Scenic Place is an ideal setting if you want to stay in a beautiful & historic Austin neighborhood and still have easy access to downtown, the University of Texas, or Seton medical facilities. Tarrytown is a one-of-a-kind location that is rich in history, charm and scenery. It's situated minutes from the heart of downtown and is filled with large trees, lake views, peaceful parks, and historic properties.
The condo is located directly across from the popular Scenic Drive. You can walk along Scenic Drive (.5mi.) to experience some of the most beautiful views of Lake Austin. Mt. Bonnell (1.3 mi) is also a popular destination for a vista view of the city, the lake, and the surrounding hill country. Neighborhood shopping such as a grocery store, pharmacy, and coffee house is ½ mile away without having to get on Mopac!. You can also enjoy dining or a drink on the lake at nearby Beer Plant, Hula Hut, Abels on the Lake, or Mozarts Coffeehouse.
The condo is a convenient location for outdoor enthusiasts, event-goers, music lovers, cyclists, runners, hikers, and anyone visiting town for a University of Texas related event or visit. I moved to Austin in 1997 from Maryland, fell in love with the active outdoor lifestyle and chose to stay. I purchased this home in 2002 and have renovated the entire interior over time. After getting married in 2013, my husband and I bought a home together nine miles north and now maintain this condo as a vacation rental. We are not absent owners or property managers. We live and work in Austin full-time and are close by if our guests need anything during their stay. I enjoy and love all that Austin has to offer and this condo & location makes it easy to do everything and still enjoy the peace and quiet of the hill country.
Nancy E. Roberts (Betsy) purchased this condo in 2002
I chose this property because I wanted to live in a historic upscale neighborhood with easy access to downtown and Lake Austin. Tarrytown is scenic and classy with an ecclectic & wide-ranging mix of homes. I enjoy walking along Scenic Drive, biking downtown, coffee at Mozarts, drinks at Hula Hut, climbing Mt. Bonnell steps; walking to Reed Park; swimming at Deep Eddy, watching the peacocks at Mayfield Nature Preserve, and more.
My property is unique because it's a great and affordable way to stay in Tarrytown! It's so close to downtown activity, in the hills, accessible to bike routes, and close to the lake -- but still affordable for a single person, couple, or small family.
This home is perfect for your time in Austin. My wife and I were there 6 weeks and it met all our needs for an extended stay. Tucked into an upscale neighborhood, it was quiet and peaceful, and charming. It is an older condo complex, but extremely well maintained. It's location is fantastic as you can be downtown in just a few minutes without getting on any of Austin's gridlocked freeways. We had no problem coming or going to events or shopping, even at rush hour. In addition, the neighborhood has everything you will need close by. It is also a great place for walking because the neighborhood is beautiful. The unit was immaculate and comfortable with good beds and nice furniture. The owner is excellent to work with and was available all the time, but everything worked very well and we had no problems at all. There are well stocked kitchen, linens, and baths. You need only bring yourself to have enjoy your stay. There is a nice carport which was great during our Oct-Nov stay because it was in the 90's most of the time and it kept our car cool. This is a great place to retreat and rest, yet convenient to everything. We looked at a place about 30 miles outside of Austin in the hill country before choosing this one. The country place looked good, but getting to things in Austin would have been a hassle with the traffic. We would definitely stay here again if we go back to Austin, and highly recommend it!
For the past few summers, we have stayed in various houses in the Austin area while visiting family. This condo is by far is the best!! The location was perfect-easy to get downtown or to Mopac etc. The condo is the perfect size and configuration. It had absolutely everything we needed and then some!
We were welcomed with a lovely basket of wine, beer, sweets and Austin essentials! I can not recommend this condo enough. It is was so comfortable we did not want to leave!!
We had a wonderful stay in Tarrytown. The house was well apointed, in a wonderful neighborhood. The Starbucks, and Randall's grocery made for a nice evening or morning walk. Overall the host was welcoming and readily available to answer questions. All of the best part's of Austin felt like nearby drives. Would definitely stay there again. Thanks for sharing your awesome house!
We had a wonderful stay here in April/May 2014.
The location is convenient for access to downtown Austin as well as the N. Lamar Central Market & other shops/restaurants nearby. We enjoyed walks thru the beautiful neighborhood & along Scenic Drive with views of the lake. The condo is well furnished & so comfortable. The owner was great to work with as we extended our stay & very responsive during an unexpected brief utility outage in the area. What a pleasure to have the patio to enjoy the spring weather. We will be back!
This is the second time we have stayed in the Tarrytown Condo. It was clean, comfortable, and welcoming this time as it was before. Great place for grandparents visiting family.
I can't say enough good things about this property and it's owner! We stayed here for three months and absolutely loved it. The furnishings are unbelievable - literally every comfort of home from beach towels to a blender is included. The location is phenomenal for access to central, north OR south Austin. The owners are helpful and responsive and went out of their way to accommodate our needs (including leaving child proofing gear for us since we have a one year old). You really can't ask for a better rental!
