This beautiful furnished Log Cabin is the perfect getaway for trip to the Black Hills! With features such as a heated garage, wood burning fire place and wrap-around deck, you`ll never want to leave!
Main level has living area with flat screen TV, DVD player, Wood-burning fireplace, open dining-living-kitchen area and walk-out to the wrap-around deck. Bathroom with shower is located on the main level as well as the washer/dryer.
Upstairs is an open loft with 2 queen beds and a bedroom with queen bed. Lower level is the heated garage available on request and the 2nd bathroom with shower.
Having never been to South Dakota, I was concerned about the location that I had selected with this cabin. Upon arrival, we couldn't have been more pleased!
It was about a 10-15 minute drive down into Lead for dinner. A 5 minute walk from the Mickelson Trail (near the Englewood trailhead). 2 hours from the Badlands. 30 minutes from Spearfish. And although there were other cabins on the small dead-end road, we didn't see another traveler there all week!
The home was in great condition, with everything we could've needed. Plenty of towels, extra pillows and blankets, even coffee and condiments in the fridge. There were "only" four channels on the TV, but the reception was beautiful - and we weren't there to watch TV anyway.
I certainly wouldn't recommend this home to the elderly - too many stairs. I know our parents in their 70's would have had difficulty. The "basement" housed the two car garage (which we did not use) and a 3/4 bath. The main floor had a living room with a comfy couch and double reclining chair, the dining area, fireplace, kitchen, full bath, washer & dryer (which was great to have), a bedroom with a Queen bed, and of course the wraparound porch with a grill and smoker. The loft had a bedroom with a full (or Queen?) bed, and the main loft area with two full size beds and a small deck. We slept there with the deck door open and slept to the sound of the rushing brook below.
The only things about this home that we didn't care for was the lighting into stairway and hall of the basement was very poor. I might suggest labeling! There are SO many lightswitches in this home, a few with labels, it would be helpful to just read and click instead of trial and error (and error, and error!). Also, while there was a Jacuzzi tub in the main bath, we are shower people. And the stall showers are just so tiny. Unforgiveable if you're trying to get a quick shower at the end of the day without washing your hair! And leg shaving in a shower stall is difficult at best. That being said, those are our only complaints and we would rent here again in a heartbeat! Had a terrible storm one night and the hail on the metal roof was about ear-splitting, but it was kind of fun to watch the lightning.
Definitely need 4WD in winter, I'd say! We wish we were able to use the fire pit, but we got home too late every night from our daily adventures. We loved this property and plan on returning!
This cabin was beautiful. We had a great stay. It was close to Skiing and tubing as well as snowmobile rentals. The amenities provided in the cabin went above and beyond. Thank you for sharing your home.
