Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms , 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-6)

Private pool, garden landscape, panoramic views of Gloucester harbor AND less than 1-mile walk to Good Harbor Beach.

This 2BR apartment comfortably accommodates four on vacation or in town for a graduation weekend, college visits, but it’s also a perfect getaway for anyone looking for a small slice of Heaven on Cape Ann during the off season.

Past guests repeatedly say this apartment is bigger in person and the space looks just like the pictures online. Several said this property is the very best VRBO/HomeAway accommodation they have ever rented. They also write about how cozy and comfy the apartment is, many feel right at home, right away. Just read our stellar reviews.

This apartment is on the second floor of our house, where we live, with our amazing views of Gloucester's Inner Harbor. Within this apartment, there are two bedrooms each with its own private bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a twin bed and a hidden trundle bed for young children with a full bathroom with soaking tub. The second bedroom, off of the living area, has a queen bed and a bathroom with a shower stall. Each bedroom is ideal for couples traveling together, but the twin & trundle bed make it flexible for up to 6 people. The living room couch is extra long and comfy for sleeping but it is not a sleep-sofa.

The apartment has its own separate entrance and our guests tell they feel they have a lot of privacy while staying with us, even though we share the same house. There is off-street parking for up to 3 cars. The open living-dining space has a dining room table that can seat 4, flat screen TV with basic cable, WiFi, a comfy sofa with coffee table, two over-sized chairs, and a breakfast bar with 4 stools at the kitchen counter. The well-equipped kitchen has an oven/stove, fridge with freezer, coffeemaker, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, and full set of dishes, pots & pans, flatware and many utensils. If anything is missing, just let us know. We’re right downstairs!

I am Rebecca and manage this property. I live on the first floor below this apartment with my retired mother, Dot, (aka 'Gloucester Quilter') who quilts and gardens at home. One of us is always on hand to attend to any question or concern.

We are very knowledgeable about how best to experience the North Shore and day trips in our region and towns across New England. We will reply with a quote along with our comprehensive, 6-page, visitors guide which includes heaps of local do's and don'ts.

Great view

  • 5 of 5

Nice hosts, be aware you share the home with the owners, as stated in the description. No a problem as the entrance is separate from the owners living area. Great view, worth returning for the view. Rooms are spacious and kitchen is well appointed with plenty of equipment to make any meal and easy coffee maker.

So Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Rebecca and Dot have thought of everything one would need.

The kitchen was so abundantly stocked with fine, quality glass ware and dishes.

The beds are very comfortable with quality linens and towels. We were so happy to have our dogs with us.

Rebecca and Dot are very cordial. We enjoyed our conversations with them.

Cozy retreat

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Quilter’s cottage. We enjoyed the view of Gloucester harbor very much. We were there in December so did not get to enjoy the view from the top of the hill, but it did look inviting. We would definitely stay here again. Dot and Rebecca were very accommodating.

Owner's Response: Love that Bruce & Betsy are our 100th review! From the moment we met them, we knew we had met friends, not guests staying at our property. They chose to stay with us for a holiday get away with their son and his wife. They usually go to Southern Maine but opted for a Cape Ann instead. And they loved it - the food at local restaurants, our 3 Labs and the seacoast coupled with a small snow event. Even better, Betsy works at a quilt store and Dot's a full time quilter and I went to college near where they live so there was much to share! We tend to get fellow New England folk as guests during the winter months but we also very much enjoy welcoming people from all over the country to enjoy our property and our community during any season.

Beyond all expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Dot and Rebecca provide a very comfortable home away from home with a great deal of care to our needs. Communication from start to finish was excellent. The apartment was charming and cozy. The views were great. All in all we couldn't be more pleased with our stay.

Owner's Response: Christopher is an American businessman and was traveling from Asia on is way back to Cape Ann to enjoy some lovely memories from his childhood. I love that he mentioned the level of communication I share with guests before they arrive and I truly want to make sure I can help every guest get the most our of their time here at our property, as well as our region and where ever they may be going next. When Christopher and his friends arrived, they had been through many time zones and just needed to sleep and relax. They found our property so comfortable they even bought some of Dot's quilts - which are handmade with lost of love. We're glad their going to a great home ~ Rebecca & Dot

About Rebecca Borden

My mother has owned in this property since 2000. I moved back home in 2009 to help support her. We decided to join VRBO in Nov'11 after we had such a positive experience renting ourselves through VBRO. We have enjoyed hosting some great guests from all over the country and internationally!

This apartment is an 'in-law' apartment on the second floor of the house where we live on the first floor. We love sharing our property, pool (in summer) and landscape with our guests. As our reviews confirm, we have had many happy guests.

We do not rent for extended stays because, while we have had many amazing visitors, we did have a few bad apples . We are cautious about sharing our property with incompatible 'neighbors' for extended stays. Those are our terms and we hope you respect our perspective.

As a policy, we do not give out our address for privacy and security reasons. We live here along with our neighbors in one of the best kept secret locations on Cape Ann. We feel our online reviews speak for themselves.

Why Rebecca Borden chose Gloucester

Gloucester and Cape Ann are an hour from Boston. We have amazing beaches, rich history and cultural legacy and award winning restaurants. You can easily take a day trip to Boston by commuter rail and come back and see a glorious sunset over the harbor.
