My wife and I moved back to Frederic, MI in 2012. We found this home on one of our trail rides in 2013 and decided to buy it and remodeled it all rustic. I grew up here in the summers and weekends during school season 1970-1974 .
Joe & Sheri Vanassche Trails End River House purchased this cottage in 2013
This property gave my wife and I the water front property we always wanted. It's 5 minutes from our primary residence. This allows us to better serve our guests.
Three viewing decks of the Au Sable river; river access for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and of course, trout fishing. Beautifully landscaped yard with fire pit, horseshoe pit, barbecue and circular drive for easy access to snowmobile and quad trails. Excellent motorcycle riding. Great fall colors. Located right smack in the middle of the snow belt. Miles of marked trails and miles more for you to explore on state land.
We booked this place last minute for a Labor Day weekend of kayaking and ORV trails. We weren't sure quite what to expect but the pictures do not do this place justice. It was definitely more then what we were expecting. The cabin is in a nice quiet location surrounded by trees with lots of sitting areas set up around the property and surprisingly there were NO mosquitoes. There's a perfect spot for launching our kayaks in the river with shallow slow water and a sandy bottom. ORV trails are all over the area and were not crazy busy like other areas in the state especially considering it was Labor Day weekend. Inside the cabin it was very cozy and clean with comfy beds and a great place to relax after a day of play. Lots of charm as well with little decorationing details throughout the property inside and out. The owners were nice and accommodating and we really appreciated the fact that the price posted was the actual price and there weren't any hidden extra fees. We definitely look forward to coming back to this property.
I can not say enough nice things. The house was perfect and Sheri is probably one of the nicest people I have ever met. We will definitely be going back.
Great place to stay- we didn't want to leave! Inside the cabin was perfect very clean! The yard at the time of our stay was a bit....unorganized for me and I would assume any vacationer.
Big project in the back which was clearly marked off was fine, however there were electrical cords and miscellaneous items spread throughout the yard that made it almost look "junk yardish". So items where somewhat dangerous as well.....like rusted sheet-metal and garbage. I highly recommend to the owners putting things like that away while renting.
Once that was cleaned up to my liking (and iam not picky or a neat freak) it was a wonderful stay overall! I would recommend it. Very nice people! We will be going back! :)
We had a awesome time at this cottage. Its everything we wanted.within an hour drive of lots of other places. The cottage was very clean, very nice and we are definitely going back. The owners are wonderful people and very accommodating.
Joe &Sheri are so friendly and pleasant and make you feel like old friends the moment you meet them.
The cabin was so clean and homey and decorated with that "up north" feel. Bed was so comfortable. Such a quiet setting. Hubby loved the 50" television.
The cabin is rather secluded in the pines, but fortunately, the mosquito's were limited.
Can't wait to go back. We stayed two nights this time, and want to stay at least three on our next trip north.
We were looking for a cabin close to snowmobile trails, food, and gas. This cabin meet our needs perfectly. Trails right out the front door, gas and 2-3 food options within a mile. Cabin was clean and the Owners were great with communication and accommodations! Planning to return next winter!
Miles of snowmobiling trails and quad trails, off road vehicle trails.
