Overview

New York Chateau / Country House Rental Photos and Description

Chateau / Country House, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Radcliffe is a beautiful country home built by a gentleman farmer in 1848. Resting on a knoll, it offers spectacular views of the Hudson River and surrounding mountains. It is elegant, yet a comfortable family home.

The home offers a fabulous gourmet kitchen with commercial style appliances, just right for a family meal or a large gathering. The elegantly furnished formal living and dining rooms are perfect for enjoying the holidays and other celebrations. Upstairs on the second floor you will find four comfortable bedrooms and two baths, along with a fully equipped laundry room.

The den's french doors lead you to an 18x38 roman style, salt water pool. A stone wall with cascading water features, and underwater lighting add to it's beauty. Relax and enjoy the spectacular sunsets from the wrap around porch.

Located minutes from the quaint village of Rhinebeck, where you can browse it's boutiques, antique shops and dine at it's fine restaurants. The beautiful and historic Hudson Valley offers many wonderful activities and adventures for all seasons.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for accommodating us in your home for the wedding weekend.

Your beautiful home provided the perfect gathering point for all of the pre-wedding activities. My daughter was thrilled to have her family close by and share those precious moments that we will remember forever!

Your kind hospitality will never be forgotten!

Couldn't have done better

  • 5 of 5

I have to agree with the previous reviews - the place is spectacular - better than the pictures. Four friends get together every year and we have rented houses all over - and all agree, this is the best yet - probably never to be surpassed. The home is so well stocked - you think of it - it's there. All furnishings are beautiful but relaxing - nothing felt like you couldn't use it. Elizabeth is a wonderful host, greeting us to show us around her beautiful home and always available if the need arises. The pool is a huge bonus - after a day of sightseeing to come back and relax and watch the river and sunsets. The location is convenient to Hyde Park for the Culinary Institute - recommend taking the tour, and the Vanderbilt and Roosevelt Mansions - and to Rhinebeck with all it's great restaurants. I'm looking forward to getting back to the Hudson River Valley.

Even better than the pictures

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for a long girls weekend. We are a bunch of friends who went to college together over 50 years ago. Four of us stayed at the house and others came over for food and visits. As soon as we arrived at the house, we knew we had really lucked out. Our hostess, Elizabeth, was there to greet us and show us around. She could not have been more gracious. The house is nothing short of spectacular. Everything was spotless and everything worked. The house is incredibly spacious and when there were 20 of us there we still had plenty of extra everything including very comfortable seating. In fact, as beautiful as the living room is, we never used it. The views and sunsets were fantastic -- not to be missed. Elizabeth gets an A+++ in decorating. She has cornered the market on charm and comfort. There were fresh flowers in every room and next to every bed a note pad and pencil -- in other words, she thought of everything. Like the house, the grounds are beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Fantastic Property

  • 5 of 5

A group of us stayed here for a long weekend and every aspect exceeded our expectations. This property offers much more than you would ordinarily encounter with a rental unit. To start, the home is elegantly decorated creating a very warm ambiance with a wonderful view from a hilltop. The mattresses are all very comfortable and towels & linens provided are of much higher quality than the basics you'd expect to see. The kitchen features very high end appliances which allows for easy and enjoyable meal preparation. Also, the owner is extremely helpful, responsive and pleasant to deal with. We would highly recommend this property.

Holiday Break

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at this property over the holidays. We had a fantastic time and were sad when it was time to leave. The house is beautiful inside and out…a great blend of country rustic and old world elegance. The views are amazing. The house is fully stocked with everything you need and is very convenient to Rhinebeck and other Hudson Valley sights/activities. The owner, Elizabeth, is wonderful and very responsive. We will be back !!

Weekend Retreat Exceeded Our Expectations

  • 5 of 5

My family chose Hudson Valley as a new destination to explore for our Mom's milestone birthday. Radcliffe was a lucky find and by the description nd photos we were sold. We had an easy and pleasant experience booking with the owner. Our arrival greeting and house tour by owner Elizabeth was thoughtful and very helpful. We were given a thorough introduction to the homes beautiful and extensive amenities. The property is everything described in the listing and delivers even more. The photos are very accurate and cleanliness is obviously a high priority for the caretakers. The standards and amenities are top notch and of luxury hotel quality. Beautifully made beds with clean white linens, bathrooms with lots of plush towels and very well stocked for any basic needs one might have. Extremely comfortable seating throughout the house allows for many places to lounge. A fantastic laundry room is available if desired. The gourmet kitchen allowed us to prepare great meals with many people working and never getting in each other's way. A superb Viking range allowed us to cook an amazing brunch including pancakes on the griddle. A nice stock of basics for cooking and baking made staying for a long weekend easy to handle. Oils, vinegars, spices, condiments, etc were all on hand and organized and ready for use. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking gear and a very large selection of serving pieces including china and other unique pieces. The owner has a great eye for detail and a very organized style. Baskets and bins are everywhere with all the amenities. Special touches including fresh cut flowers in all rooms and bed-side brought the aroma of lilacs throughout the house. Throw blankets in every room would be perfect for a cool night. An extensive book library adorns the little study area with a computer for use. Magazines and coffee table books outfit each room. If one must stay connected WiFi is available with reception all over the property. The grounds are great and the views of the river and mountains are just gorgeous. The heated salt water pool with water falls is a relaxing treat. The wrap around porch is perfect to enjoy the view and relax while eating or rocking in a chair. The proximity to great sights is perfect, however it's easy to never leave the house. Our weekend of relaxing and entertaining included grilling by the pool, lounging in the great room and watching sunset from the porch. I highly recommend this property!
