Hi we are Darrell and Susie Splett. We have two daughters Hattie and Karlie. Susie has 5 generations of family in Grand Marais with history on Greenwood Lake starting in the 1930s. We currently live in Thunder Bay Ontario which is a short drive to Grand Marais. We love being at the cabin away from everything including internet and TV. We always enjoy the reconnections with our children and each other. We love to fish and ride our 4-wheelers or snowmobiles in the winter. We play many games and put puzzles together on our designated puzzle table. The picture above was taken over Thanksgiving when we cut down our Christmas tree. In the summer we spend time relaxing on the deck and by the beach. The trip isn't complete without a campfire! We built the ring around the fire extra wide for safety. While designing the cabin our main concept was designed around family and I feel we were very successful!
Darrell or Susie Splett purchased this cabin in 2010
The Brazell family has had property on Greenwood Lake since the early 1930's. This property has been in our family for years. My husband and I dreamed of building on 'The Mountain' and our dream came true.
You will enjoy the experience of the power of the sun. Our solar system provides clean and quiet electricity to the cabin. Awareness of your power and water use is a great experience for everyone.
My husband and I spent our 33rd anniversary at this beautiful cabin. We had a wonderful time and it was the most relaxing vacation I have had in a long time! The view is spectacular, we enjoyed the private beach, fire ring and open atmosphere. If you are looking for a peaceful, private place with magnificent lake views...this is the place for you!!
My family had a wonderful stay. We loved how equipped the house was and so clean. We saw a moose on the road which was a highlight for all of us. The Gunflint Trail is so beautiful we enjoyed the drive. Thanks for sharing your place. We can't wait to come back!
We were very pleased with our stay. The cabin is well taken care of and we had no problems at all. The bonfires were awesome and we had fun fishing on the lake (brought our own boat). Our week stay was quite misty but when it cleared, the view of the lake was amazing! I always received prompt responses if I had questions before our stay and it was very easy to get ahold of the owners during our stay if necessary. Thank you for a great family trip!
It a beautiful place! The cabin is a loooooong ways from the water and there was not really a dock to use. If you just wanna read a book and look at the lake it perfect. Anything else I would look around some more. Not even gonna talk about the neighbors!!!
We just returned from staying a week at this beautiful cabin. We had a wonderful week here. The lake, home and view from the cabin were just beautiful. We would love to return someday! The cabin is clean , comfortable and well stocked. Just make sure you are prepared as it is a long drive into town.
Peaceful and relaxing! Enjoy the music of the birds and loons from the cabin or on the lake. Hike, bike, boat, or canoe on the lake. Take a drive up the historic Gunflint Trail to enjoy the many special places like the Chik-Wauk museum which features the history of the Gunflint Trail including my grandfather. Grand Marais is only a 30 minute drive for your fill of the World's Best Donuts owned by my sister-in-law.
