WELCOME! From the instant you enter the living area, you will drop your suitcases and stand in awe at the magnificent ocean and sea stacks seen a short distance below. Our condo is considered a prime location at Rainbow Rock because of its unobstructed over 180 degree view south down the Oregon Coast and west out to sea.
A truly beautiful few minutes private access walk along a well groomed winding path and over a wooden bridge to our private deeded beach will lead you to Rainbow Rock's own pot of gold, a cave with unique rock formations which are a geological wonder. When the sun is pouring into the cave colorful rocks go dancing before your very eyes! The beach has driftwood and sea stacks, star fish and mussels, and you will be able to have enjoyable long walks along the coast toward the town of Brookings. Access to this beach is private, for owners and their guests (that's you!) and more often than not, you will have it all to yourselves!
If you like whale watching, pristine tide pools, beachcombing, star gazing, sensational sunsets, hiking (the Coastal Trail is practically at your door step), and sitting in the condo or on the deck watching the waves roll in, then you've picked the perfect place--our balcony! Seasonally, whales stop to socialize with one another right in front of the Rainbow Rock condos, often staying for days at a time. They seem to love showing off by spouting and flipping their tails up in the air, almost like they are inviting you to come play. There is a lookout place just below our condo on Highway 101 (the Coastal Highway) where people pull over to whale watch. The fantastic Harris Beach State Park, just a mile or so away, has a group of locals who offer whale watching tips during winter migration to Mexico where, in the warmer waters of Baja, their babies are born.
Our condo is comfortable and family friendly. It is exceptionally CLEAN and well equiped with furnished linens and kitchen appliances. A gas BBQ is at the ready and a Jen Air stove has a grill. Everything from a popcorn popper to a breadmaker is available for your comfort and use. The master bedroom has its own bathroom and there is also a guest bathroom close to the guest bedroom. The guest bedroom has a double bed and a single bed, the master bedroom has a king size bed, and there is a hide-a-bed in the living room. Pillows are all in protective covers as are the mattresses.
The ocean can be seen from most rooms in the condo, exceptions are the bathrooms and the guest bedroom which overlooks the Rainbow Rock complex. The rhythmic sound of the ocean can be heard from the living, masterbedroom, and kitchen areas, especially when the sliding glass doors and windows are open, adding to the atmosphere of being at the fabulous Oregon Coast. From this condo highway traffic is not heard so you can enjoy the deck while reading, visiting or just watching the exciting ocean scene. This is a top floor (3rd) end unit affording all the privacy you could want.

We have greatly enjoyed our condo for the past decade. Until we retired in 2006, we were able to spend many long weekends, an easy drive from our home in California. It was always such a nice break from my husbands busy medical practice to relax for awhile at Rainbow Rock. Crabbing down at the wharf in Harbor, just across the bridge from Brookings and visiting local parks and beaches are what we like to do. We also love the nearby Redwood groves, forests and lighthouses along the Southern Oregon coast.
Nancy Vogel purchased this condo in 2002
We love the Oregon Coast! We also have a large family and wanted to provide a place for them to enjoy. We had looked at many possibilities up and down the coast and liked Brookings best. This area of the Oregon coast is called the banana belt because of its warmer weather. Brookings is big enough for good places to eat and fun things to do but small enough to not feel hurried. It is close to wonderful things to see like the Redwoods and small port towns. It is a great location and on the ocean, couldn't ask for more! Our grandchildren find lots to do here and love to come visit us.....that's a big plus!
Serenity, beauty, comfortable, safe gated community, nice people to meet, short walk to the beach through a lovely wooded area that is well kept, close to town, fishing, for starters. Wild blackberries grow along the mountain pathway below the condo and we enjoy picking them to eat and bake a pie. The Coastal Trail by the condo leads to a lookout over the ocean via a wooded pathway that crosses a little bridge, It is a nice walk through pines and ferns.
The condo had everything we needed. It was so nice to come home after a day of beach or sightseeing to relax. It really did feel like coming home. We spent a lot of time out on the balcony. We particularly liked sitting on the balcony at night with hot coffee wrapped up in throws enjoying the crisp, cool, sea air and watching the stars twinkle. Some of us couldn't do the hike up from the beach, but Harris Beach is so close and has ramps all the way down to the sand. It is also close to the Jedediah Smith Redwoods, the elk herd and the Ocean Beach Aquarium in Crescent City. So, everyone from the 17 mo old to the 77 year old had a wonderful beach experience. We have already talked about when we can come back. I appreciated how Nancy really cared about us and wanted us to have a good time. Her instructions were great and everything went without a hitch! Thanks, Nancy.
Thanks so much for sharing your part of paradise with us. We were at home as soon as we unlocked the door. Great place! If we are ever back this way we will be sure to stay here, again.
We had a wonderful stay at the condo. Very well equipped with anything you would need for a great stay.
The kitchen was stocked with plenty of pots. pans, cutlery, plates etc.as well as extras that you wouldn't expect.
The decorations were very tasteful and relaxing to look at.
Comfort was top notch from the bed to the couch.
We really enjoyed using the barbeque provided while watching the truly amazing view.
We have stayed in many (20+) vacation rentals over the years and this was by far the most comfortable and well thought out condo.
Very impressed, thank you Nancy for your thoughtfulness when designing and furnishing the condo.
We would highly recommend taking Jerry's Jet Boat tour in Gold Beach(approx.25mile drive)
Fred Meyer grocery store is really well stocked and reasonably priced.
The views from the 3rd floor, end unit were the greatest. So nice to be able to look directly west into the distant horizon line, and look out over Rainbow Rock and the beach. Each summer morning we watched the many fishing boats race to their favorite spots.
Interior was nicely set up with a kitchen outfitted to make the most complicated meal, if that is what one wants to do on vacation.
Only suggestions would be to offer a second key to front door for both of us had different schedules and one key was not enough. plus check-out time of 11 am came awfully early. Couldn't that be extended to noon?
thanks for sharing a wonderful place. We hope to return to this specific spot soon and often.
We stayed for just two overnights, but everyone wished we could have stayed longer. The rooms were large and comfortable. The view was outstanding. The electric fireplace was fun. We'd definitely consider staying here another time if we go to Brookings again.
This was an awesome experience, should of stayed longer. The serene setting in a comfortable home makes this place one of my favorite of all my rentals! The walk to the beach with the florals, rabbits and scenery is an awe inspiring experience. Sitting on the balcony in the morning, drinking my coffee watching the fog drift into the sky and the deer wander into the ocean makes for a perfect start to your day. The photos I took of the sunsets are some of the best I have ever taken anywhere in the world. Thank you for this wonderful experience I hope to visit again someday!
