Our family loves to hunt, shoot, swim, ski, hike and enjoy the great outdoors. We also gather with our family here at Laurel Ridge Lodge for ski trips and reunions and business getaways. We're local to the area and want to share our home with you.
Alishia Synan purchased this lodge in 2011
We purchased this home because of it's beautiful location in the Laurel Highlands. We enjoy staying here on family outings/reunions and hope you will too!
We enjoy hunting, hiking and shooting in the Donegal/Laurel Highlands area and this is quite close to those activities. The house is large enough to accommodate our extended families, so we spend a lot of time just visiting with each other at the house or hanging out at the pool/hot tub.
We had a very enjoyable week despite some very unusual weather. This house was a great accommodation for all 12 of us. Lots of space for living, eating and playing. We explored the Laurel Highlands each day and returned here to unwind and enjoy the peace and tranquility each night.
Thank you for providing us with a beautiful place where we could enjoy our time together.
Our large family of 12 adults with children from 7 months to 15 years had a most enjoyable family reunion at this lodge. Cooking our meals in the well-equipped kitchen and being able to seat everyone at the huge dining room table each evening was very important for family togetherness. The outdoor pool was enjoyed by all. The view from the patio is grand with great sunsets some days. We liked that some family members could take advantage of hiking and biking in nearby parks while others explored local towns and attractions such as Ligonier and the I. M. Pei-designed home.
Our group of 22 adult family and friends had fun with all of the outdoor amenities (pool, bocce court, pizza oven, fire pit, etc.). There were plenty of plates, silverware, etc. and the huge table and benches allowed us to enjoy our meals together. We did have some issues with the sleeping arrangements. Six of the "kids" (all in their 20's) slept in the room with the bunk beds with doubles on the bottom and singles on the top. The beds were okay, but there was no closet or other storage space in the room. With six people and no clothes storage, you can imagine what the room looked like after a few days. The other problem was the room in the basement with two bunk beds. Two adults (50+) ended up down there. They said that the beds were hard and lumpy - probably mattresses on top of bunky boards. They may be okay for kids, but they did not work well for adults. The other issue was all of the animals (taxidermy) on the walls, floors, everywhere. It was a lot and bothered some of the people.
So... the outdoor amenities of this house are GREAT, and the privacy and views are wonderful. However, be aware of the sleeping arrangements if you have a large group of adults. The house would be ideal for large groups with kids that can take better advantage of the bunk beds.
The house was wonderful! Perfect my large family reunion. We had a few more people than what is listed as the max and we still fit comfortably! We could all fit around the huge kitchen table which was really nice! All the taxidermy animals took a bit to get used to but they definitely have the house character! Would definitely go back!!
Myself, and a group of friends, stayed at the Laurel Ridge Lodge. We loved the layout of the house and the amount of space we had. It comfortably slept 16 and we absolutely had a blast. We will definitely be renting again.
Beautiful lodge! Had a great time!
The Lodge was a perfect place for our 5 families to celebrate our father's 80th birthday. There was so much space and many places to sit, anyone can find something to do or some place to sit and relax. We had 23 people sleeping at the Lodge and everyone slept very comfortably. The movie room was especially fun. Everything was included and the kitchen was well-designed to cook large meals for our group. The only complaint we had was that lawn maintenance workers were there for about 6 hours one day and another entire day while we were trying to enjoy the pool and read outdoors. The property is huge and well-landscaped so obviously needs a lot of care but it was awkward trying to use the hot tub and pool when workers are trimming and mowing the lawn around you or waking the kids up from naps! We enjoyed hiking, Fallingwater, the zoo, and a side trip to Pittsburgh during our stay. Wonderful vacation! Thanks again.
