Our historic renovated log cabin sits above the South fork of the Gallatin River on a 14 acre gated estate. This unique 'one of a kind' property is beautifully landscaped and walking distance to golf, tennis, meadow village, town center and a number of Big Sky's best restaurants. Most significantly, the property features two world class pickleball courts available to our guests.
The upscale cabin features a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances, gourmet cookware, and all the utensils necessary for incredible meals.
The entire cabin features old world plaster walls, and original oak flooring. The river rock wood burning fireplace includes a heat-a-lator insert helping to make the cabin warm and toasty. Your deck overlooks the Southfork of the Gallatin, a small stream loaded with willing trout. Elk, Moose, Deer and Bear are regular visitors.
Your host is a PSIA certified ski instructor and private or group lessons can be included with your rental at very affordable rates.
Ours in not just a rental... it's a lifestyle!
I am a retired entrepreneur and founder of the Calendar Club, the world's leading seasonal retailer. My wife Zoey was a model and fitness instructor for Princess cruises when she was younger. When we met in 2005 she was doing interior design work for private clients. I became a PSIA certified ski instructor at 60 and teach skiing part time at one of Big Sky's two world class ski resorts. I am also an avid fly fisherman who has fished all over the world from Argentina to Mongolia. I teach fly casting/fishing to friends and family. In the past, I have been a professional trainer of bird dogs and now have a Brittany and English Setter that hunt with me often on my pheasant lease.
Four years ago we were introduced to the fast growing sport of pickleball. Since then, we became official USAPA pickleball ambassadors and started the Big Sky Pickleball Club which now boasts 100 members. We have two world class pickleball courts on the property and teach the game.
Barry Silverman purchased this cabin in 1998
When I decided to buy a mountain home it had to meet two important criteria. It had to be close to 'world class' skiing and fly fishing. I narrowed my search down to three places in the United States that had both, and decided on Big Sky for many reasons. The first time I saw this property I knew this was a special place. Where else could a person have a trout stream in their back yard, two world class ski resorts out thier front door and be within 60 miles of some of the most famous and sacred trout rivers in the world? The property I bought provided me with a blank canvas on which I have created my art. That art consists of hardscapes, landscapes, gardening and home improvements that make the Southfork Lodge a life style and not just real estate.
When you stay in the Southfork guest cabin you are not just getting a rental... You are experiencing a lifestyle. You never know if there will be a Moose outside your door or a family of ducks in our pond. You will experience the 'Wild West' while being pampered with down comforters, flannel sheets and coffee on your deck overlooking the rivers. We're wild... But not uncivilized.
For pickleball enthusiasts, this is paradise. With our two dedicated courts and the amazing spectator's pavilion, we are able to hold clinics, tournaments and exhibitions.
Dear Barry & Zoey,
Thank you so much for your amazing cabin and hospitality. There are so few places in the world where you can feel "at home" as soon as you set your foot in the door.
The Huckleberry jam (you left us) was a special treat on our morning English muffin...yum! We especially enjoyed the roaring fires every evening. It felt so good for a couple of desert rats like us to warm our toes every day.
Barry, Big Sky is an amazing place and your helpful pointers both days were just the ticket.
Staying at Barry and Zoe's cabin couldn't have been nicer. They are both such nice people, and were very helpful with information about Big Sky, Yellowstone etc. The cabin is perfectly clean, modern, and well-appointed, and the kitchen (unlike most rental kitchens one encounters) has everything a cook could need to prepare meals. That's nice because after a full day at Yellowstone we didn't always want have to go out for dinner. I highly recommend staying here.
Our family of 4(kids 7 & 12) loved this beautiful cabin retreat. Updated kitchen with d/w and bathroom (shower only, no tub) were very nice. Queen bunks in the bedroom and sleeping loft with a double and futon were very comfortable. Nice furnishings in the DR and LR with a beautiful stone wood fireplace. Grounds were lovely with a trout pond, river, yard games and nice views of the mountains. No washer/dryer so pack accordingly. Barry and Zoey were very nice, able to give some local recommendations and willing to take my squeamish daughter's fish off the hook for her!
A few minutes drive to the Meadows resturaunts and grocery and nice hiking trails. 10-15 min to Big Sky mountain base. 45 min to West Yellowstone entrance. Definitely worth the drive to get away from the crowds at Yellowstone to enjoy some peace at a central location.
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin the week after Christmas 2012. There were two of us so the cabin provided more than enough room. There was a full kitchen, eating area and the family room provided multiple couches along with a full entertainment center, including surround sound.
Location wise the cabin was 45 mins from the airport, 10 mins from the ski mountain and 45 mins from the entrance to Yellowstone National Park. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice, comfortable, secluded stay in Big Sky.
Barry and Zoe (hosts) have their main residence on the property and were more than helpful with planning, suggestions and ensuring we had everything we needed during our stay.
We had a great great time, will definitely revisit in the summer and highly recommend to others.

Pictures don't do this place justice. And we cannot convey the graciousness of our hosts, Zoey and Barry. We were treated like family and we could not have asked for a more pleasant stay. From the fresh eggs and local jams to the attention to detail in providing an upscale stay, we wanted for nothing. Within walking distance to both happening areas of Big Sky, yet we felt like we were in the beautiful Montana wilderness. The cabin had every amentity we could want. The fireplace was great, the kitchen well-stocked, and the overall decor was very homey and special. Lots of towels and hooks and a great heater in the bathroom! The place is much larger than expected and we really loved the back deck and the trout pond and river behind the property and the chickens running around! Barry and Zoey could not have done more to make our stay better. Eating a wonderful meal with their great friends, Randy and Mary and daughter, Aubrey, was entertaining - we felt like we were friends, too. We vacation a lot and this place is one of our top stays, for sure. We hope to be able to return in 2 years. A really perfect stay. Zoey and Barry also helped us figure out stuff to do in the area and the recommendation to go to Virginia City was a must-see. Overall, I cannot emphasize how great this place is - do not hesitate to stay here as I know you will also enjoy the accommodation as we did.
Outstanding experience. My first use of VRBO. My hosts could not have been nicer or more helpful. The setting was even more beautiful than expected. We were given fresh eggs by the host. Altogether a delightful experience.
Dear Barry and Zoey:
We really enjoyed your cozy and well-appointed cabin for our week's visit this past week. Among other things, we really appreciated your warm personal welcome, and as weary travelers from Florida, your providing us with a dozen of your hens' freshly-laid eggs as well as a few jars of yummy, locally-made huckleberry jams and jellies!
We really welcomed and felt lucky to get the heavy blast of Spring snow that blanketed the area over night our second night and the next day, making for GREAT skiing conditions at Big Sky, not to mention a wonderful winter-like atmosphere for the roaring fires in the cabin's river rock fire place (thanks for providing ample firewood for that).
Owing to the otherwise early Spring, the Gallatin River provided a great opportunity for Dad to break out the fly fishing gear and get a couple of nice Rainbows (if I were a more competent fly fisherman, I might have nailed a couple dozen ... I noticed guide Dave Alvin, of nearby East Slope Fly Fishing, absolutely slaying the fish up-river from where I was fishing one day at Deer Creek bridge).
Finally, thanks to you both for welcoming us into your beautiful home for a night of coffee, homemade ice cream and fun games with the Tillery family and their friends from Orlando ... we had a blast.
The surrounding Alpine majesty of the Rockies, and your lovely property in particular, truly provided a background for a memorable trip.
We really look forward to our next visit ... we'll tackle the Madison River next time!
All our best,
E, L & P
