About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

WELCOME! From the instant you enter the living area, you will drop your suitcases and stand in awe at the magnificent ocean and sea stacks seen a short distance below. Our condo is considered a prime location at Rainbow Rock because of its unobstructed over 180 degree view south down the Oregon Coast and west out to sea.

A truly beautiful few minutes private access walk along a well groomed winding path and over a wooden bridge to our private deeded beach will lead you to Rainbow Rock's own pot of gold, a cave with unique rock formations which are a geological wonder. When the sun is pouring into the cave colorful rocks go dancing before your very eyes! The beach has driftwood and sea stacks, star fish and mussels, and you will be able to have enjoyable long walks along the coast toward the town of Brookings. Access to this beach is private, for owners and their guests (that's you!) and more often than not, you will have it all to yourselves!

If you like whale watching, pristine tide pools, beachcombing, star gazing, sensational sunsets, hiking (the Coastal Trail is practically at your door step), and sitting in the condo or on the deck watching the waves roll in, then you've picked the perfect place--our balcony! Seasonally, whales stop to socialize with one another right in front of the Rainbow Rock condos, often staying for days at a time. They seem to love showing off by spouting and flipping their tails up in the air, almost like they are inviting you to come play. There is a lookout place just below our condo on Highway 101 (the Coastal Highway) where people pull over to whale watch. The fantastic Harris Beach State Park, just a mile or so away, has a group of locals who offer whale watching tips during winter migration to Mexico where, in the warmer waters of Baja, their babies are born.

Our condo is comfortable and family friendly. It is exceptionally CLEAN and well equiped with furnished linens and kitchen appliances. A gas BBQ is at the ready and a Jen Air stove has a grill. Everything from a popcorn popper to a breadmaker is available for your comfort and use. The master bedroom has its own bathroom and there is also a guest bathroom close to the guest bedroom. The guest bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, the master bedroom has a king size bed, and there is a hide-a-bed in the living room. Pillows are all in protective covers as are the mattresses.

The ocean can be seen from most rooms in the condo, exceptions are the bathrooms and the guest bedroom which overlooks the Rainbow Rock complex. The rhythmic sound of the ocean can be heard from the living, masterbedroom, and kitchen areas, especially when the sliding glass doors and windows are open, adding to the atmosphere of being at the fabulous Oregon Coast. From this condo highway traffic is not heard so you can enjoy the deck while reading, visiting or just watching the exciting ocean scene. This is a top floor (3rd) end unit affording all the privacy you could want.

Keywords: Ocean front condo, gated community, private beaches, beautiful setting, easy pathway to beach, Coastal trail behind property, close to town activities, golf, hiking & fishing.

About Ron Vogel

We have greatly enjoyed our condo for the past decade. Until we retired in 2006, we were able to spend many long weekends, an easy drive from our home in California. It was always such a nice break from my husbands busy medical practice to relax for awhile at Rainbow Rock. Crabbing down at the wharf in Harbor, just across the bridge from Brookings and visiting local parks and beaches are what we like to do. We also love the nearby Redwood groves, forests and lighthouses along the Southern Oregon coast.

Ron Vogel purchased this condo in 2002

Why Ron Vogel chose Coastal Oregon

We love the Oregon Coast! We also have a large family and wanted to provide a place for them to enjoy. We had looked at many possibilities up and down the coast and liked Brookings best. This area of the Oregon coast is called the banana belt because of its warmer weather. Brookings is big enough for good places to eat and fun things to do but small enough to not feel hurried. It is close to wonderful things to see like the Redwoods and small port towns. It is a great location and on the ocean, couldn't ask for more! Our grandchildren find lots to do here and love to come visit us.....that's a big plus!

What makes this condo unique

Serenity, beauty, comfortable, safe gated community, nice people to meet, short walk to the beach through a lovely wooded area that is well kept, close to town, fishing, for starters. Wild blackberries grow along the mountain pathway below the condo and we enjoy picking them to eat and bake a pie. The Coastal Trail by the condo leads to a lookout over the ocean via a wooded pathway that crosses a little bridge, It is a nice walk through pines and ferns.

