About Katharine

We have been living in Manuel Antonio for the last 10+ years and live close by to the rental property. We can offer you the inside local information on where to shop, the best offers, activities, restaurants etc. We look forward to meeting you during your stay!

Katharine purchased this house in 2005

Why Katharine chose Quepos

We had both been living in Manuel Antonio for some time and loved the quiet area this house is located in. It's the first house we lived in as a couple and were very happy there, we hope you are too.

What makes this house unique

One of our favorite things about the house is the open plan concept with the feature window with an etched jungle scene. I feel like I am in the jungle, even when I am inside!

I love that there are 2 decks..great for monkey and birth watching or for sharing good food/ cocktails and enjoying the tropical sunshine or a balmy night.

Highly Recommend

This was our last stop, on a 10 night, 4 stop journey in beautiful Costa Rica. We saved the best for last.

Katharine met us when our shuttle dropped us off. The place looks exactly like the photos. The location was perfect for us, with bus stops at the end of the road heading to either Quepos or Manuel Antonio. We saw lots of monkeys and others animal life right outside her beautiful house.

The hot water and internet worked perfectly. She had a full kitchen which we took advantage of, and the shared pool was basically empty except for us.

We did ziplines, walked the national park seeing man sloths, raccoons, monkeys etc. The public beach is great.

So much to do, but never enough time.

We will be back. Thanks again, Katharine.

We loved that we saw more wild life from the balcony view than we did at the national park.

Very clean rental home. With all the necessary items you would find at home. Restaurants/bars that were of walking distance. Loved that we were able to see 2 species of monkeys, macaws, and the very curious tucan that was watching us through balcony sliding door.

Well kept house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

When we are in Costa Rica we don't spend a lot of time in the house but this place is well kept and everything we needed in a great location close to Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Katherine is great and there if you need her. We had the internet go out and she had the cable company out in a couple hours I wish we could get that quick of service at home. Most days we were not there when the monkeys came through but a couple days when we were home they came right around 4:00 a lot of them jumping on the roof and swinging through the trees just watch for falling mangoes when they come through.

Perfect jungle location!

  • 5 of 5

Amazing stay! Our active family stayed for 5 nights. Location was perfect for visiting local spots (Manuel Antonio Park, beach, marina, Quepos...). Katherine was a lovely host, making recommendations, booking zip line tours, and meeting all our needs. Best experience of the trip had to be sitting on the porch watching a sloth slowly climb up the walking tree. The pool was perfect to keep us cool. The monkeys provided daily entertainment. I would highly recommend this house and host!

Las Palmas Bungalow

  • 4 of 5

Stayed two weeks here at Katharine and John' bungalow. There were four of us (two adult couples) and we managed quite well in the space. The kitchen is a one person kitchen so we had to do the kitchen-shuffle. All our needs were met and of course as everyone mentions, Katharine was a big help with arranging tours and shuttles and anything else that came up.. The local bus is great for going to Manuel Antonio and to Quepos (only 300 colones each way). Lots of restaurants to explore. We mostly used the local bus and our feet to get around. The taxis are plentiful but got a little tired of haggling over price for fares. Back to the bungalow. It is a great deal for the area. We grilled out on the deck, enjoyed the swimming pool very much and enjoyed a couple of downpours while sitting on the deck. Lots of birds, monkeys now and then, and lots of barking geckos and iguanas. Also got to see an occasional Scarlet Macaw which was wonderful. The bungalow is very clean and well supplied to meet all our needs. Thank goodness for the fans and air conditioning! Also used the safe for our belongings while out and about.

The only cons (and not that big of a deal): with there were a few more pegs upstairs to hang towels and things. Wish there were a couple more comfortable chairs (the wood is hard but beautiful). And finally it would be nice to have fans in the bathrooms to air them out and the air conditioner in the downstairs bedroom makes a lot of noise.

Would I recommend this place or stay here again? Absolutely!
