On the 5 acres of grounds, there is a stocked pond with a fountain pump, plenty of room for parking, and 'Waterfield's Garage' which is a picnic area with kitchenette, bar area, half bath, outdoor grill, and carport. This is a perfect place to unwind after a day of outdoor activities. An outdoor kennel area is available for pets. More details can be viewed at our website.

The property was originally owned by Herbert Lee Waterfield. An avid duck hunter and fisherman, Herbert Lee was well-known for his generosity and larger-than-life presence. He was never afraid to improve upon what he had: he reclaimed two of the three acres of open land on the Waterfield grounds, and left the remaining swamp and marshland for wildlife habitat. His idea to turn the garage to a picnic area led to many years of cookouts and happy memories for his family.
The house has now passed to a new generation, and we keep Herbert Lee's memories and ideals in mind with Waterfield Lodge. Much of the hunting paraphernalia in the home belonged to Herbert Lee, and if you ask around you'll find many locals still remember him. We live up to the ideal of always improving, so we strive to make the Waterfield Place the most efficient, most comfortable getaway in the area.

We loved our stay. A family home built in 1947 by the owner's father. Meticulously maintained with a stunning 5 acre property. We really got a sense of history and local flavor -a true taste of the Outer Banks.
The drive to the beach and other attractions was no problem. We liked crossing the bridges and seeing the sights. We also loved that there were spacious kennels with a great view for our dog. Debra was even nice enough to provide some things for a continental breakfast.
Just a couple things to keep in mind. If traveling with small children, be aware this property has a pond and is situated on a very busy highway. Also, the home has a lot of pretty duck sculptures and other breakables that are very intriguing to little kids! There is a 60.00 cleaning fee.
we enjoyed our stay.. was very clean, easy access to stores & beach(short drive). a lot of room for many more than we needed. Owners were very nice.
Our stay was very comfortable with the large kitchen, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, and sunroom. We had plenty of space to stretch out.
Outside was beautiful with the pond, fire pit, basketball goal, and outdoor garage area.
It was just a 10 min ride to grocery stores and the beach, Captain Jack's, and Duck Donought.
The house was just perfect for a weekend getaway. The owner met us and gave us a great tour of the house, lodge and grounds. Comfortable and all the amenities we needed. Very close to the local golf courses! Will definitely request to stay again in the future.
We had a great time. Beach isn't far away for the kids. My husband spent everyday by the pond fishing. I will definitely stay again.
This place was perfect for our family of five! The house and grounds were immaculately clean and well-equipped. There was plenty of room and we did not even need the upstairs bedrooms. The washer/dryer was a very nice perk and got quite a bit of use throughout the week. Our kids loved the outdoor green space, basketball hoop, pond, and fire pit. We spent each day in the Outer Banks and the 10-15 minute drive from this property was not a problem at all. The owners, Ken and Debra, were very friendly and accommodating. We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely consider coming back another time!
