Great Beach Front Property and Location

  • 5 of 5

Had a family get together coming in from all directions to this wonderful rental unit. It is actually two close sitting cottages that were completely remodeled and combined into one very large unit with a large dining area as the "connection" between the units. The entire unit is beautifully decorated. It can sleep 10 in beds and more with use of the large couches. There is a huge great room area with expansive windows overlooking the dune and beach. beyond. Due to a bit of cooler weather,(September) we brought the huge exterior table in from the deck and were able to easily accommodate a large wedding dinner of 16 people with ease.

This unit is unbelievably well equipped. As another reviewer mentioned it would actually help if they listed the countless amenity items they offer - coolers (4) beach chairs (numerous), high chairs, rubber rafts, play toys and on and on. You can virtually pack your bags and assume everything else is there. Kitchen is also completely equipped and very modern. Full washer and dryer. The unit has an outdoor shower - an additional bonus coming off the beach.

You will need to bring your own sheets and pillow cases and towels or order them from one of the local vendors. We used Auntie Vi's, which worked fine. Convenient and very cost effective.

In terms of location, this unit is on Cape Cod Bay near Sandwich, about a quarter of the way out on the Cape. There is a large convenience store a very short drive away and numerous quaint restaurants all within a 15 minute drive. Although we were there after Labor Day, when it was much quieter, I can see where this would be a very convenient location during the crazy summer months. The water is a bit cooler in the bay, (we were told) and did not realize beforehand.

There is a nice fire pit built from rocks on the beach although you will need to purchase your own wood from roadside stands or the convenience store. There is a large Save A Lot Grocery store within 15 minutes for all your shopping needs. There are countless things to do on the Cape from the quaint village of Sandwich to the classic New England fishing port of Hyannis to busy Chattem and all the way out to Provincetown (an hour drive from unit ). The National Seashore on the coast from mid-Cape on out is truly a national treasure.

I would strongly recommend this unit for a large family gathering. It is large enough that everyone can spread out easily yet has the large common great room for evening gatherings.

Beautiful Home Where the Beach is Your Backyard!

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed this special home on the water. We went at the end of summer with a crew of 12 (8 under 13 years) and it was a perfect way to recharge before the coming school year. The house accommodated the big ones and the little ones very well - they loved the upper bunk room. Some beds were queens so littlest ones happily doubled-up. I enjoyed staring out at the water day and night from the 3 decks and expansive great room. The kitchen was well-equipped (had Keurig, reg coffee machine, lobster pot and accessories, and electric kettle). There was a highchair in the basement. Driveway was tight but we fit 4 cars. For the rainy days there were board games/cards, plenty of places to sit and read (three couches in the great room) and for the truly desperate, WIFI and cable! The very private beach has a lovely, soft sand area just as you emerge from the path through the dunes. My children spent hours digging big holes and combing the beach for sea shells determined to get a collection as nice as those displayed throughout the house. Children from neighboring homes all got together and created a very elaborate excavation site (we nearly needed a building permit!). Water shoes were key to fully enjoying this beach as there are rocks as you get closer to the water, but honestly my children didn't mind, they just dug a path to the water. We rented a paddle board for a few days which was really fun (free delivery to the house). We fished for sea bass from the Sandwich Marina (Laura Jay Fishing), and grilled our catch on the back porch. A real highlight of this beach is that, as it is private, you can build a bonfire on the beach each night and roast lots and lots of s'mores (flashlights/blankets at house) while you watch the stars and night fishing on the bay (firewood available for $5 a bundle nearby). Other highlights of our trip were National Heritage Museum and Ropes/Zipline Course in Sandwich (book ahead), Sandwich Glass Museum (glass blowing demo), "Capt'n Kids fishing" for younger set (Harwich Port), Canal Visitors Center (learn about the building of the Canal). We biked to the conv. store and cute bookstore close by on 6A. On one rainy day, we took a day trip to Brewster Natural History Museum (best for 9 and under) and walked the flats. We loved eating at the marina and all the great little ice cream shops. There are some cool historic houses scattered throughout Sandwich - one of the oldest in the country! Thank you, again!

Beautiful stay on East Sandwich

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a fabulous stay. The house is beautiful and spacious and overlooks the beach with private access. Lots of beautiful windows with breathtaking views of the water. All of the bedrooms are comfortable and with three and a half baths, plus the outdoor shower, it was very convenient. The living room, dining room, kitchen and outdoor eating area were all large and open and had space for everyone. We also appreciated the extra fridge and washer and drier in the basement. The best part was the beach, which is quiet and relaxing. There are wonderful sandbars that appear at low tide that are great fun for kids and adults alike. We had a wonderful time and hope to go back again!

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house - clean, well-appointed, and very nicely decorated. Beach is right out through the sliding glass doors that overlook the ocean. Great location because it's a short drive to everywhere, but away from the insanity of Rte. 28. Steve was very responsive to our needs. We will definitely be back.
