Beautifully decorated. Quiet & remote. Beautiful views of the St. James river. Not much happening in Scottsville, VA, but if that's what you're looking for, this place has it.
About an easy 30 minute ride in to Charlottesville for more dining options. We absolutely recommend this home.
We had a great time here! The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. Even the sofa bed was comfortable with the mattress topper the hosts provided. The location is secluded (only one other house on the property) and the views were wonderful. We enjoyed the deck! Thank you!
This place is a joy and a prize! We may go back to VA just to stay here. Close to everything and private and cozy.
We recently stayed at this home for 5 days. It was the most relaxing part of our trip. The view of the James River and the hillside from the deck was wonderful. The house is very open, clean and the kitchen is stocked with every utensil and pan you would ever need. The house is set back from the road so it is very quiet at night. We even saw fireflies! The small town of Scottsville is less than 2 miles away. It has a great coffee shop and a couple of good restaurants. We did not spend time in Charlottesville because we had everything we needed in Scottsville. It is a good location for visiting Montpelier, Monticello and the nearby wineries.
We would recommend this place for someone who wants to relax in the country!
The cottage is well stocked with things you may have forgotten and I couldn't have asked for a better location. The view off of the back deck is absolutely stunning. The water pressure was less than perfect but I'm guessing that's what comes with staying in such a secluded area.
The address they have listed did not show up on Google maps so I would recommend using the directions they give you. Also, the email they have listed for the 'local contact' does not work either.
Evolve rentals was not the best company to work with. Our credit card information had changed from the time we submitted our deposit to the time the rest of the payment was due so I tried several times to email or call the company. I never received a response to any of my emails and when I would call no one would answer and there was no answering machine, it just kept ringing. They finally called me when my credit card information didn't go through... I'm happy it all worked out but I was very frustrated I couldn't handle it sooner.
The cabin was beautiful, bathtub humongous, well stocked kit heck, extra blanket and pillows, there was absolutely nothing we could have needed that wasn't already there. The cicadas would sing to the beautiful morning sunshine and at night the frogs would sing to the moon while we payed in the grass and stargazed. With the James River running right next to the cabin, you could ask for nothing more. It was so serene and peaceful I didn't want to leave!!!!!!
