Our ski team from the midwest was skiing at Eldora over New Year's. Barry's place was perfect for us. Spacious enough to relax, yet cozy enough to be within our budget. The gas fireplace and sauna were nice amenities.
Clean cozy, nice fireplace, good views, bedrooms well placed. Very close to Boulder downtown area and the pedestrian mall. If you plan to do much cooking you will need to improvise, not a lot of kitchen equipment and very little counter space. Only one bathroom. Very steep drive and very steep steps, if you have mobility issues you will be challenged. Newly constructed less steep stone walk way is helpful but needs a hand rail.
We enjoyed our holiday there.
If you want great views, and a mountain feeling, this is the place. I see some of the reviews talk about the steep driveway and stairs, don't let this stop you from staying in this beautiful rental, it really isn't that bad. The house was really clean, comfortable furniture and beds, but the best thing about this place is the amazing views and the location. The sauna was also an amazing bonus. It is an experience we will never forget, and if we come again to Boulder, we will definitely be staying there again.
This is a nice, if not just a little funky, property. The only things that keep it from being a 5-star spot are the extremely steep driveway, with only room for one car at the top (and no place to turn around, you have to back down), and the preponderance of some sort of flying beetle. There are a couple parking spaces at the bottom of the driveway, but the walk up is strenuous. The bugs were probably just the result of the time of year (mid-October), and were mostly no big deal. The place was very clean and comfy otherwise. The only other minor issue was the fact that one bedroom has a very short entry and a low ceiling, which wasn't a huge problem for us, but might be an annoyance for a tall person.
Overall, for the price and location, it's a great option, and we would recommend it to any group that didn't include an elderly or infirm person. (They would be challenged by the driveway and stairs throughout.)
Very clean, well organized house with three, really nicely furnished bedrooms and nice living room. Plain, which I like, with fresh flowers the only (and thoughtful) frill. Cotton blankets left us a little cool at night -- comforters would be a nice addition and maybe some down pillows, but otherwise the beds are comfortable. House is right across the windy, somewhat busy Canyon Road from Boulder Creek (?) and bike trail, and it is an easy drive into town, Pearl Street, and CU. We had great meals at Shine, Zeal, and the Dushambe Tea House and a really amazing car trip up to Flagstaff. Bottled water in fridge unnecessary as Boulder water seems really good (we drank a lot of water to prevent altitude sickness) -- and bottled water really not ecologically or economically a good idea. Sorry to seem kind of snobby about plastic bottled water. Last but not least, we wanted to use the sauna, which is clean and really nice looking, but we never got to it. Next time. Thank you!
We booked this house for our trip to Boulder with our daughter and our cat :)
The house is fully equipped with anything that might be needed for your stay.
There's a trail right in front of the house, and it takes around 15 minutes to walk to the Pearl Street Mall, which makes it perfectly located.
The owner checked on us when we arrived to make sure everything was 0k, and we counted on him if we needed ANYTHING at all. He is very friendly and helped us with all we needed.
The stay was flawless, no problems at all, very clean and overall a lovely stay at a lovely house. 100% recommended.
