About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + 2 Convertible beds, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Are you the kind of person who just feels better when you can look at the water? The kind of person who feels calm just thinking about the soft waves slapping the sand, and the distant sound of seagulls?

Don’t just think about a great beach getaway—live it. And live it in the comfortable elegance of a fully restored Victorian in one of Galveston’s oldest neighborhoods.

The Gulf Lady in Galveston is located just 1 block from the beach—you can see the sparkling Gulf from the home’s upstairs porch. Just as lovely is the view of the spectacular Galvez Hotel, located just two blocks away. Walk to the hotel’s famous brunch, or schedule some alone time in their newly opened spa.

Despite its great location, there are lots of reasons to never leave the house. The Gulf Lady is a turn-of-the-century charmer with lots of period details. Pocket doors, hardwood floors, clawfoot tubs, and gorgeous stained glass are just some of the surprises you’ll find in this lovely home. The welcoming entranceway is painted in the same shade as the Galvez’s lobby area—a wonderful nod to the home’s close proximity.

But this house isn’t stuck in the past by any means. You’ll love the modern updates—including a chef’s kitchen, central air conditioning, free wifi, and flat-panel televisions. You’ll feel comfortable whether you’re relaxing in the family room, visiting on one of the home’s multiple porches, or lounging in front of the luxurious pool.

The house sleeps up to 10, with three bedrooms upstairs, a queen-sized flexsteel sofa bed in the living room (there is a full bathroom downstairs for any guests with mobility issues), and a comfortable daybed/trundle on the upstairs landing. In addition, we provide a pack-and-play for our younger guests.

We are pet- and smoke-free, to accommodate our guests with allergies.

About Barron Lozano

I manage the property for the owner, my mother. She is a retired Veterinarian and former US Merchant Marine radio operator. She loves living by the ocean and sharing her home with the many guests who have come to visit from around the world.

Our family has had many happy times in this home and we hope that you and your family and friends enjoy it as much as we have.

Barron Lozano purchased this house in 1998

Why Barron Lozano chose Galveston

My parents wanted to live near the ocean. They also were interested, from the start, in owning an older home with character and history. Our home is 110 years old and fully renovated. They added some new touches after purchasing the home and added the pool a few years later. It is a very homey place with lots of "old world" feel, all while offering the comforts of a modern home.

What makes this house unique

The high ceilings, original floors, and woodwork and touches (such as the stained glass windows) make the home a special place for us. There is plenty of room to spread out around the house. You will love the upstairs porch, where you can curl up with a book or just hang out and look out over the water.

The backyard is inviting, with the sparkling pool and the long porch. My family lives in Houston and we always enjoy getting away to our home in Galveston. Our children have many happy memories of their time with Mooma and Pawpa. We hope your family will as well.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a wonderful time in your house. It was very spacious. The pool was very nice and peaceful. We had a nice time in Galveston.

A great way to enjoy Galveston

  • 5 of 5

The Gulf Lady was not only charming but had plenty of room for our family vacation. We had our 2 sons and their families... so a total of 6 adults and 3 children.. we never felt crowded and loved the layout of the house. The back porch and pool were our favorite spots and the kitchen had everthing we needed. Extra thanks to Barron for answering all our questions, checking in with us and making us feel welcome. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Old House in Fantastic Location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for the first week of Mardi Gras 2017. Really enjoyed having a house this time around, gave kids a great deal of space to eat and play with the cousins, and was very close to the parade route. House is located within walking distance to many of the island highlights, Pleasure Pier, the beach, restaurants, and the parade route, etc... Great house for a weekend where you can park the car and not have to worry about driving anywhere. Owner is great and very responsive as well. Highly recommended.....

Gulf Lady House

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd year staying in the Gulf Lady House during the Lone Star Rally we absolutely love this house. This house has everything you could ask for it's like a home away from home it's located within walking distance of Please Pier and many many restaurants and shops and it has it's own private pool : ). I would recommend this home everyone looking to stay in Galveston.

Great home close to seawall!!!

  • 4 of 5

We had 3 families stay at this home August 2016. It was very spacious. A gorgeous Victorian home. Home is just like pictures advertised. Pool is a little small, but was just fine for our stay. Barron was great, I was able to call or text her with any questions we had. The 2nd floor balcony was great in the evenings slight ocean view and great breezes. We would definitely stay at this home again.

Welcome to Spring Break!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had an absolutely AWESOME time at the "Gulf Lady"! The pictures don't do the home justice! The home is filled with history, with modern touches here and there. It was supposed to be a rainy weekend and it turned out to be a great sunny spring break! It was wonderful waking up to the sun beaming on your face, which was easy to do with all of the gorgeous windows everywhere! The house is equipped with everything you will need and more. There were 10 of us there but, the home is roomy enough to hold many more. The pool was a bit cold but it didn't stop us from enjoying it! Barron was a pleasure to work with and we even got to meet Barron's mother, Dr. Bennings, who was the cutest and the most adorable 95 year old I have had the pleasure of meeting. We can't wait to come back again!

Thanks so much for having us!

Lisa M.

Owner's Response: Lisa, we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Gulf Lady! We have strived to make the house modern enough so you have all the comforts of home, all while maintaining the historic feel of this 110 year old home. I'm also glad you got to meet my mom, who is almost as old as the house! :-) We look forward to welcoming you back to our home soon. Barron Lozano The Gulf Lady

Gulf Lady: a Treasure!

  • 5 of 5

The Gulf Lady was a perfect vacation spot! We rented three homes in the area for a family reunion. The Gulf Lady was by far our favorite home-away-from-home. Lovely! The location is perfect, just a couple of blocks from the beach, Pleasure Pier, restaurants, and the Hotel Galvez. The rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed, but comfortable and easy to live in. There were 30 of us for dinner one night! The kitchen was well equipped for the task, and with the outdoor spaces and lovely downstairs sitting and dining rooms, plenty of room for entertaining our group. The owner went out of her way to answer our questions and make our stay a pleasure. We could not have asked for a more perfect week. Thank you for hosting our visit with grace and style! We will definitely be back!
