We loved sitting outside and having our coffee on the front deck. It seems secluded but you're just a few minutes from everything! You get that peace and quiet without really being too far! We loved the grill out back. Perfect for staying and grilling with your family and relaxing or floating the river.

Awesome weekend on the river

  • 5 of 5

This is literally the *perfect* place to stay if you're planning a trip to float the river or just to get away from it all. The cabin has the feel of being "out in the middle of nowhere" as you are surrounded by fields and trees. However, it's only about 7 minutes to town where there's an HEB and Walmart. The cabin itself is quaint and comfortable. We loved the large back deck and BBQ grill. We cooked out every night. The only thing I missed was cooking wear. There was only 1 or two small pans that were pretty worn. We only cooked breakfast on the stove so we made it work. I would recommend bringing a small stock of cooking ware if you plan on using it a lot. But other than that we had a wonderful time, and everything was great. We plan on making this an annual tradition, and will be staying here every time.

Quiet, Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the farm cottage! It has plenty of space with different rooms for all to enjoy some quiet time. Both front and back porches provide a serene place to sit and rock. Everything was provided for a relaxing weekend away. We hope to be back!

The perfect find

  • 5 of 5

Our family booked this place for a three day weekend getaway. We had read the 30+ reviews before booking and the place seemed to fit our family's needs.

We read that the place was a little hard to find so I decided to research the location through google earth. The place was pretty easy to find because I knew what to look for.

We fell in love with the place and will go back!

The place was larger than appeared in the photos.

The place was secluded and private, far away enough from the RV park so that we enjoyed a peaceful and solitary vacation, but walking distance to river access.

We decided to tube with Texas Tube & Float (which drops off at the end of the county line road). We drove to the main office, rented tubes from them, and took a bus to the drop off. The tubing traffic was of no issue for us being further back from the road. But it was neat floating down the river just beside our place.

The place is close to 80 and 35 (a quick drive to Walmart and near enough to San Marcos restaurants).

The place is only about 20 min. from Wimberely where we hiked up Old Baldy and drove to the Devil's Backbone Scenic Overlook. We bought groceries at the HEB there. Perfect front porch for yoga.

Perfect reading room and we put it to use for a family game night.

The Master Bed and the full size bed were sooo comfortable! We saw hawks, fireflies, and turkeys!

The place was fully loaded with paper towels and toilet paper (which most places we stay at have minimal supply)

The pictures don't do this place justice!!!

There were only a few things we took note of that we would prefer :

The twin beds could use mattress toppers/pads (these were the least comfortable beds and were dull in comparison to the other comfy beds). We decided to wash some laundry and we had to buy our own detergent. There were dryer sheets so we assumed that they usually stock laundry detergent but ran out and forgot to replace it so we picked some up. No biggie, just inconvenient. The shower head probably needs a good cleaning because the water was going in different directions making showers a bit annoying (but overall it was a nice shower.. bench & all). The coffee maker is slow which made for a long wait before coffee. The dvd players didn't work but we got over it. The signs for the place could be freshly painted and a little more obvious to help guests find it easily. The pictures could stand to be updated, However we liked that this place was discreet and hidden away (like a secret gem).

Perfect for a family

  • 5 of 5

We visited San Marcos for a family event. Since there would be multiple married couples all coming in, we decided a house would be a much better option than a hotel. This is the perfect solution!! It is a stand alone cottage - so serene and peaceful. The interior has everything you could want - 3 bedrooms, comfy beds, a kitchen and two sitting areas. Not to mention the porches on both front and back. It was close to everything we needed. I would rent this every time we visited the area.
