Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10, Located on one of the great Maine Lakes!

Enjoy a 5-star vacation home and your favorite freshwater activities - swimming, kayaking, fishing off the dock, or just sitting by the water. Our dock can handle large boats, and if you don't have one to bring, a rental boat can be delivered to Little Sebago so you can enjoy lake cruising, water skiing and boarding, tubing, and fishing.

Beyond the property itself, it's only 25 miles to Freeport and Portland for great dining, shopping, and cultural experiences. The fall is a great time of year to be at the lake with apple picking, hayrides, nature walks, and a great foliage season. Rattlesnake Mountain is 30 minutes away and has beautiful hiking (and no rattlesnakes). During the winter months, snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross-country-skiing, snowshoeing, and ice-skating (if the conditions are right) are all available out the front door, and we are within reasonable driving distance of some great downhill skiing.

The house (we call it “The Lakehouse”) sits close to the water and features a large dock, float, two kayaks for your use, and a private sand and pebble beach with a very gradual descent into Little Sebago’s great water. The lower level walks out to a large flat grassy area, ideal for sunbathing and lake-watching. The home was completely rebuilt in 2009 and is surrounded by lovely landscaping and mature trees. The main level features a large great room with big windows on three sides that enable nice summer breezes and provide an unparalleled view of the lake. (And there is a retractable awning to provide shade when needed.) Also on the main level is a modern kitchen designed for multiple users, a full bath, and a bedroom with a Queen bed and a beautiful view of the lake. The lower level includes two additional bedrooms with Queen beds and nice views of the lake, and a fourth bedroom with a view of the sandy beach. All four bedrooms have white built-in cabinetry for storage, and there are wood floors throughout. Also on the lower level is a compartmentalized bathroom with one room with a countertop lav and a stacked full-size laundry set, a second room with a toilet, and a third room with a tub/shower and another countertop lav.

The waterside of the home faces west, and it sits on a peninsula on the southeast edge of Little Sebago Lake’s large central basin and across from Spider Island. The driveway, which slopes down from the road toward the home, is paved, and there is plenty of parking. You can walk from the parking area to the home entrance (and further down to the waterfront) by either stairs or a paved ramp. The driveway is shared with a neighboring cottage that we also own (but don’t rent), and the buildings are nicely spaced for privacy.

About John Newlin

This property is now jointly owned by four branches of our family; "middle son" John is now doing most of the rental management. Family members rented this property for several years before we purchased and renovated it, inside and out, in 2008-2009. "Middle sister" Jan was in charge of the project, and her love of Maine and simple, clean design is woven throughout. She lost her battle with cancer just before it was completed, so this place carries special meaning to all of us. We treasure it and we hope you will grow to love it as well!

thanks,

The Extended Newlin Clan

Wonderful family vacation spot.

  • 5 of 5

Just finished a fantastic family vacation week on 8/26/17 and wish the place were available again next year in August but, no joy. Couldn't recommend the place too highly.

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great weekend at this house. John was very accommodating and responsive. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! It's the best of both worlds, lakefront and also only 30 minutes from Portland. I would definitely recommend this rental.

Lovely Home on Little Sebago!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed here Mother's Day week. The home is beautiful, updated, beautiful floors and spacious! The kids loved Kayaking out to Spider Island. Would definitely recommend this beautiful home for anyone thinking of vacationing in the area. The owner was super nice and gets back to you right away and provides for your necessities for the house. Great stay, thank you!

Wonderful time at Little Sebago!

  • 5 of 5

Great family reunion with lots of games & puzzles & chilling by the lake. Very modern home away from home that was so comfortable. Only challenge for a few of the seniors was the steep drive access to the house but well worth it, the lake views were awesome .
