It was so fun driving in your lovely driveway and having absolutely no idea of what we would find at the other end. This place is heaven! What an absolutely beautiful, beautiful, beautiful view. The "back of the marsh", with the dunes and ocean beyond, is so peaceful. There's not a building in sight, and the long view is framed by woods on either side, with "accents" of granite outcroppings.
This is a really special family place, inherited by the generation after the couple who built it. The father was described recently as having a "character that epitomized open-mindedness, active listening and unconditional love", and this whole serene spot makes one feel that way!
great place, very comfortable for a big familly, access to the beaches, privacy, kitchen is complete, clean, owner helpfull and available, we were with our four kids, ad planty of place for all of us, the area is beautiful. will come back , highly recommanded!!
My family and I rented this house last week and had a wonderful time. There were eight adults staying in the house and we never felt crowded. There were enough bedrooms and beds for all of us. we loved that the dinning room table was big enough to fit everyone around and still have room for food. The view from the back deck was amazing! A couple of us took the canoe down through the marsh to the ocean at high tied and had a wonderful time. The Small Point beach is beautiful and very flat. An easy 5 min drive down the road with a short walking from the parking lot to the beach. The house is a short 30 min drive from Bath. The owners are wonderful. We had a storm that we lost power in and the owners were very responsive about getting the generator running and bringing candles and a lamp. As another reviewer mentioned the mosquitoes can be a lot but just make sure you have bug spray. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone.
The property was absolutely perfect. The view from the back window and back deck is breathtaking. The kitchen and common rooms are roomy, clean and filled with interesting books, records and antiques. The bedrooms are comfortable and the showers were clean and comfortable. There is nothing negative to say about this idyllic remote location other than the fact that there are a lot of mosquitoes where you park and unpack your car. The owners are awesome. It's close to Popham beach and has access to a beach club that is easy find. Great find!
We had a wonderful visit in this special home on the coast of Maine. The location is incredibly private and the views from the house are spectacular. The light on the marsh, especially at sunset, is truly magical! The main floor has an open kitchen, dining and living area with charming furnishings and a wood-burning fireplace. We also enjoyed spending time in the comfortable screen porch off the living room. Although the location is very private, we were within an easy drive to the Bates-Morse Preserve, Popham beach state park and Sebasco Estates resort. From Popham, we took a ferry to Seguin Island and explored the historic lighthouse. We also had a delicious seafood dinner at the nearby Lobster House restaurant. We highly recommend this peaceful spot and look forward to returning soon!
