Doug & Lisa’s Story
After years of living and working in the big city of Seattle, WA, we decided to make a big change in our lives, to move to the Washington coast and start a hospitality business! It’s been a dream of ours to move to the coast for many years as we raised our children. Our children are grown and on their own now so we decided it’s time to fulfill our dream!
We have been coming to the Washington coast since our children were small. We spent those years camping at Cape Disappointment and Grayland Beach State Park, being out in nature, gazing at the dark skies and millions of stars at night (not so visible in the big city), sitting by the campfire, listening to the sounds of the ocean waves crashing on the shores and the wind blowing through the pine trees (much better than traffic), beach combing, clam digging and crabbing, the things we have always loved! Our children enjoyed bike riding, hiking trails and swimming, skim boarding and boogie boarding at the ocean. After our children were grown, we started staying in yurts or cabins (instead of tent camping, yurts and cabins provided heat, electricity, and beds!)
We started thinking about opening a bed & breakfast or motel & cottage business. We liked the idea of running a business where we could help make people happy, feel relaxed, and have fun while on vacation.
Enchanted Cottages/ Lisa and Doug purchased this cottage in 2006
Wanting to provide our guests with cozy, comfortable, friendly and relaxing accommodations, we discovered Enchanted Cottages, which fit the bill! The cottages are adorable, cozy, walk-to-the-ocean vacation rentals. We fell in love with the Enchanted Cottages the minute we laid eyes on them!
The first night in our new home at the Enchanted Cottages, we walked outside. The street in front of our new home was quiet.
We hope you will come stay at our little cottages soon and enjoy the serene gardens and fountains, the comfortable, cozy accommodations, and all the wonderful things the Long Beach Peninsula has to offer: the beautiful Pacific Ocean and beaches, the many lakes, the Columbia River, the charming downtown area of Long Beach and its oceanfront boardwalk, the 8-mile paved Discovery Trail through the dunes, great restaurants, lighthouses, outdoors activities such as clam digging, crabbing, fishing, bicycling, hiking, beachcombing…there is no end to the adventures awaiting you!
Come and enjoy the last green, uncrowded frontier! Visit the Long Beach Peninsula if your interests are bird-watching, kite flying, fishing, the Columbia River, Lewis & Clark museum, lighthouses, great restaurants, bicycling the Discovery Trail or walking on our uncrowded 27-mile Long Beach.
This home is very clean and cozy. The kitchen had every pan, bowl, & utensil you will need. Close to beach and bike trail access. Virgil and Trisha were wonderful hosts and anything you need they were happy to provide. Just need to ask them. Thanks, Virgil for all your attentiveness to our needs and supplying us with fresh towels without us asking for them. We had a great time!
Enchanted Cottages is a delightful place to stay and close to the beach. The cozy and comfortable home is well appointed and has everything you could need. It was a home away from home. Such a great place to connect with family, rest and relax.
We loved staying in this charming cottage with all the thoughtful touches. It was renovated with more modern updates, yet retained it's early 1900s allure. The wifi was slow, but it was available. The location of the cottage was convenient to Long Beach attractions, including the beach.
In Seaview, you are within walking distance to The Beach, Discovery Trail & many fine restaurants. The 27-mile long Peninsula provides numerous fun and relaxing activities from the North (Leadbetter Point State Park), through the bustling small town of Long Beach with its many festivals and the Kite Museum, to the South (Cape Disappointment State Park on the Columbia River), and the charming Port of Ilwaco, showcasing the summertime Saturday Market and the original art of Marie Powell.
