Sweeping vistas that go on forever, and the peace and quiet of a remote bluff near Big Sur, are the hallmarks of this 3-bedroom, 2-bath house perched on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

Truly for the adventurous traveler, the house on a winding road is the perfect place for getting away from it all, but at the same time with all the comforts of home and striking interiors that mingle modern and rustic sensibilities. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Located between historic Point Sur Lighthouse and iconic Bixby Bridge, and 15 minutes away from the village of Big Sur, the 1,408-square-foot house is about half an hour south of Carmel.

The recently renovated house takes full advantage of spectacular views that includes Point Sur and River Beach, which can be seen from most rooms of the house as well as the outdoor patio. A meditation bench on the edge of the cliff is the perfect spot for contemplation, nestled underneath towering cypress trees.

Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complementary wine and cheese, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes and beach gear.

Visitors will walk down charming river stone steps to reach the shingle-sided home from the parking area, which can accommodate up to three vehicles. Handmade stone walls and several outdoor living spaces add to the ambiance.

Inside the home, the open floor plan is perfect for entertaining or visiting with friends, allowing the kitchen and living room flow into each other, enhanced by beautiful hardwood floors in these rooms.

The living room features modular sofas that can be rearranged to get the full effect of ocean views, as well as a wood-burning fireplace made from native stone. A jute rug and modern glass-and-metal coffee table add to the home’s clean, modern style. Or if you want to go outside to enjoy the view, the brick patio outside the living room offers lounge chairs and a table for outdoor meals,

The large, airy kitchen with granite counter tops and alder cabinets contains new stainless steel appliances and a gas range, making meals a snap. Counter seating for three is available, and six people can enjoy meals around the table in the adjacent dining room area.

The master bedroom suite includes a king bed and a comfy chaise lounge for reading or relaxing, views of the ocean through large picture windows, and the master bathroom has a custom tiled shower stall and Corian counter top.

The other two guest bedrooms include one with a queen bed and another with a queen sleeper sofa that sleeps 1 - 2 children and share the hall bathroom. All bedrooms have neutral-toned berber carpet, and each has a 40-inch HDTV.

Guests should be aware that due to the location of this home being so near the ocean and the ruggedness of the terrain along the Big Sur coastline that electricity is provided by a generator. Internet connectivity and cell phone reception can be spotty and unreliable, a land line is provided for guest use.

The driveway approaching the home is steep and uneven. Please plan to arrive during daylight hours.

There is a land line provided at the home. Also, the driveway approaching the home is steep and uneven in some places and care should be exercised when driving on this driveway and the highway near the home.
