My mother, aunt and I had a great time at Summit Resort. We were in cabin #7.Would recommend to everyone that would like to get away and relax. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I stayed in cabin 4 along the river for 3 nights in late March. The weather was picture perfect, the grounds were impeccably kept, my cabin was quaint, clean and met my needs for a quiet getaway from Austin. I met some incredibly nice neighbors two cabins away that invited me to dinner one night. I would recommend this small resort to anyone looking for a quiet pristine getaway along the Guadalupe river. It is also an excellent resort for families with the pool, put put course, river and other outdoor fun. My only suggestion is perhaps putting mattress pads on the mattresses or replacing mattresses. They were very hard and my back was sore each morning. After my first night on the large bed, I slept on a bunk bed to see if it might be more comfortable. It was not. If the mattresses were improved, I'd give the resort 5 stars.
We booked the property with the understanding that they had a working hot tub (even emailed and asked). Showed up Friday and it was cold. Emailed Saturday about it and no response...finally called...they stated it was fixed. Went to use it Saturday and still not working. It is January mind you, so not much else to do. I definently think that due to the size of the property they should update the hot tub or get another one.
Went to use the pool table...also extremely old and pool sticks were broken and missing pieces.
Woke up Saturday to shower and only had freezing cold water.
I would definently do research before booking this place.
Okay for camping but not up to par regarding clean.
The property was well taken care of and the folks at the front office were friendly. The cabin we stayed in (1) was cute and comfortable for myself, husband and our little dog. Situated right on the river was a bonus, and it was very quiet since we were there during off season. Laundry room for guests and plenty of things to do for the young ones. I wish we had brought some folding chairs, because the log furniture was uncomfortable for our old back sides. The weather turned very cold while we were there so the cabin was also. Two heaters were provided that helped, but not much since it was a cabin, drafts and all. If your stay is during warmer weather it would not be a concern. All in all... very nice place and we would stay again if in the area.
We stayed in a tree top villa that was small but well laid out and equipped with everything we could want. It had a fabulous view of the Guadalupe River which we tubed and enjoyed. The staff was friendly and helpful. We drove through the Texas Hill country to visit Gruene shops in a lovely historic district. I would recommend for a relaxing and enjoyable visit.
