Interaction with Guests
- Friendly hosts who want to make sure you enjoy your stay, and are happy to provide tips!
We love interacting with our guests, but also greatly respect their privacy. We live just a few blocks away from the space, and are happy to help with any questions you may have. We've lived in the city for over 25 years and are happy to give suggestions on local secrets. My father is also happy to lead some free hikes around the neighborhood if requested in advance!
The Sunset is a safe and relaxing neighborhood just outside the San Francisco downtown. There are many great restaurants nearby, easy access to many SF hotspots via public transportation, and proximity to Ocean Beach and the SF Zoo. It is a pleasant area where you can enjoy ocean views and sunsets on a sunny day.
There are 3 main bus lines within a couple of blocks of the space, including a main MUNI line that goes to the heart of downtown in 25 minutes. This L line can be boarded on Taraval St. (2 blocks north), departing every 10 minutes, and making its last trip back at 1:30am.
Another helpful bus line is the 29, which can be boarded on Sunset Ave. (1 block east), and goes to Golden Gate Park, as well as close to the Golden Gate Bridge.
San Francisco also has a number of 'private' taxi services which are cheaper than city cabs. Companies like Uber, Lyft, and Sidecar, give great service and quick, discounted rides.
I would be happy to share free-ride vouchers with you!
Other Things to Note
Come stay with us and enjoy the real San Francisco!
Hi, my name is Felix Remennik, and I grew up in San Francisco, California. I work at Google helping small businesses grow with advertising solutions, and I love my job. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports, writing and listening to music, and doing anything outdoors, especially hiking and camping.
Enjoy our spacious home in a quiet neighborhood close to public transit. Lounge in the large living area, cook in the full kitchen, enjoy sleeping on the new beds, & free parking. Close to the beach and parks. Let us show you the real San Francisco!
The facility itself was fantastic. It is in a safe neighborhood, near the ocean and transportation, shops and restaurants. Everything worked and was clean and comfortable.
The only negative feedback I would have was based on our special needs for parking and lack of direct contact with a person to make that happen. I wasn't able to get a hold of the manager when I needed assistance. It is a shared unit ( 2 units in the same location) and off street parking is available , but hard to manage.
I wold highly recommend this unit to anyone coming to San Francisco for a short visit.
The owners were amazing about answering all of our questions. The unit is absolutely not fancy but is a perfect place for staying with young children. There is access to the backyard and a large garage where the children were able to play. From the website and the note that you could "make yourself something nice" I thought we were getting a kitchenette with stovetop. There is a toaster oven and microwave as well as mini fridge and coffee maker and electric tea kettle. My only disappointment was no stovetop but we managed quite well. If you are traveling with children this place is PERFECT, so much more space than a hotel. If you are not traveling with children you may want to check with the owners as to whether or not the other unit has children booked. The noise between units with their loud running children and our loud running children could really annoy a single person or a couple looking for alone time. We heard the upstairs guests all weekend but we were traveling with children too so didn't mind. The place was very clean. It was stocked with coffee, tea, dishes, wifi and so much more. Laundry on sight for a donation. Overall, fabulous time. We give it 4/5 the final star missing because of the website leading us to believe there was a stove and the noisy upstairs. Owners were not onsite but were instantly available by email for questions and information about the home and city. 10 stars for the owners!!!
Very nice stay in this ground floor unit with a backyard. Big enough for a family of 4, and well stocked with amenities. Owner says they recently put in carpeting and insulation from the upstairs unit, which seems to have helped as we didn't have any issues with noise.
Stains on the carpet, what looked like blood stains on the bedspread (very small, but enough to gross out my teenage daughter), torn up screen on the bathroom window, blinds that didn't work on the sliding glass door. Musty odor. And, yes, the neighbors upstairs were very noisy, and their kids looked in our bathroom window and door into the bedroom.
We saved a few bucks as compared to a hotel room, but had little space anyway, and wished we got the clean, quiet hotel instead.
We were visiting with our kids, and it was great to have a place close to the park and the SF Zoo. Felix was very helpful in sharing some local tips, and there are a few great restaurants in the area.
