Wendy and Alex discovered Cape May in 2006 and love spending our summers in this area. We both grew up in Pennsylvania. We enjoy sharing this property with our guests and work hard to make sure the house is clean and comfortable.
Wendy & Alex purchased this house in 2011
This house Is located is a very nice neighborhood near the bay beach entrance and close to cox hall creek which is great for biking. This area also has a lot of trees, so it has a very natural feel to it. The house is very comfortable and it has excellent flow. The back deck is also a great place to relax and enjoy family and friends. I love to walk on the bay beach, so the location is perfect. It is also convenient to shopping within a few miles.
The bay beach is one of the best kept secrets. There is something for everyone here! Birding, kayaking, walking, biking, and fishing! Staying in a real home provides lots of space for everyone and makes your stay much more enjoyable.
Our family had a wonderful vacation at this bay house! Myself and my husband and our 3 boys stayed the entire week; While my sister and brother in-law and their 3 kids stayed a few days. The house was very roomy so we had plenty of space for everyone! We spent most of our time at the bay which was only a short walk. This was a great spot for us since our kids are young; the water was calm and there were very few people so my kids were able to run and play and I was able to relax! Cape May Beaches were only about 10-15 minutes in the car and Wildwoods was 20 minutes. We did the Wildwoods Boardwalk a few nights and the kids had a blast. Alex and Wendy were really great to us! We contacted them a few times during our trip (our car broke down and I called them one evening. They answered immediately and recommended a mechanic). The house was clean and had everything we needed! Thank you Alex and Wendy for a great first family vacation!
Our week at Alex & Wendy's Bayside Beach house, was perfect! The house is everything that was promised in the literature on the Homeaway site. It was the right size for our grown family of 5 adults. Everyone had their own space. The short walk to the bayside beach was perfect for morning walks and evening sunsets, as well as a place to chill during the day. The house was neat and clean upon our arrival. We actually got to meet Wendy and Alex, for they were there busy working in the yard, weeding and maintaining the property. They are very nice. We were greeted with a nice bottle of "Cape May" wine on the table with the keys and beach tags for the Cape May beaches. The location of the house is about a 10 minute drive into the heart of Cape May, so it is away from the hustle of all that, but close enough so you can drive there without issue. This was our first trip to Cape May, and we will say that it will not be our last. We would definitely stay at this property again. Thanks Wendy & Alex!
Stayed in this home with my husband and three children for a long weekend over Labor Day weekend 2015. The home is everything you see- clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location is one easy walk block from the bay and we enjoyed the quiet unpopulated beach and kayaking and sunsets everyday. 10-15 minute drive to the ocean side through the beautiful homes of historic Cape May. Communication with the owners was excellent and a bottle of wine awaited us when we arrived- so very sweet!. Our family would highly recommend this comfortable home for your vacation.
Five of us from all parts of the northeast get together once a year. This year we chose Cape May and found this wonderful house! We rented it from Sept 22-25 and it was perfect for us! The owners were very easy to work with and left us such complete directions and suggestions that we had no problems whatsoever! The house was clean, the beds comfortable, plenty of nice places to sit together (living room, kitchen, back patio) We couldn't believe how close it was to the Bay. We took the chairs the owners provided and some wine and walked to watch the sunset. Also enjoyed poking around Cape May! The house is well equipped and...well, can't say enough! Perfect!
The house was clean, very spacious and comfortable. It was close to everything we wanted. Alex and Wendy were very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We would recommend this house to anyone. We had a great vacation here! Sunset beach was our favorite.
The Cape Escape was a great vacation spot. Spacious bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a nice floor plan made it easy for 5 adults and 3 teens to enjoy a family reunion. The yard provided a nice place to gather. (We brought a croquet set and enjoyed several games. There was a wading pool in the garage for small children.) The deck with comfortable chairs provided a great place for those who wanted to sit and read or visit. We chose to prepare almost all of our meals at home and found adequate cooking pots, plates and glasses. The grill got a lot of use and the large fridge and some empty cupboards provided ample room for storing groceries.
It is truly a short 1-block walk to the beach on the bay ... quiet with an almost-private feel. The sunsets were gorgeous, the seas life abundant, and the kayak was a huge bonus. It was a beautiful neighborhood for walking ... the many birds and the bullfrogs in a nearby neighborhood lake made a quiet backdrop to evening walks.
It was an easy drive to many attractions in Cape May -- a great sea side town with lots of history, scenic areas and wildlife conservation. The beaches were beautiful -- clean and plentiful, complete with dolphins off the coast. The state park was great, as were many other attractions. There is a Wawa gas station within 3-4 minutes and an Acme grocery within 7-8 minutes. Lots of opportunities to eat within a short drive. A great place for a variety of ages!
Alex and Wendy were extremely organized, providing detailed information about their home and responding quickly to any questions or concerns. The refund of the security deposit was very prompt.
We had a wonderful stay -- loved the location and appreciated the ease with which we could communicate with the owners, and the cleanliness of the home. A great way to feel "at home" and "away form home" at the same time!
The home is centrally located to activities and shopping. 2 Shopping centers near by with food market, restaurants, fitness center, post office, dollar store, Radio Shack, Gorman's Liquor Store and more. 2 miles to the Cape May/Lewes Ferry - take a day trip to the outlets in Lewes, DE., 5 miles to Cape May or 8 miles to Wildwood for ocean beaches, boadwalks and amusement piers. There are bike and walking trails in the Villas Wildlife Management Area just a few blocks away. Cape May Harbor with several marinas for all your boating and charter fishing. 200 steps from the house to the Delaware Bay to swim, fish, walk or just sit and relax.
