Enjoy a 5-star vacation home and your favorite freshwater activities - swimming, kayaking, fishing off the dock, or just sitting by the water. Our dock can handle large boats, and if you don't have one to bring, a rental boat can be delivered to Little Sebago so you can enjoy lake cruising, water skiing and boarding, tubing, and fishing.

In terms of location, the property is less than 20 minutes from a commercial area with numerous restaurants, the beautiful Spring Meadows Golf Course, Seacoast Adventure (mini-golf, aerial, games, rides, and restaurant with music on weekends), a good lobster pound, and a relaxing spa. And it's less than 40 minutes to Freeport and Portland for great dining, shopping, and cultural experiences.

The fall is a great time of year to be at the lake with apple picking, hayrides, nature walks, and a great foliage season. Rattlesnake Mountain is 30 minutes away and has beautiful hiking (and no rattlesnakes). During the winter months, snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross-country-skiing, snowshoeing, and ice-skating (if the conditions are right) are all available out the front door, and we are within reasonable driving distance of some great downhill skiing.

The home (we call it “The Lakehouse”) sits close to the water and features a large dock, float, two kayaks for your use, and a private sand and pebble beach with a very gradual descent into Little Sebago’s great water. The lower level walks out to a large flat grassy area, ideal for sunbathing and lake-watching. The home was completely rebuilt in 2009, and it’s been a great place our family and many others since then.

The property has beautiful landscaping and mature trees. The waterside of the property has an outside stairway with a stainless handrail that winds down from the main level to the waterfront. At the water there is an ideal spot to spend time, lounging or lake-watching. Nearby is an extra-large dock, a storage cubby holding life jackets and paddles, and two sit-on-top kayaks (one double and one single), and nice small-pebble beach with a very gradual descent into the great water of Little Sebago Lake. A float completes the waterfront, and the swimming is excellent in both directions.

The main level of the Lakehouse features a large great room with big windows on three sides that enable nice summer breezes and provide an unparalleled view of the lake. (And there is a retractable awning to provide shade when needed, and a propane fireplace for chilly nights.) Also on the main level is a modern kitchen designed for multiple users, a full bath, and a bedroom with a Queen bed and a beautiful view of the lake. The lower level includes two additional bedrooms with Queen beds and nice views of the lake, and a fourth bedroom with a Queen sleeper sofa, two partially elevated Twins, a good-sized wall-mounted TV, and a view of the sandy beach. All four bedrooms have built-in cabinetry for storage, and there are wood floors throughout. Also on the lower level is a compartmentalized bathroom - one room has a sink and long countertop plus a stacked full-size laundry set, a second room has a toilet, and a third room has a tub/shower and another sink with long countertop.

The view of the lake from the home is to the west, so there are fabulous sunsets. The home sits on a peninsula on the southeast edge of Little Sebago Lake’s large central basin and close to Spider Island. The top part of the driveway is paved and is fine for parking for up to 4 vehicles. From there, the driveway slopes down toward the Lakehouse, where there is parking for up to 4 more vehicles nearer the home. Parking is not allowed alongside Qualey Road. The driveway, which slopes down from the road toward the home, is paved, and there is abundant parking. You can walk from the parking area to the home entrance (and further down to the waterfront) by either stairs or a paved ramp. The driveway is shared year-round with a neighboring (but much smaller) home that our extended family also owns but doesn’t rent. During winter rentals, the driveway may also be shared with a larger third home (just beyond the smaller home) that we also own. (It sleeps 14 and is available as HomeAway #3859415.) Although it may sound a bit crowded, there is both space and vegetation between the homes, and the overall layout provides each home with a nice sense of privacy.

Pillows, mattress pads, blankets, and comforters for all beds are provided. 2018 renters will still need to bring their own sheets and pillowcases or rent them separately for an additional cost of $18 per Twin and $24 per Queen. Also, 2018 renters will still need to bring their own beach, bath, hand, and kitchen towels, but there is a good washer/dryer set, so there's no need to bring lots of extras. Starting with 2019, there will be a required "Linens Fee" and the following will be provided as part of the property rental: - Sheets and pillowcases for all beds - One kitchen towel and dishcloth for each night of the rental - One hand towel per sink - One bath mat per tub/shower - 10 towel sets (each with beach, bath, hand, and washcloth). beautiful home on a frosted lake

Stayed at this lovely home from December 14-17 as we attended a family wedding. The setting is private and lovely with a frozen lake seen from every window! It was a bit of a winter wonderland and was a great fit for our group and occasion. With bedrooms on two floors it accommodates two families or more very comfortably! The house is great but even better is almost the feeling of being outside even when you are inside! We would love to try again in the warmth of the sun but seriously it is so cozy in the snow as well!

Fantastic house and location

We spent a weekend at The Lake House with a few family members. The house and location are outstanding. John, the owner and Maria the property manager were very helpful in getting us situated in the house. The house appears to have gone through a recent renovation and everything is clean, comfortable and fitting for a lake house. We will certainly return.

