About the property

Three Bedroom Two Bath Cottage On The Muscongus Bay-Breathtaking Water Views

Come experience all the Mid-Coast of Maine has to offer in beautiful Friendship. Centrally located between Portland and Bar Harbor, Friendship is just minutes away from many of Maine's finest attractions. Our cottage is directly on the water with a private dock for easy boat launch. Bring your own small boat or use one of the three kayaks or one canoe that are included in this rental or, bring your larger boat and launch it from the town landing, less than a mile from the cottage. The Cottage is nicely appointed with three bedrooms including a Master Bedroom with a Queen-sized bed and a sleeping loft with twin beds that your kids will just love! There is also a lower level bedroom with a queen sized futon. The mattress is very high quality to assure your comfort. This bedroom also has its own full bathroom for amazing privacy in the lower level. There is also a futon located in the living room to sleep two additional guests. With high ceilings and a large deck the cottage feels spacious and airy even when you have a full house! Spend your days at the cottage reading on the deck as you take in the breathtaking view while listening to the lobster boats as they haul in their catch. Take long walks or go explore surrounding islands in a kayak or take a long nap while listening to the harbor seals call to one another. On a foggy day you may want to curl up in front of the fireplace with your dog sleeping by your side. Wood is provided! The more adventurous may want to spend days golfing, shopping, touring lighthouses or taking harbor cruises. The tourist towns of Rockland, Camden and Damariscotta are all just a 30-40 minute drive. Even Acadia National Park is only a two hour drive. After a long day of sightseeing, you can return to Friendship for peace and serenity.

Note, Friendship is a small town with a small general store and just one or two shops. But you can still walk for an ice cream cone in the evening or go to the harbor when the lobster boats are coming in and buy lobster as fresh as it gets! It is a perfect little Mid-Coast Maine Village that you will fall in love with.

About Amy Waldron

I own this home with my sisters and have been vacationing in Friendship since I was a small child. I can't imagine anywhere else I would rather own a vacation home.

Amy Waldron purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Amy Waldron chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

This is the property my family rented when I was young. Years later my Father decided he wanted to purchase the property when it became available for sale. He spent many lovely weeks here before passing away. I love this home with its perfect view of the Bay and its cozy cabin feel.

Breathtaking waterfront views with cozy cabin

  • 4 of 5

If you're looking for a cozy place off the beaten path, this is it. The view is spectacular and we really enjoyed sitting down by the lake watching the sun set. The house is very cozy and bed very comfortable. A good spot if you are looking to unwind and enjoy nature. Not far from Portland and an easy day trip to Acadia. Easy rides to surrounding areas such as Owls Head, Rockland, Camden. Fully stocked kitchen and access to Kayaks. Had a great stay!

A beautiful and comfortable setting for our family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our family's stay in the cottage was delicious in every way. We relished the comfortable setting (including comfy beds), enjoyed the beautiful view and spectacular sunsets, kayaked to our hearts' content, devoured good food (including fresh lobster from the dock in Friendship), and consumed many books on the remarkably bug-free deck. As a bonus, we saw an eagle fly overhead and had one nocturnal chorus from a seal doing a good imitation of a sea monster! Our only suggestion would be to add a larger side table in the kitchen to give more room for food prep, though our resident chef managed beautifully. Thank you for sharing your wonderful setting! We hope to return!

Truly a friendly cottage in Friendship, Maine

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation in Maine, this cottage fits the bill. We enjoyed having breakfast every morning from the deck as we planned our daily activities. It is conveniently located so that a trip to Portland, Freeport, or even Acadia are possible. Having three kayaks and a two person canoe gave everyone in our family the chance to be on the water at the same time. Kayaking with the harbor seals was one of the highlights of our trip. The water was accessible even at low tide. Amy was responsive to questions and made our trip carefree. Thank you for opening your home to our family.

Cozy Maine cabin right on the water with beautiful sunsets

  • 5 of 5

Great property, right on the water. Very rustic feeling with minimum luxurious and maximum coziness. Kitchen with everything you'd need to cook almost everything plus a large three burner grill. Has forced hot air heat and a large wood stove. Cabin has electricity and basic lighting, but no wifi or cable so you can really unplug but still be comfortable.

They put a wall up to turn the loft into a bedroom with a door which was a good idea. They have 3 kayaks and a canoe available, and a floating dock. Really was a remarkable experience and will definitely be going back.

Word of wisdom: if you go kayaking during low tide, make sure you don't stay out when the tide comes in. It's a very fast moving current and it makes it difficult to get back!

It's pitch black at night (I live in Boston so I literally forgot what darkness is), so if you have a dog bring a good flashlight or headlight for your night time walks.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review! I definitely agree with all your recommendations-living in a city myself, I tend to forget how dark it can be at night. We do provide many flashlights but a headlight is a great suggestion as well. I hope you were able to look up and enjoy the stars. They always amaze me, even after spending so many summers in Maine. I hope you can return someday soon. Amy

Wonderful Experience!

  • 5 of 5

The home was immaculate upon our arrival. It easily accommodated six of us. Comfortable, well furnished and well stocked with the essential amenities.

Beautifully situated on the water. We all spent many hours in the kayaks exploring nearby coves and paddling in the evening among the resident seal population. The weather was very cooperative and the sunsets on the porch overlooking the water were usually quite spectacular.

Friendship is an excellent base for exploring mid-coast Maine

Amy was very accessible when needed. We experienced one small problem with the septic system, but it was immediately taken care of. We had two large dogs with us, both of whom greatly enjoyed the porch and the property. The neighbors could not have been kinder or more helpful.

We will definitely return, hopefully on an annual basis with our family. This is truly a wonderful place. You can be as active (or inactive) as you wish and thoroughly enjoy yourself. We highly recommend it!
