Couldn't be nicer!

  • 5 of 5

My wife & I and another couple just returned from a fabulous 9 day stay at this wonderful Kaibo Condo. Everything was perfect. It was plenty large enough for 4 adults. Working Satellite TV's in each bedroom as well as the living room. The kitchen was very well stocked with dishes, flatware, cookware, etc. The unit was very well kept and spotless. The island atmosphere in Kaibo is delightfully quiet. We can highly recommend this condo and would stay there again "in a minute". The unit did include free wifi which did in fact work very well.

Beautiful, Quiet Location

  • 5 of 5

I'm writing this review while enjoying the last hour of our stay on the patio (I can't tell you how sad I am!)

I can't say enough about this unit! It is clean, well-maintained, and has every amenity we could have wanted. The week before our stay, Mitch sent an email with directions to the condo and ideas for places to eat. When we arrived, we also found a folder with menus and information on various outings. We've really enjoyed the freedom of being able to make breakfast, lunch, and snacks while traveling out for dinner...we went to the Kaibo BBQ as well as the Rum Point BBQ, both great options!

The first few days of our stay, we stuck around the North Side (Rum Point, Starfish Point, Kaibo, the public beach) and did the Ebanks Watersports Jet Ski Snorkel and Sting Ray City tour which was fantastic! Luckily, we did those early in the week, because of very windy conditions we spent 3 days on Seven Mile where it was not quite as windy (Sting Ray City ended up being closed those three days!) I highly recommend the Swimmin' Grillin' Chillin' excursion through Red Sail and make sure to visit Smith's Cove (we packed a lunch and drinks and made a day of it!).

Just a few general pointers: if you are stopping for groceries, go to Hurley's Market. The grocery store by the airport is limited in what they carry, and Hurley's had a deli that was fantastic with local foods....which is what we packed for our beach lunch. Alcohol is very expensive, so make sure you stop at the duty free before you get here. If going to Seven Mile, check out the ship schedule if you want to avoid masses of cruisers...it seems Saturday and Sundays are a lot less busy, with mid-week you'll see upwards of almost 20,000 more people in the area.

Well, looks like it's time to leave paradise. You can't go wrong staying here...it has been a wonderful experience and we hope to be back next year!

Great area on the water on 'quiet' part of the island!

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) had a blast overall during our trip! The condo was very nice, well maintained, & in an excellent location if you don't mind being on the 'far end' of the island. (We rented a car, so we were not concerned with that, and prefer to be away from the buzz/ chaos at 7-Mile Beach.) While this part of the island was less 'busy' when compared to the city surrounds & draw of 7-Mile, it is still communal living near a busy yacht club. We actually enjoyed the music that was played some evenings at the nearby club/ restaurant. That was a fun treat! What wasn't so great was their grounds keeping staff using a leaf blower to move debris/ reset the sand (?) anywhere between 6 & 7 am each morning before sunrise. We came from a cold climate, so opening up for the fresh, warm air was lovely - until morning - when we'd need to close up & kick on the AC. (Nothing that the condo owners have control over, of course.) Additionally, it's still 'communal living' - and other renters were not so considerate of those around them - some partying until 4am on their lanai. (Again - this is under no control of the owners, and the AC came to the rescue for the most part.)

PROS:

- Secluded area of the island overall

- Private overall

- Lovely location/ view to wake up to each day!

- Fab pool & hot tub facing the bay (though that hot tub is L.O.U.D.)

- Close (even walking distance for some) to Starfish Point, and Rum Point Beach & Restaurant + excursions

- Walking distance (no shoes required!) through the sand to Kaibo's downstairs Restaurant if that's your food style. (Upstairs is formal.)

- Many starfish and other sea critters visible from fishing pier & shoreline right outside

- Lanai, Lanai, Lanai! [And el fresco meals on it!]

- The owner was very responsive and the unit itself was great.

CONS:

- Communal living (some noisy neighbors)

- Loud pool pump & hot tub, as well as maintenance of Kaibo Yacht Club

- Not near a really good swimming beach (You can swim/ snorkel in shallow reefs around Rum Point Beach.) *[You technically CAN swim at this spot, but it gets deep quickly, and we saw a number of sketchy sea creatures - off the dock & along the shoreline: puffer fish, barracuda, urchin, jelly fish (small ones - but they all sting), and lion fish (nothing to mess with.) So we didn't want to swim in the ocean here.]

- About a 40 min Drive to 7-Mile if you do wish to venture there

*Overall: Nice place off the beaten path!

Escape to Beach Front - Kaibo Yacht club

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Kaibo condo, phase 1 section, at Mitch's condo. We were pleasantly surprised. The condo, second level, was clean, spacious, and accommodating to our needs. We enjoyed the use of the grill, and relaxing in the screened in porch. If steps work for you, book it! We have stayed at condo's first and second levels, and in this location, I recommend the second floor because of the privacy.

The pool is awesome and the beach very nice! I recommend water shoes, you really can't walk in the water without them.

The food at the Kaibo Yacht Club was good, but we were not impressed with the Tuesday night buffet. Our favorite spot we at at was Eagle Rays bar and grill, great food and service. The best hamburger my husband ever had! We had pizza at a Italian pizzeria in a strip mall at the east end, excellent! I wish I could remember the name. Also, if you are free go at 3:00 in the afternoon for happy hour at Tukka restaurant, great appetizers (price increases by the hour) and wine is reasonable. If you have dinner there, it is spendy, but I am sure excellent.

Will we come back, absolutely! We will stay in the same location, most likely with Mitch if his condo is open. I would pack my favorite wines, (It is expensive to drink there.) If you want cleaning services, ask ahead of time, don't assume they come every couple of days. It is extra and the information in the room didn't explain that. If you are avid snorkeler's, bring your own gear.

Mitch, if I had one request, it would be to have a couple of "bag chairs" available just to tote to the beaches. We found that there are very few picnic tables at the local beaches and we went to a different beach every day. though you had a cooler available, we brought our own. Our favorite beach was, I think, Smith.

Thank you Mitch for your hospitality! We greatly appreciate it!

Sunny and Beautiful

  • 4 of 5

This condo was spacious, clean and well equipped. The lovely lanai was ideal for dining, or just relaxing to view the water and sunsets. The Kaibo Restaurants are conveniently located within a quick walk across the beach. The weekly beachfront barbecue or wood-fired oven pizza are a few of the many options offered on their menus.

Grocery stores are a 20-30 minutes drive, so stock up on your way from the airport to the condo. Also, grocery and liquor stores are closed on Sundays.

There are a few additional restaurants located at Rum Point and the East side of the island. Eagle's Rey is affordable with a happy hour and delicious lion fish tacos.

Our favorite location within walking distance was Starfish Point. Being able to walk in crystal clear, knee-deep water to see different varieties of starfish was amazing. We never tired of its tranquil beach!

Seven Mile Beach is an easy 30 minute ferry ride from Kaibo Yacht Club. For a wonderful excursion to Sting Ray City and snorkeling, try Captain Chris of White Sands Water Sports. His boat leaves the Kaibo dock 1-3 times daily depending on water and wind conditions.

The was a minor mix up with the wi-fi information given, but after contacting the on site managers and the owner, it was resolved. Any other minor requests were also handled with the help of the property management team.

If you are seeking a peaceful, uncrowded, beachfront condo, this is waiting for you!
