Not So Good -> Granny's College Crash Pad

  • 2 of 5

We stayed at the condo from Jan 31-Feb 6 2018. It was 3 guys, early 40's, we normally take 2 trips a year...1 "guys trip" the other with girlfriends/wives/family. We have been taking trips like this for the past nearly 20 years and stayed at many resorts using VRBO.

We have stayed at other locations in Park City, this time we thought we would try Canyons. Our options were limited because we booked only about 40-50 days out. The condo appeared ok in the pictures and it seemed walking distance from the bucket lift.

The place was...ehhh...not so good. Think: Grandmas house that never got updated and college kids live there now. That's what you are getting.

Plus you get quirky stuff, like the fireplace only works when you set the thermostat at 80 degrees. And it didn't work. Maintenance got there late one night and fixed it...then it never worked again. I'm sure we weren't the first or last people to have a problem with it.

The TV HDMI cable needs to be replaced. When the sound or picture doesn't come on you need to wiggle the HDMI cable to make it work. The cable channels are very limited.

*TIP: bring an Amazon FireTV stick (Best Buy $25).

The master bed is really uncomfortable. Bring pillows, you won't like these unless you sleep at home on pillows from Big Lots. You might want to plan on washing the sheets before you sleep the first night, one of the upstairs beds had hair all over them. The good news is (as other reviews note) the lighting is really bad in the place so it won't be easy to see hairs, dirt, and whatever else is lurking in the shadows. Honestly I thought the review I read complaining about the lack of light was going a bit far...but having experienced the unit myself I can tell you they are right. It's worse than you think it will be.

If you plan on cooking...which, we are all good cooks and usually make big dinners...just remember I called this place grandmas house where college kids live. That's about the level quality you will be working with here.

The rest of it was really cosmetic...such as the furniture, the rugs on the walls and the other random decor. Really odd stuff. And finally, its really, really a small and tight-spaced place. If you're going to stay there with a few people and add bags/gear and try to locate clothing in the dim light just know that it's not going to be easy to do.

It wasn't all bad. The master bath shower head is really powerful and the water is hot quick! After about day 3 on the mountain that's a nice thing to come home to! :D

My advice to you: keep looking. My 2 stars are being nice.

Good luck!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed at great stay at Red Pines U8 from the 12th-20th Jan 2017. The place was spacious and comfortable- so comfortable it was difficult to get my children to leave to ski or go out for dinner.

We would recommend this place for guests looking fir a trouble free place in the Park City area.

Red Pines Juniper

  • 5 of 5

A fabulous condo ... we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! This condo met all of our needs with a washer/ dryer air conditioner, fans, and all the comforts of home. The management company was extremely responsive to our one minor issue regarding how to operate the TV :)!! This is the second year we've stayed in this particular condo and it was as wonderful as the first time!

Great for 5 single people

  • 4 of 5

The best aspect of this rental is 5 separate beds. The top floor has 4 single beds split into two loft areas. The master bedroom was on the bottom floor.

The service from the company is fantastic. I asked if a slow cooker was available and they provided one.

The place feels a bit dark at times.

Annual Ski Trip

  • 3 of 5

The unit was clean and an ideal size for our vacation. However, the lighting in this unit is TERRIBLE. We had a party of 6 guests (3 couples), I personally stayed in the loft. We literally needed to use the flashlight on our phones to find our clothes in the mornings. There is no ceiling lamps (only in the kitchen), everywhere else, they only have lamps... very few at that. Additionally, both showers cannot be used at the same time, as the water pressure becomes veryyy weak. Unit is within the Canyons Resort (which is a beautiful resort) and very central to the attractions we cared for. The check-in/ check-out process was very simple and owner was very informative. I do believe an 'instruction guide' of some sort would be helpful. We didn't know where to throw out the trash, we couldn't find the ski equipment rental location; just a simple guide for out-of-towners would be very helpful. Overall, unit is not bad, but I will not stay here again. The light and water issue was a big inconvenience for a group who is always on the go, trying to get in and out of the house as quick as we can to enjoy our few days in Park City. Having only 1 shower to use (basically) for 6 people and having to take our clothes near a window to determine the color of our clothes was a huge inconvenience.

Owner's Response: Dear Susanne, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for sharing your feedback. I am pleased that your group found the unit spacious and clean upon your arrival, but that a few changes could have improved your experience. Since your stay, we have added more lamps and lighting to the condo, especially upstairs. We actually do have an area guide, but it is found online under your reservation. We keep it digital because of the changing events and activities in the area. I wish we had pointed that out at the time of your booking. We have also added this information specifically to our reservation emails - pre-arrival, welcome - so that other guests will be well aware. Happy to know that check-in and out was simple and that we kept you well informed. We hope you choose to visit Park City again. Best Regards, Anna Park City Vacation Properties Inc., iTrip

Fun Family Winter Stay for Sundance 2014!

  • 5 of 5

We’ve stayed at a few properties managed by iTrip Park City over the last few years and this was again, a memorable family vacation! We choose to use their services for many reasons, but the key for us is responsive customer service – whether with booking, last minute or special requests – trust of the brand and well cared for properties.

This unit was perfect for us, since we planned to visit during the Sundance Film Festival when prices are at their highest. Since we wanted to partake in the films, activities, events and ski on the off-day, this was not only affordable for us, but comfortable as well. The unit has a ski chalet feel and the amenities available at Red Pine are also a nice feature - pool, hot tubs, clubhouse, etc. Thank you for looking after us so well over the years, my family had another great summer vacation in Park City, Utah and we look forward to our next trip this winter!
