at Publix! You can't ask for better customer service than that! The garage door didn't work, but Laurie and Paul immediately took care of that too and voila! A working garage door....allowing us to park inside the garage, which was convenient and nice. Laurie and Paul are wonderful, and they could not have been nicer, or more informative and helpful! We intend to stay in touch with them! I have to get to the best part.....the POOL! Oh my, but it was spacious enough to paddle around in comfortably, and the water was very comfortable in temperature. I LOVED the pool and I found it the perfect size and depth, easy access too. Phil spent many hours outside while I swam, comfortable on the patio furniture, with the outside fans on (3 of them!) while reading and sipping a cold beverage. It was very very pleasant! The house is ideally situated, easy access to the Tamiami Trail (Route 41) as everything can be found on that food, grocery shopping, chain restaurants and beaches an easy drive. We loved our stay!

Fisherman's Paradise

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at this perfect location in Port Charlotte. Convenient to supermarkets and other shopping. The owners were fantastic with communication leading up to our stay as well as during if needed. The house was in great condition and the Lanai and pool area is a very relaxing place to spend your time after a day of fishing. I look forward to a return visit!
