Light, airy 3-bedroom apartment in an 1870s home in the middle of town. From this peaceful ground-floor oasis you can walk to it all: restaurants, wine bars, art, music, antiques, the train, and the banks of the Hudson. Wi-fi, basic cable, full kitchen.
Named for its Union Street location and domestic tranquility, A More Perfect Union is located exactly mid-town and provides a comfortable home base for jaunts around Hudson or farther afield. With all the necessities and niceties of home provided, including a fully equipped kitchen, you can make meals or espresso on your own schedule, or host an intimate gathering complete with table linens and candelabra. There's also a barbecue on the patio and enough seating for a small party.
This House was built shortly after the Civil War, and the public spaces — living room, dining room and kitchen — are spacious with high ceilings. The cozy bedrooms (one with a queen-size bed, two with doubles) are generously appointed with pillows, soft linens, blankets and cozy rugs, and all the beds are super comfortable.
The kitchen is fully equipped, including a pantry with essentials like olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and the bathroom is stocked with toiletries including toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, band-aids, body lotion, rubber duckies, emery boards, an iron and blow dryer... plus a clawfoot tub and enough white towels to make Leona Helmsley weep.
The entire apartment is cozy, clean and restful. You might want to pick up some wine, order a couple of pizzas, throw a movie into the DVD player, and just relax... The whole experience is like borrowing a friend's home.
The first floor is a private, 1,250 square-foot apartment unto itself entered from gracious Union Street, with a back door into an enclosed buddha garden with patio. The apartment, whose ideal location — smack-dab in the middle of Hudson — cannot be beat, shares only its entry and rear hallways with the upper stories of the house, and has its own thermostat and air conditioning.

The neighborhood: Just around the corner from the tranquility of Union Street, the bustle of Hudson's main drag beckons. Warren Street is a burgeoning thoroughfare stretching from the rippling Hudson River to a fountain in the town square. In between you'll find an intriguing range of restaurants, cafes and hole-in-the-wall guerrilla eateries reminiscent of the West Village, art galleries, boulangeries, boutiques, antiques, and all things fashionable for home and humans. In 10 minutes, you can also lose yourself in rolling countryside framed by the Catskills.
I am reachable by e-mail or phone from booking through your stay — and usually available in person while you're here. I do my best before you arrive to fulfill any specific requests, then respect the privacy of your apartment (unless called upon) after greeting you with the key when you get here.
GUESTS ARE WELCOME FOR A ONE-NIGHT STAY MONDAY-THURSDAY, AND SOMETIMES ON WEEKENDS, DEPENDING ON THE SEASON AND AVAILABILITY. JUNE THROUGH OCTOBER, PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO RESERVATIONS OF TWO NIGHTS OR MORE ON WEEKENDS. PLEASE INQUIRE.

I have lived in Hudson, New York, since 1999. Hudson is a vibrant mini-city with arts, antiques, excellent restaurants, music, auctions, shops, and, of course, the Hudson River. Whether you want to scout stylish home decor or paint like a Hudson River School painter, you can do it here. I am happy to provide you with a tranquil, comfortable apartment steps from the center of town.

A More Perfect Union is located exactly mid-town on a safe, quiet street in an peaceful neighborhood abounding in wonderful old architecture. It's less than a minute's walk from the house to Warren Street, Hudson's burgeoning main drag with all its restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, antiques, fashions vintage and au courant for home and humans, and of course the Hudson River. The enclosed buddha garden offers a tranquil respite for breakfast, a barbecue, or relaxing at night with a glass of wine after coming home from a wedding.
My family's recent stay in a Hudson for my daughters wedding was worry free thanks to Ellen and her wonderful properties. Ellen went above and beyond answering all my questions and making sure I felt confident that all would be perfect The apartments both a More Perfect Union and Blue Skies are charming and comfortable. Centrally located , making it a wonderful place for our family to gather before and after the wedding. I highly recommend staying with Ellen, the experience could not have been better.
Our family of 4 stayed in A More Perfect Union apartment in Hudson for two nights while we were in town for a wedding. The previous place we had booked cancelled on us with only 2 weeks left until the wedding (panic time, as all the hotels in town were fully booked by then). Thankfully, this apartment was available and we were able to book in on short notice- I'm glad we stayed here instead! The apartment is lovely, with beautiful and unique decorations from all over the world-- and more importantly, everything we could have needed was right there. Extra toothbrushes, towels, good coffee, half & half, fruit and breakfast foods- I am fairly positive if I had needed a sewing kit or an aspirin for a headache I would have found them easily. This place is seriously well stocked, and the owner is so friendly and helpful. And you can't beat the location- one block walk to antique shops, restaurants, art galleries, and a bar inside a bookstore (really, who can ask for more?)
Enjoy Hudson on your doorstep with all its restaurants, wine bars, art galleries, boulangeries, antique stores, boutiques with fashions vintage and au courant for home and humans, skiing, hiking, and of course the Hudson River.