Fantabulous Five Star Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Rainbow Rock is such an amazing treasure. I told my hubby early on in our dating life that the ocean is "the elixir of life." He still makes fun of me for that one...but truly, the location of this condo, if you are an ocean lover, cannot be beat. The views are priceless, the walking trails, tide pools, rocks and driftwood are all magnificent. The condo is really comfortable and amply supplied. This place is great if you just need some down time or if you want to get out and explore. We hail from the Portland area and headed home through Crescent City and Jedediah State Park. The coastal redwoods were just icing on an amazing cake. Thanks Ron and Nancy, we are telling our friends about your place and hope to return ourselves again one day.

Owner's Response: I am left longing for the beach, after reading your review! You really don't have to do any beach seeking from our place, as Rainbow Rock's private beach has everything you came to the Southern Oregon Coast to see. The short walk down a well groomed pathway, through a lovely forest complete with lush ferns, wild blackberries and seasonal flowers takes you to the beach. Once there, get ready to explore an interesting cave in addition to everything already mentioned.

View just as beautiful as advertised

  • 4 of 5

Great location with direct access to the beach as well as being close to downtown Brookings. It was also a great jumping off point for visiting the Redwood Forest National park just south in CA. We really enjoyed the balcony that overlooked the water. The living room and kitchen were comfortable. Our stay was short so we didn't make use of all of the amenities offered. I would recommend this for anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Owner's Response: It will soon be whale watching season, as they travel to Baja, Mexico, to give birth and then return to Alaska in the Spring. If you want a birds-eye view of their travels south, than our view cannot be equaled! Resident whales can also be spotted in front of our place throughout the year. We make efforts to present a welcoming and inviting environment at our condo, along with cleanliness and ample supplies for your visit.

Rainbow Rock

  • 4 of 5

The home was very nice, comfortable and had everything we needed. The view is spectacular! We secured the condo for three days. Unfortunately, the Chetco Bar fire was advancing toward Brookings the same time we were! We had to cut our trip short by one day due to unhealthy air quality and ash. We would love to come back to this home again someday and enjoy the beautiful beach below.

Owner's Response: You folks were champs! The Chetco Bar Fire was threatening the whole town of Brookings and smoke in the area lay heavy in the air. We look forward to your next visit, too, when you can get out more. Brookings and our coast area is such a great place to explore. Good air, great people. Can't beat that when looking for a nice place to vacation!

Unbelievable location

  • 5 of 5

Our visit to Rainbow Rock was, again, a wonderful experience. Each year seems to be better than the one before.

The view from the livingroom and dining room are spectacular. The sound of the ocean waves from the bedroom lull you to sleep.

The condo is very well appointed, from the living room sofas fo the very comfortable king bed. The fully equipped kitchen was nice, as was the full sized washer dryer in the condo. We were even able to enjoy some time on the beautiful deck, with its unobstructed ocean and coast line views.

For things to do, you might enjoy Alfred Loeb State Park. There is a nice hiking trail along the Chetco River, which is fairly easy to do and a great view along the river. Jerry's Jetboats are always a fun activity, in Gold Beach.

Owner's Response: Summer's wind-down brings our most favorite time of year to enjoy the Brookings area of Oregon. Blackberry picking evolving into delicious fresh, from our oven, pie eaten while watching, from our deck, ocean waves licking the sand.....is what we call livin' the life! Our area is such a wonderful place to discover beautiful walks/hikes along the ocean and into the woods. Nature at its finest presents a Fall feast for your eyes, right from our deck!

RELAXING!!!

  • 5 of 5

The condo is absolutely beautiful, the views were even better than the pictures made it out to be. We enjoyed a week of deep sea fishing, playing in the river, and relaxing on the beautiful beach. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone thinking about going to Brookings on vacation!

Owner's Response: You've said it all! Brookings is a great place to come and we love our guests! Admittedly, we want our vacation renters to leave with good thoughts about their time spent at our place, and have been well rewarded for sharing our little peace of Heaven on Earth, as we hear of your experiences.
