Guestbook comments from the owner

The host was great, we enjoyed the house and the responsiveness of the host. She was very welcoming and responded very quick. The neighborhood was great. We walked to shops, restaurants, and even a toy store! We traveled with a 4 year old and a 1.5 year old. They loved the yard, trampoline and the tree house (the older one..). We spent a lot of time on the trampoline... Thank you for such a great stay.

Great place for family with kids!

  • 5 of 5

Jamie's place was a great place to visit in Vancouver. The house is very close to UBC (5 minute drive), Pacific Spirit Park that we went for walks in, walking distance to Jericho beach and a 5 minute walk to great coffee shops, restaurants, shops, grocery stores. banks etc.

Transit is very easy so a car is not needed however there is lots of free parking outside the house.

The kids loved the trampoline, Xbox, Netflicks and tree house; we enjoyed cooking our meals in the well stocked kitchen and the outdoor gas bbq. Nice house in a very upscale neighborhood!

We will definitely be back again!

Thanks again,

R. Fong

Good location in West Point Grey - easy to get to town and beaches by both car and bus.

  • 4 of 5

This is a small heritage property that has been tastefully updated. The bathroom is lovely (and the giant tub a treat), and the patio table set up on the back deck is shady and relaxing - great to have your own garden space (with plenty of kids activities in it) with a BBQ area - we spent most of our time here :). Jamie is delightful to deal with and genuinely goes out of her way to make sure you have a great rental experience. The only negative is if you are sensitive to noise as the basement suite is also rented, but, apart from one session with crying children below, we didn't have a real problem with this. Also, be aware that the upstairs bedrooms both have low ceilings (one very low) so not suitable for elderlies. Kids would love it however! Kitchen was extremely well equipped.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying Karen! Please come back again. The two children in the suite below were a one off and certainly not usual. Take care.

First Canadian Christmas in Cozy Point Grey

  • 5 of 5

We booked Jamie's place for our first Canadian Christmas with our three year old daughter and Cocker spaniel, having only been in the country a few months. From the moment we booked, nothing was too much trouble for Jamie. She decorated a tree for us and made the place feel so festive. There were even Santa Claus themed tea towels in the kitchen! She was very flexible about both our Check-in and Check-out times which was really appreciated too.

The house is perfect for a young family or a couple looking for a comfortable place to stay. Our daughter adored her room on the top level and has asked for one just like it of her own. The trampoline and tree house in the back yard were also a huge hit. And for my husband and me, being able to relax in a warm welcoming home really made our Christmas special.

The house is very well located. We particularly enjoyed walking our dog off-leash in the beautiful and huge Pacific Spirit Park which is just a couple of blocks away. Point Grey Village on 10th was a few blocks in the other direction with its many shops and restaurants (we particularly recommend Mix bakery and The Butcher). Jericho Beach is also a short walk away and we loved the walk down to it - an incredible snow-capped mountain panorama. Just beautiful.

All in all, we loved our stay at Jamie's place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Dissapointed by the communication, privacy and misrepresentation.

  • 1 of 5

Having promised a trip to Vancouver for the Women's World Cup 4 years ago to my daughter (who plays soccer) I was really looking forward to a special trip for my family. My wife and I have a family with three children and this property looked perfect. I chose it for the comfort, privacy, and convenience it would afford us for this event. I had a number of phone conversations with Jamie as she qualified us for the property and we worked out the details. I believed everything was set but TWO DAYS before we were to set to leave I received a message form Jamie that everything was set and "There will be guests in the lower level of the so we ask that there are no shoes in the suite." Prior to renting the home I was under the understanding that we were renting a private residence. I expressed my deep concern about privacy, concern for who would be staying in the basement apartment below with shared access to the back yard (this was advertised as a great place for children), safety in a foreign country, and unease about having to modify my actions to accommodate other people that I didn't even know were going to be staying below us. Jamie's response was "I hope you have a wonderful vacation. I'm in Europe and just request there are no shoes in the house. You won't be sharing the backyard." Actually, on multiple occasions the people staying below did come into the back yard, talked loudly at night, and on one occasion, 4 middle aged ladies were having a college reunion on our back deck outside our kitchen(including music and wine) on our return from an afternoon out. I was extremely disappointed by the misrepresentation of the property, dismissive response to my concerns, and size of the room upstairs. The neighborhood is nice and property adequate, however, I would not recommend this property and would not have rented it if I had the information I do now. I would have looked for a hotel closer to the event and/or another private residence in this area.

Owner's Response: Oh dear. Well I suppose there is always one bad apple in the bunch! I have had nothing but great reviews except this one. I received a verbally abusive email from this gentlemen and then he tried to avoid his second payment which was disappointing. I feel they wanted to avoid the cancellation fee as they had decided to stay adjacent to their event. At no time did I lead him to believe they were renting the whole residence, my ad clearly states main floor and upstairs. I also let him know my daughter's ceiling height is low which works well for a cozy little girls room. I asked him if it would be ok for his son and he thought it was just fine. I would never have rented to this character had I known his demeanour as I take my rental business very seriously and would never chance a disgruntled guest! I want everyone to be happy with their stay. Please see my other reviews and note this is a one off. I turned down many reservation requests for these dates which is too bad. I wish them well however they are not welcome back and I have never said that before! I'm all about second chances and communication usually
