Great Getaway

  • 4 of 5

I stayed in cabin 4 along the river for 3 nights in late March. The weather was picture perfect, the grounds were impeccably kept, my cabin was quaint, clean and met my needs for a quiet getaway from Austin. I met some incredibly nice neighbors two cabins away that invited me to dinner one night. I would recommend this small resort to anyone looking for a quiet pristine getaway along the Guadalupe river. It is also an excellent resort for families with the pool, put put course, river and other outdoor fun. My only suggestion is perhaps putting mattress pads on the mattresses or replacing mattresses. They were very hard and my back was sore each morning. After my first night on the large bed, I slept on a bunk bed to see if it might be more comfortable. It was not. If the mattresses were improved, I'd give the resort 5 stars.

Not as nice as expected.

  • 2 of 5

We booked the property with the understanding that they had a working hot tub (even emailed and asked). Showed up Friday and it was cold. Emailed Saturday about it and no response...finally called...they stated it was fixed. Went to use it Saturday and still not working. It is January mind you, so not much else to do. I definently think that due to the size of the property they should update the hot tub or get another one.

Went to use the pool table...also extremely old and pool sticks were broken and missing pieces.

Woke up Saturday to shower and only had freezing cold water.

I would definently do research before booking this place.

Owner's Response: We at the Summit try our best to accommodate everyone, we apologize that your visit with us was not up to par. In reference to the hot water temperature; our maintenance staff checks the equipment weekly to assure maximum performance. When the question was raised, “Is the Hot tub adequately heating?” Our reservations department stated yes due to fact the heating element was replaced one week previous to the arrival date as to which some of the RV’ers had given the hot tub rave reviews. Addressing the “Cold Shower” comment; our 4 person cabins come equipped with a 10 gallon water heater, unfortunately it’s like most homes- if shower runs continuously the cold water entering the hot water heater will need time to reheat. The Summit did offer to place the guest into another cabin as to which the guest stated no. The summit is always updating our appliances and equipment so we do value our guest comment(s) such as the water heater issue and take into consideration what may need to be changed and/or upgraded in the future. Lastly, the Summit does offer equipment to all of our amenities (golf clubs, golf balls, tennis racquets, tennis balls, basket balls, shuffle board equipment etc.) for free with the expectation it would be cared for and returned. Unfortunately that is not always the case; the “broken” pool stick that was being referred to was not actually property of the Summit. The other two pool sticks were the Summits property; however they were overlooked for use. Again we will make appropriate changes to assure a wonderful experience to all of our guest. The Summit Vacation & RV Resort highly values any comment (good and/or bad); if bad we can make the necessary changes and if good the Summit will try to keep improving upon it. Our goal to make the Summit a great memory for everyone. Thank you for your comment and please consider the Summit in the future.

Friendly and Inviting

  • 4 of 5

The property was well taken care of and the folks at the front office were friendly. The cabin we stayed in (1) was cute and comfortable for myself, husband and our little dog. Situated right on the river was a bonus, and it was very quiet since we were there during off season. Laundry room for guests and plenty of things to do for the young ones. I wish we had brought some folding chairs, because the log furniture was uncomfortable for our old back sides. The weather turned very cold while we were there so the cabin was also. Two heaters were provided that helped, but not much since it was a cabin, drafts and all. If your stay is during warmer weather it would not be a concern. All in all... very nice place and we would stay again if in the area.

Beautiful view of the Guadalupe River

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in a tree top villa that was small but well laid out and equipped with everything we could want. It had a fabulous view of the Guadalupe River which we tubed and enjoyed. The staff was friendly and helpful. We drove through the Texas Hill country to visit Gruene shops in a lovely historic district. I would recommend for a relaxing and enjoyable visit.

Perfect cabin for Cycling Getaway Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We booked both a home villa, and a cabin, for our weekend getaway of cycling in the Tour de Gruene Fall Cycling Classic. ( The Summit is the perfect location on River Road between Canyon Lake and New Braunfels so you can plan various rides with beautiful lake vistas or scenic tree lined roads along the Guadalupe river. The cabin was perfect with double bunk beds in the downstairs room and a full bed in the loft. Equipped with kitchen appliances and full bathroom - it's a cabin on steroids! Management and owner were very easy to work with and attended to our needs. Would highly recommend!