The lake house was just perfect for our weekend stdy! We were on Maine for my nephews wedding which

The house was absolutely amazing and the setting couldn't be more beautiful! views were spectacular and the sunsets lovely. We very comfortably house at eight people and it was great to have the kitchen as we did a lot of cooking and baking so that we could just sit and enjoy the lake houseonce the wedding was over. John was excellent with communication as well as being extremely helpful during the booking process. We would love to come back and stay for a week during the summer! Thank you John for helping to make our nephews wedding weekend when we will never forget!

Lovely Lake House with Many Modern Amenities

Our family of nine adults all fit very comfortably in this wonderful lake house. The whole place has been recently updated, and everything works flawlessly. The lake water was clean and clean, and the loon calls in the morning will make your heart flutter. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a Maine lake getaway!

Wonderful family vacation spot.

About John Newlin

This property is now jointly owned by four branches of our family. "Middle son" John is now doing most of the rental management. One branch of the family rented this property for several years before we purchased and renovated it, inside and out, in 2008-2009. "Middle sister" Jan was in charge of the project, and her love of Maine and simple, clean design is woven throughout. She lost her battle with cancer just before it was completed, so this place carries special meaning to all of us. We treasure it and we hope you will grow to love it as well!

Big Beaches:

There is a wonderful small-pebble beach at the property, but it’s not a huge beach. There are great public beaches on Big Sebago Lake at Sebago Lake State Park, 31 minutes away, and in Naples, 36 minutes away. As for ocean beaches, Old Orchard is 45 minutes away, and several other beaches are even closer.

Gray and North Windham:

The home is located between Gray (to the north) and North Windham (to the south) - both are about 15 minutes away, and Exit 63 of the Maine Turnpike is even closer. While Gray is a small town, it does have a good pizza place (Goody’s Pizzeria), Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Hannafords (supermarket), gas, hardware store, dairy bar, etc. The beautiful Spring Meadows golf course is in New Gloucester, the next town north. Golf Digest cit edit as a "venue worth the drive.” In autumn, the course is ablaze with fiery foliage. North Windham has a much larger commercial area and has a Hannafords, Shaws (supermarket), DQ, Seacoast Adventure (mini-golf, aerial, games and rides), movie theater, Walmart, Heaven and Earth Spa, etc. There are also several pubs and restaurants in North Windham, including one at Seacoast Adventure (that has music on weekends), Buck's BBQ, Gilbert's Chowder House, Bob’s Seafood (lobster pound), Applebees, and Rustler's Steak House. Chute's Family Restaurant in North Windham is our family's favorite breakfast place. For an affordable homestyle meal, Cole Farms, which is across the street from Spring Meadows Golf Course, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Favorite menu items include Maine crab rolls, fried shrimp and an extensive list of homemade desserts and ice creams. With a playground for the kids, Cole Farms is a great spot for family dining. For people interested in sports on TV in another setting, there are several pubs in North Windham about 15 minutes away that have TVs that can be viewed from bar stools - Buck's BBQ, Gilbert's Chowder House, Applebee’s, and Rustler's Steak House. In addition, Rustler's has a big TV in a separate room for watching sports - here is their url: http://www.rustlerssteakhouse.com/

A Bit Further:

The home is about 35 minutes away from Portland, the largest city in Maine, which has become known for fabulous food, including many top-flight restaurants. Flatbread's is more modest, but it’s a favorite dinner spot for some of our family members - great pizza, right on the ocean. There are several breweries in Portland as well, including Geary’s, Shipyard, and Seadog. We are only 35 minutes away from the popular shopping outlets in Freeport, including L.L. Bean and the Maine Beer Company brewery and tasting room. The Oxford Casino is 34 minutes away. Skiing at Shawnee Peak is about 50 minutes away, Sunday River is about 1 hour and 25 minutes away, and Sugarloaf is about 2 hours and 20 minutes away.

• We rent only to persons age 30 or older. To make a reservation, the person agreeing to the Rental Agreement (you) will need to send us a legible copy of your driver's license or other government-issued photo ID unless we already know you’re over 30.
• When we receive notice from you (via email, phone, or text) that you want to reserve specific dates, we will tentatively reserve those dates for you (assuming we’ve already indicated those dates are available for you to reserve),
• If you choose to use HomeAway’s online payment system, to finalize your reservation you will pay the full amount (entire rental, fees, taxes, and refundable damage deposit) as per instructions on the website. Making an online payment means you agree to the provisions of the Rental Agreement, so you don't need to send us a “paper” Rental Agreement, but we encourage you to print one for your records.
• If you choose to pay the old-fashioned way, to finalize your reservation you will: a) send us a completed and signed Rental Agreement (just pages 1 and 2 is fine) and your ID copy as attachments to an email or text message, by the end of the next business day; and b) send us your deposit check (personal or bank) for 50% of the Total Due such that we will receive it via USPS-mail within 4 business days, although you may send the Rental Agreement and ID in the same envelope as the check if you prefer. If we don't receive receive all 3 items within 4 business days, your tentative reservation will be subject to cancellation. Once we receive all 3 items we will sign the Rental Agreement, acknowledge receipt of your payment on the Agreement, and return a copy to you. The remaining 50% will be due upon your arrival.
• If, for any reason, you cancel a finalized reservation, we will attempt to re-rent the timeslot, and any amount of time re-rented will be refunded to you, pro-rata, less a service charge of 10% of the Total Due. We encourage all renters to purchase travelers’ insurance.
