About Linda Ertel or Ernie Ertel

We have been married since 1967 and have one special daughter and son in law who light up our lives. We looked up and down the southwest coast of Florida for the perfect locations to spend some of our future vacations and perhaps retirement someday. We have always loved being near the beach. We were property owners on Emerald Isle, North Carolina and loved going there with family and friends for vacation. We now have a vacation home in Sarasota and love to imagine other happy families enjoying the pool and making wonderful vacation memories. We were so inspired that we decided to buy another house in Port Charlotte. This time we were looking for a house on a canal for boating and fishing.

Why Linda Ertel or Ernie Ertel chose Florida South Central Gulf Coast

It is well known that Port Charlotte is a fast emerging destination for those who are looking for the 'perfect' vacation rental. This community has invested millions in infrastructure to bring tourism and folks who want to live here permanently. The harbor has been developed for ideal fishing, boating and beach experiences. Warm throughout the year, it affords the perfect climate especially during the winter months. We picked this location for all these reasons. Coming from the Midwest we also wanted the rural pleasure of lots of trees and greenery. Port Charlotte has all the restaurants and shops of a large city yet there remains a country feeling as one drives by open spaces not yet developed. Our backyard canal is the perfect way to explore the many waterways whether you fish or simply want to go boating. It is a safe protected entry to the harbor. We also wanted a community that included a cultural environment. Great musical and artistic experiences are available. For the golfers, Port Charlotte has fantastic courses that are affordable. We wanted to be near the major highways such as I-75 that takes you quickly through Florida but far enough away to feel countryside solitude. You will notice that our house is on a road that has many open lots that are wooded and peaceful. We wanted it all and we found it here.

What makes this house unique

Port Charlotte is a place where everyone is from somewhere else.

The winter months are wonderful after coming from the cold northern states. The fishing and boating is incredible.

great stay

  • 5 of 5

It was an extremely hot week with a mid 90's temp spell. The air would only go to 82 so we called Donna, the property mngr. Help was here in 10 min and the problem was resolved. We are here in the area for the first time, and the location of this property was really great. There is nothing you could want or need that was not within a few minute commute.

Accommodations are top notch. The owners obviously replace any needed items with primo amenities like wonderful memory foam mattress toppers, plenty, plenty of kitchen utensils from caphalon and Paula Dean.

Grandkids arrived the next day, ages 6 & 7, and immediately opted for the new dock with "Trec" synthetic decking. Their first attempt for crabbing and fishing was truly memorable. The heavy duty commercial crab traps negated my need to assemble my own. Six feisty blue claws treated our novices to a giggling, excited new experience.

Apparently, former guests saw fit to leave an array of condiments and basics that delayed our need to visit the local Walmart and Publix.

Our niece, owner od the Nauti Parrot, a waterfront restaurant in North Fort Meyers, stopped by to drop off a personal item. She marveled at the poolside furniture and lighting, as well as our very practical selection for our 4 day vacation. When we visited her restaurant the next evening, we found several servers and bar patrons inquiring about VRBO, and how to find such a hidden gem.

To borrow a quote from Gen. MacArthur and Arnold S, "I'll be back".

Very Clean and Comfortable Home

  • 4 of 5

We stayed a week at this Port Charlotte home and enjoyed every minute. The home was very clean, had fresh linens and all types of supplies. The beds were very comfortable and the TV's in each room added an extra luxury. The pool and patio area was the focus point of the house and we were there most of the time other than visiting the near by beaches. Pool was very clean and the patio furniture was very comfortable and new. We cooked on the barbecue several nights and enjoyed the evenings. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a family home near the beach to spend a very nice week.

Fantastic property right on the canal, with awesome pool area!

This was a great place to stay. It truly felt like a home away from home. It was clean and pretty well kept. Fisherman's Village was mentioned on a note they had left on the fridge, so we decided to go there. It was a great little shop/restaurant area that we would have never know about if not for their little note. If we are ever in the Port Charlotte area again, we will surely book this again!
