This beautiful cabin is one level, 1300sf cabin and right next to Cheyenne Creek. You will sleep peacefully next to the creek, crisp fresh air, and huge trees surround the cabin. Very private off street neighborhood, quiet, no traffic. A wonderful vacation property within walking distance of the Broadmoor Hotel and Cheyenne Canyon State Park, six miles to downtown Colorado Springs. All linens supplied laundry, utilities, and cable.
Well behaved pets always welcome, small enclosed yard.
I have lived in The Roomy Cabin on the Creek for the past sixteen years and enjoy vacation renting it as well. The cabin is fully furnished with three bedrooms and has all the amenities of home. The cabin is very quiet and peaceful, the creek is a blessing.
Christine Dowdell purchased this cabin in 1999
A beautiful home in Colorado Springs.
Fresh sweet rocky mountain air.
Great location and wonderfully outfitted. The neighbors are great including the four legged ones! Will come back!
DO NOT STAY HERE! The owner is hostile, rude, unprofessional, and quite frankly extremely dishonest. She is not refunding our full deposit as she says she had to clean the carpets due to smoke damage. That is ridiculous! WE ARE NON-SMOKERS. We lit a candle one night to celebrate my daughters birthday. Look at a past review about carpet cleaning. She uses people's deposit to clean her carpets by falsely claiming damage. I am a retired school teacher. I have never been so insulted and upset regarding a property. The only reason we stayed here was because it was dog friendly. The fireplace she advertised did not work, and the dishwasher wasn't working either until we had to go under the sink and fix. The front yard was very very small and quite unkept. Before we left I cleaned, and I mean CLEANED the cabin for two hours before we left. I am a clean freak and wiped everything down with clorox wipes. I did two loads of laundry and had one folded for Christine so that she could make beds for her next arrival. She said the house "stunk" and said I cooked curry, (which was extremely racist), of which I did NOT. We cooked steak on the BBQ outside. WE MOVED THE BBQER to the very small yard which she said we did not. The BBQer was filthy and we had to clean it before we used it. We baked two items in the oven in foil. The deck is a death trap for my older dog (we had to put up two gates because of drop offs into the creek below) or for children. I sent Christine pictures of a spotless cabin. She even admitted the house was "fine" in a text. This experience will make me very cautious of who to rent from in the future. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
I rented this unit for 4 days while I was working out of town. I booked a place that allows pets in case my wife came to visit and brought our dog. She did not visit and there was never a pet in the home. I received an email informing me that all of my deposit will be withheld because of pet urine stains. There is another bad review stating the exact same thing happened to them in December of 2016. Lesson - this person will steal your deposit money if you say you are bringing a pet, regardless of any damage or not. People like this should be put in jail.
We were looking forward to our stay in the Cheyenne Canyon cabin- although the website said check in was at 1pm, we were texted to say we needed to check in after 4pm (check out was also changed from 11am as listed to 10am). That was fine, we found other things to do before 4pm. When we arrived, the cabin was in excellent condition- perfect for our needs! The only problems we encountered were with the rather old TV and playing a DVD we had brought from home and the wonderful fireplace we had hoped would work (it appears to be a gas unit). We texted Christine about both but never received a response. When we received the refund for our deposit, she had taken money out for a pet stain to clean the carpets. We always check both for anything we might have left behind and anything out pet might have left behind and we were certain there were no issues. I emailed Christine about this- again, no response. Although I realize some people are probably cavalier about leaving a mess in someone else's property, it would seem if that were the case the owner should contact the renters to state there was a problem.
My friend and I enjoyed our comfortable, homey stay at the Roomy Cabin. It was clean, spacious and quiet. Deer visited daily. We even saw a doe and her two fawns just yards from the cabin on our drive back from our days adventure! Very convenient location to Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Helen Hunt Falls and all that Colorado Springs has to offer. The fall colors were so outstanding we took two trips to Cripple Creek that is about a 50 minute drive away. Great photo opportunities! Christine always responded quickly to any questions we had, sent valuable information before our stay concerning weather, places to see within minutes of the cabin, grocery stores etc., as well as refunding the damage deposit the same day of departure. We would definitely stay again and recommend it highly!
I spent a couple of days in the cabin while preparing for a meeting. It was a warm and comfortable place. Plan to return someday!
