Our family loves the scenery that NC and especially this Lake House provides! We love the topography, mountain views, and fresh water lake. We love the fact that this house and location provide such diverse activities for all seasons.
The Owner purchased this house in 2011
The location puts you right in the middle of so many activities, and the lake is relaxing and fun. The double decker dock and clear fresh water beg you to stay and float, kayak and boat.
Private, wooded yard, porch and dock lets you enjoy seclusion, while the lake is bustling with activity during peak summer. The double decker dock provides family fun- jumping in the lake, lounging, picnicing, and watersports. Dine out on the upper level, complete with picnic table. When you want to venture out, you can do it all in a day trip, and come back to the lake house to relax!
We had a wonderful time at the lake. The water was delightful. Your kitchen was well furnished and we had all that we needed. Thanks for renting out your house - it was good for us.
We had another great stay at the Lake house. So peaceful and relaxing, just want you really need on vacation. The expanded deck is wonderful, our family spent most of our downtime time side on the deck. The grill is a great addition from last year as well. I look forward to returning again very soon.
This house was perfect for our four-person family! The front porch is the best part of all - we had morning coffee, afternoon reading time, happy hour and dinner there. From the porch, you are high over the lake and feel like you are in the trees. We were surprised how cool it was there, didn't even need the ceiling fans.
The dock is great for reading (umbrellas & chairs) or sunbathing and we enjoyed using the kayaks. The water is wonderfully cold and clear. I would caution that the gravel path from the house down to the lake is quite steep. Not a problem for us, but if I'd had my parents or anyone with mobility issues, I'm not sure they could have gone down.
We took a drive over to see the State Park (nice walk/hike trails) and went to Linville Caverns for a fun tour.
I would definitely recommend Lake James and this particular house, especially to families from Charlotte. It's an easy drive in less than two hours.
We all enjoyed your lake house, we were there for my nephew's wedding which was being held at a near by marina/restaurant on the lake. Sitting on the porch and looking down at the lake was very relaxing, we spent most of our time while at the house on the patio. We also enjoyed swimming and kayaking along the lake. We rented a pontoon boat for the day and explored the beautiful lake which is a must do since we are avid boaters ourselves. The house had everything we needed and the kitchen was well equipped with dishes to handle our group but it would have been nice to have a larger grill on the back deck, unfortunately there was not enough room on it to cook for our group. Although you probably can't do anything about it the 3rd bedroom is very small and had no room to move around once the bottom trundle bed was rolled out plus there was no closet to hang your clothes. It would be ok for kids staying in that room but not 2 adults. All in all it was a very pleasant stay.
The lake, the house, the owners, the dock, and the scenery were the best anyone could hope for. We had everything we needed and didn't even leave the house except to go to the grocery store the first day. The water was super clean and clear, my wife spent 6-7 a day on her float just lying around. My son and I went swimming and did some fishing. Most relaxing vacation I've had in years. Enjoyed every minute of it and we will go back as often as possible. wonderful and stress free experience. Donna was great and easy to deal with. i have nothing negative to say!
My family enjoyed the lake house in June. It's a wonderful property, providing wonderful lake front access and centralized access to most of the more popular high country touresy venues. Everything you would need is available, (however a larger grill for those of us who enjoy cooking would be a nice upgrade).
I had one small issue during our stay, but a simple text to Donna was all that was required to handle it. She is very attentive and a great host.
I look forward to returning very soon!
Visited Donna's house end of July/early August 2014. Nice relaxing home that is well-equipped. My 12 and 14 year old sons loved jumping off top of dock and swimming in lake. They took the kayaks out frequently despite a few days of rainy cooler weather. It's a beautiful lake best explored by boat if you have access to one. Thanks for opening your home to my family.
Swim in this beautiful, clear, fresh water lake, two kayaks available, along with floats and water toys-you won't want to get out of the lake in the summer. Only 45 minutes to Asheville and the famous Biltmore Estate, vibrant downtown with dining and nightlife. 20 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway, offering higher elevation with gorgeous views and lookouts. An hour to snow skiing destinations.
