Superb Lake Waterfront, Beautiful Sunsets, and Spacious Great Room.

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10, Located on one of the great Maine Lakes!

Enjoy a 5-star vacation home and your favorite freshwater activities - swimming, kayaking, fishing off the dock, or just sitting by the water. Our dock can handle large boats, and if you don't have one to bring, a rental boat can be delivered to Little Sebago so you can enjoy lake cruising, water skiing and boarding, tubing, and fishing.

Beyond the property itself, it's only 25 miles to Freeport and Portland for great dining, shopping, and cultural experiences. The fall is a great time of year to be at the lake with apple picking, hayrides, nature walks, and a great foliage season. Rattlesnake Mountain is 30 minutes away and has beautiful hiking (and no rattlesnakes). During the winter months, snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross-country-skiing, snowshoeing, and ice-skating (if the conditions are right) are all available out the front door, and we are within reasonable driving distance of some great downhill skiing.

The house (we call it “The Lakehouse”) sits close to the water and features a large dock, float, two kayaks for your use, and a private sand and pebble beach with a very gradual descent into Little Sebago’s great water. The lower level walks out to a large flat grassy area, ideal for sunbathing and lake-watching. The home was completely rebuilt in 2009 and is surrounded by lovely landscaping and mature trees. The main level features a large great room with big windows on three sides that enable nice summer breezes and provide an unparalleled view of the lake. (And there is a retractable awning to provide shade when needed.) Also on the main level is a modern kitchen designed for multiple users, a full bath, and a bedroom with a Queen bed and a beautiful view of the lake. The lower level includes two additional bedrooms with Queen beds and nice views of the lake, and a third bedroom with a view of the sandy beach. All four bedrooms have white built-in cabinetry for storage, and there are wood floors throughout. Also on the lower level is a compartmentalized bathroom with one room with a countertop lav and a stacked full-size laundry set, a second room with a toilet, and a third room with a tub/shower and another countertop lav.

The waterside of the home faces west, and it sits on a peninsula on the southeast edge of Little Sebago Lake’s large central basin and across from Spider Island. The driveway, which slopes down from the road toward the home, is paved, and there is plenty of parking. You can walk from the parking area to the home entrance (and further down to the waterfront) by either stairs or a paved ramp. The driveway is shared with a neighboring cottage that we also own (but don’t rent), and the buildings are nicely spaced for privacy.

About John Newlin

This property is now jointly owned by four branches of our family; "middle son" John is now doing most of the rental management. Family members rented this property for several years before we purchased and renovated it, inside and out, in 2008-2009. "Middle sister" Jan was in charge of the project, and her love of Maine and simple, clean design is woven throughout. She lost her battle with cancer just before it was completed, so this place carries special meaning to all of us. We treasure it and we hope you will grow to love it as well!

Fantastic. Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

It was a short leap from the Bangor area, but we felt worlds away from the routine of life. Thank you for sharing this gem with us and our family who travelled from Hawaii and Michigan. It was a Maine they had not yet experienced. This was perfect in every way. Thank your for being so easy to work with. We most definitely want to come back again.

Thank you,

Spectacular setting!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had an amazing time at the Lakehouse! The house itself was spotless, inside and out with very well appointed furnishings. All of the bedrooms had very comfortable queen size beds. It was airy, comfortable and so relaxing. It was also the perfect setting for our daughter and son-in-law to announce that they are expecting our first grandchild in January!! There was much to do in the Gray/Windham area. We rented a pontoon boat for the day, went to the great casino in Oxford, shopped in Freeport and downtown Portland and of course, the outlet shops in Kittery. We would recommend this location for anyone looking for relaxation and a totally peaceful setting. Also, the owners were so accommodating and gracious and full of information about the surrounding area. Definitely a property that we would return to.

Absolutely Amazing. Pictures Don't Do It Justice!

  • 5 of 5

We rented both properties at the location for a family reunion / anniversary celebration. The property was even more beautiful and amazing that we expected. The owners were friendly and showed us everything we needed to know to get us started.

Once people started arriving for the reunion, all we heard were compliments on how beautiful the houses were. They all also loved the scenery. The water was quite warm, which allowed us to swim and use the two kayaks that were left for us at each house. Several guests had never been to Maine before and all they talked about was wanting to rent the place themselves for a weekend getaway next summer.

Nights were very quiet and peaceful, except for the occasional Loon that we would hear in the distance as the sun was setting. Of course, that's a good thing and not a bad thing. :-)

If you want a peaceful getaway that's right on the water, close to the highway and stores yet secluded enough to give you your privacy, and a place that is owned by people who pay close attention to every little detail, then I HIGHLY recommend renting this property. Better yet, do what we did and rent both! You won't be disappointed.

We will absolutely be back next summer!

The Perfect Maine Lake House!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful week on Little Sebago Lake. The house was beautiful and very well appointed. It was the ideal location for us - very convenient to Freeport, Portland, and the ocean. The house was perfect for our group - 2 families of 4. Our days were filled with swims in the lake, kayak expeditions, and playing on the beach - a perfect week away. We hope to visit this property again!

• We will rent only to persons age 30 or older. The person agreeing to the Rental Agreement must provide a legible copy of their driver's license or other government-issued photo ID.
• We will tentatively reserve your time slot as soon as we receive notice from you that you will be sending us this Agreement (signed by one or two members of your group) and a payment.
• If you choose to use HomeAway’s online payment system, please pay the full amount (entire rental, fees, taxes, and refundable damage deposit) as per instructions on the website. Then please send us the signed Agreement via email scan or regular mail.
• If you choose to pay the old-fashioned way, please mail us your signed Agreement, ID copy, and a deposit check (personal or bank) for 50% of the total amount, by the end of the next business day via USPS Priority Rate, which is usually about $6 (or via a faster method if you prefer), and provide us with a tracking number for that mailing. If we don't receive a tracking number for this mailing from you by the end of the next business day (by phone, text message, or email), your tentative reservation will be subject to cancellation. (By the same token, if you use the check method of payment, we will send your damage deposit check back to you via USPS Priority Rate, and we'll send you a tracking number for that mailing.) The remaining 50% will be due upon your arrival on the Check-in Date.
• Once we receive your payment, signed Agreement, and ID, we will sign the Agreement, acknowledge receipt of your payment on the Agreement, and return a scanned copy to you.
• If you cancel a booked reservation, for any reason, we will attempt to re-rent the timeslot, and any amount of time re-rented will be refunded to you, pro-rata, less a service charge of 20% of the 50% deposit. We encourage all renters to purchase traveler’s insurance.
