Why Mary Ellen McNaughton & Bill Nelems chose Vernon

This beautiful Log Home in a peaceful and picturesque country setting, is a perfect place to relax and recharge but it is also just 10 min from downtown Vernon.

Activities for all ages and energy levels are close by. We have paragliding 2 minutes away, kayaking, canoeing and hiking, as well as horseback riding, cycling and mountain biking.

Partnering with Ducks Unlimited we have created a reclaimed wetland. Wetlands are the kidney of the planet and very important to our survival. As such it is a Bird watcher and nature lover's paradise. One guest saw 32 different species of birds in his three day stay.

Wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

Ellen was an excellent communicator and very helpful in making our stay at the cottage extra special. Thank you for setting out the hummingbird feeders. The cottage itself is huge, charmingly rustic and located not far out of Vernon but far enough to be quiet and peaceful. Would like to have stayed longer just so that we could have a few days just hanging out on the property.

Beds comfortable, house clean , good kitchen and BBQ facilities, outdoor seats. I recommend it.

Peaceful and cozy...

  • 5 of 5

What a great way to get away from it all! This comfortable, homey "cabin/house" was just what the two of us needed to recover from a big family reunion, and celebrate our anniversary! There are two bedrooms in this house, but room for many more people. The master bedroom has a queen plus two single beds, and plenty of room. There is an adjacent bathroom with soaker jetted tub, and enough room for the whole family! (not in the tub though!). Upstairs in the loft is a double bed, and I think a single too, plus a bathroom with a shower. There is also a little sitting area on a balcony overlooking the open beam livingroom. This place, I was told is about 20 years old, but made me feel like I had taken a trip down memory lane. I'm not sure what you call the logs that are shaved on two sides and then tongue and grooved together, but the walls are this kind of logs, and the warm feeling they portray is very lovely. There is a lounging "bed" (for another sleeper, if necessary) in the living room, plus regular furniture. I loved the old upright grand piano, which I have at home, and play, and the ambiance of the fireplace and the screened front porch. Everything is spacious and comfortable and well maintained. The deck was a lovely private area to relax on with no neighbours anywhere around. We ate most of our meals out there with chirping of birds off in the near distance. Most delightful. We had just come from a lakeview place in Penticton, so this was the opposite of that, yet just what the doctor ordered. Private and peaceful. If you have children, there is furniture for them and toys, and they would love the layout of house alot. We so enjoyed ourselves! It was 5-10 min to Kalamalka beach and to Vernon. Not in the middle of things, but not far either. We enjoyed biking the back roads around this place. Beautiful farmland, and some doozy hills, if you choose. We did, and the view up there was well worth it! Thank you so much Mary Ellen and Bill for sharing your house and area with us and so many!

Rustic and quaint.

  • 4 of 5

Two of our adult sons, my husband and myself enjoyed our week long stay at this authentic log cabin. For our needs it was the perfect size and we loved the acres of unmarred nature right outside the back deck!

Close to everywhere we wanted to go yet far enough away to revel in quiet. We would certainly recommend this lovely cottage to anyone interested in a memorable get away.

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This home comes well equipped. The location is rural, yet very close to Vernon and the beach. This is our second stay there (which we have not done with other homes we have stayed at), so that tells you something.

Well stocked, beautiful property with birds everywhere

  • 5 of 5

We are not "birders" but we do Love connecting with nature. Our trip to Coldstream was mainly for mountain biking and we picked the property because it was close to the trails near Kalamaka lake. The biking in the area was really good but the property was even better. The kids really enjoyed taking pictures of hummingbirds, quail, waxwings, and warblers. We spent our down time walking around the marsh or relaxing on the porch listening to the doves signing. We will be booking again and will return armed with high powered camera lenses and first class binoculars. Caution, you may end up departing a little "Birdier" then you arrived!

Great trip, very relaxing

Golfers weekend away paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location for anyone who is looking for a weekend golf getaway. 15 minutes from predator ridge and many other fine courses!

The property itself was gorgeous and spacious! The perfect balance of feeling secluded yet know you are 5 minutes away from anything you could need.

Plenty of sleeping space, a comfortable lovely fireplace. And a warm inviting open style layout. A nice big back deck with a barbecue and a sun room completes the totally relaxing atmosphere.

The property owner was unbelievably friendly and accommodating and I could not have been more pleased.

Couldn't have been more satisfied with the stay and will definitely be back!
