About Patty Squires

This is such a beautiful area where my children and I did a lot of camping when they were small. One of my sons settled here after going to UNCA where he met his wife.

He found this property for me, and I bought it just from seeing the photos. There was a small house and two out buildings that he completely rebuilt, and since I love making a warm and welcoming home I decided to rent the 2 out buildings for weekend vacationers.

Patty Squires purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Patty Squires chose Asheville Area

The property is very unique with a large, natural pond and small mountain stream. A dock over the pond, deck surrounding the cabin, and fireside seats and benches provide quaint comfort to enjoy the views and bask in the beauty of the inspiring Blue Ridge Mountains. There is so much tranquility here and yet you are only minutes from downtown Asheville.

What makes this cabin unique

I knew I had made the right decision to retire here from the first time I stepped onto the property. It just felt like the home I had always dreamed of.

Close to the city, but peaceful

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was perfect for our needs. It was close to Asheville, but far enough away that we were in the forest. This is not a cabin in the backwoods, but your privacy will be protected, and it was quiet at night.

Adorable cabin, deluxe accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time to stay in the Lily Pad. As always, Patty has the extra touches that make our stay great! From the bottle of wine awaiting our arrival to the spa-like toiletries, everything is perfect! We love sitting on our private deck listening to music, enjoying the sites and sounds of the pond and the mountains. We will be back soon!

No Electricity, A/C or Running Water..Frustrating Experience!

  • 1 of 5

Property owner expected to us to "deal" with the situation of no power, water or a/c when a bad storm knocked out the electricity until early the next day. Mind you, this was our 10th Anniversary, middle of the summer and my wife is 6 months pregnant. We couldn't even get to the property until 9:30 pm. due to the blocked road.

I do understand that these things were out of her control. However, her response to the situation was far below adequate. She should have made other accommodations (which we ourselves did by getting a hotel room for the night) or refunded our money. She did neither. I do not appreciate being expected to pay for service that we did not receive. You should not expect your customers to put up with the lack of basic necessity in a vacation rental. This is not how you run a hospitality business. I have made a formal complaint against this property owner, since she did not remedy the situation when requested.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry that I was not able to meet your expectations. For those reading this review here is the review from guests in the other cabin on my property from that same night. My husband and I stayed here for a weekend honeymoon and had a great experience! There was a storm the first night and the power was out for several hours, but Patty provided some water and candles for us to use, along with a flashlight. This was very helpful. The second night was much nicer since the power was back on and the water and AC were working. Patty was a gracious hostess and provided what we needed to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. I recommend staying here if you're looking for a quiet, cozy place!

My husband and I spent three wonderful nights in the Lily Pad Cottage. It was clean and very comfortable. Close to Asheville and wonderful day hikes around the Mountains. We would defiantly come back to stay.
