Exquisite grounds located on a private road NOT part of a development or multi-home estate. Privacy is important to us. A traditional house entirely remodeled, new roof, new tiles, new floors, new walls, bathrooms and efficient air conditioning for bedrooms--situated in a lovely tropical garden and lawn with palm trees and a giant panama tree, about 170 by 250 feet in surface-area, with many tropical birds, and an occasional iguana strolling across the lawn. All the rooms with great window-doors views and the kitchen as well look out onto the ocean; the rooms are connected by way of the covered terrace which wraps around the entire house, no interior corridors; the beach in front of us -almost a mile!--is empty much of the time, ie almost private, and accessible through our beach-gate just 10 steps down.. An exceptional feature of the property is the twice-weekly maintenance and cleaning we provide for you by a highly trustworthy couple. Extra cleaning beyond the two days provided can be arranged at renter's expense.
We have installed a deep well so that house and garden are supplied with fresh water and not dependent on town supply pipes -- important since droughts are not unknown in Panama. All appliances are only a couple of years old. Wireless internet is excellent (the maximum available in Panama), although with electrical outages in Panama there are occasional interruptions. Please note that the land-line telephone only calls out to local numbers; you need a four-band cell phone otherwise, and your provider must allow roaming. Chips for cell phones are for sale everywhere for $10, only 'Moviestar' is no good!
Any correspondence regarding rental must take place through our listed email address for your own security!

I am a writer/artist, from New York. My wife and I come here just 3-4 months a year, take excellent care of the property year-round. Every season we are here my wife plants more flowers and shrubs and with the help of our professional gardener it has become an exquisite place to stay.
Marie Helene purchased this house in 2007
Peace, swimming in wonderfully warm (but not too warm!) water, perfect (dry! almost mosquito-free!) weather, none of the storms and hurricanes you get in other parts of Central America, or the very strong winds other places in San Carlos and Coronado have at times because the house is located in a cove protected by cliffs on each side. Unbelievable view (you have to see it to believe it! the entire ocean and cliffs on each side), a friendly people and very safe area.
We buy fish at a fishermen's beach--when the fishermen come up from their boats with the baskets of fish, buying directly from the fishermen-- five minutes drive from our home, a local brings us shrimp; we have mango trees on the property. We have peace and pure pure air.
We (4 adults, a baby and a dog) spent very nice vacation at this beach house. It's right in front of the beach, it has a wonderful garden and when the waves were to strong we just chilled in the pool. The kitchen is well equipped. But there are also good restaurants close by. Our stay was organized very well. If I get the chance I will come back.
We did not want to leave! The pictures cannot capture the feeling you have while there-Absolute peace and beauty-The sound of the ocean while all different birds come to visit. Also the afternoon iguana friends that come to munch on the grass are fun to watch. The house has all you need. The kitchen is perfect for meals & the brick oven barbecue makes great meals. We had our 4 kids ages 9 to 15 and they all enjoyed the pool and the waves on the beach. El Valle has lots to do and see and if you want a different beach playa Blanca was great. Pipas is where to park. For $20 you get parking umbrella chairs and showers. The restaurant there was very good and reasonable. If you want to do some fun things such as banana boating, snorkeling, fishing, parasailing they can get in touch with hotel that offers it and they come to get you. You can also bring a cooler. We did rent a car so we were able to get around easily but I think taxis are available for not too much money. Also it is not difficult to drive here just at bring a good map & you can get anywhere pretty easily. We felt safe & it a beautiful private spot. Would love to come back!
If you are looking for a house on the beach, you have found it! Very private location to enjoy the ocean. Great shell collecting, swimming and surfing on this quiet beach. The pool was clean and refreshing and a nice break from the sand when you are ready for a beach break. The 3 private rooms (all with bathrooms) worked perfectly for our family. All very quiet so you hear nothing but the ocean. The main living area and kitchen are excellent for family dinners, games and relaxing. The kitchen is well equipped with nice appliances. We did quite a bit of our own cooking and made use of the brick oven outdoors as well. Make sure that you get directions to the marina to buy fresh fish! The Super 99 (grocery store) in Coronado had everything that we needed. Also, if you are swapping the SIM card out in your phone, the Claro' store above the Super 99 was very helpful and cost $10 to have data and Panama phone service for 10 days. For those days that you don't want to cook, you can walk to a few restaurants on the beach in El Palmar or a short drive will take you to others, including Carlito's Pizza on the main road. Consider the short trip to El Valle about 30 minutes away. There is a great market there (make sure you by the local pineapple!) to stock up on local fruits and vegetables (everything to make pico de gallo for fresh fish tacos) and great souvenir shopping. There is also a zoo (with rescue animals) and a magnificent waterfall. On Sunday, El Valle has an artisans show, but will be much busier than midweek. Also, don't miss the canal tour at the Miraflores Locks. Pretty amazing!
We had a fabulous time and would rent this property again, the owners were very helpful and answered our emails promptly and even called us to give proper directions to area highlights. The house is as you see it in the pictures, but even better when you are there, looking at the ocean!
We and our 3 kids (9,6 and 1.5 years) loved our 10 days at your beach house very much. Thanks a lot for all you attention during our stay. For everybody that does not have a perfect lawn to walk on at home, here it is. A lot of privacy and a quite place. We definitely will consider to come back.
2 constructive suggestions:
- There should be on the VRBO page an indication that there is an extra charge for the AC, maybe only for us of importance since we live in the tropics all year round and do not use AC.
- Families with children have to consider that the rooms are separate and only communicate with the terrasse in front of the house. It was no problem for our boys they got more independent by this experience.
Thank you for having us on your beautiful property.

This is a BEACH HOUSE you'll not want to pass up. This house is so very open to the sea and the sounds of the pounding surf. A stairway from the yard leads you to treasures of sea shells, surfers and peaceful tide pools. When the beach gets too hot, a very clean swimming pool awaits you!! A very private setting, protected on all sides with fence and folage. The gardens are gorgeous. All the amenities of home can be found here. The grocery in Coronado will yeild any groceries/beverages a heart could wish for. There is a Taxi service for those without a car. The hammock calls your name in the lazy afternoon sun. There always seemed to be a breeze and there was not ONE BUG that bothered us. We did have a friendly CRAB that visited us on occasion. A great location for a quick visit to El Valle de Anton and the awesome Artisian Market there on Sundays. I will be returning next year!!! There are two surf schools nearby. Watching the surfers was a bonus!!!
We had a wonderful stay at the Playa El Palmar beach house and would highly recommended it to others seeking some serious down time. Facing the ocean, we fell asleep each night with the sound of the waves rolling in and out. The openness of the place and abundant wild life made you feel like you were living in an exotic beach hut.
Everything was to our expectations including the location (right on the beach) and actual appearance of the property as reflected in the website images. It was well maintained by a staff of two who came twice a week. The full functioning kitchen allowed us to cook many of our meals and save a great deal of money, despite the fact there were three restaurants within walking distance that served desayuno, almuerzo, and cena.
El Palmar is a surfing beach and if you like to surf or watch surfing this is the beach to visit on the weekends. During the week, we had the beach all to ourselves and enjoyed early morning and late night beach walks without a soul in sight.
Great stay and we hope to return in the future.
7 miles from our township (Playa el Palmar) is a real town- Coronado- which has shopping centers, amenities for horse-riding, tennis, golf, water sports etc.
