Katharine purchased this house in 2005
We had both been living in Manuel Antonio for some time and loved the quiet area this house is located in. It's the first house we lived in as a couple and were very happy there, we hope you are too.
One of our favorite things about the house is the open plan concept with the feature window with an etched jungle scene. I feel like I am in the jungle, even when I am inside!
I love that there are 2 decks..great for monkey and birth watching or for sharing good food/ cocktails and enjoying the tropical sunshine or a balmy night.
Comfortable unit, great location, and very friendly and helpful hosts. Our second trip to Manuel Antonio/Quepos, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute! Sleeps 4 comfortably, AC unit in each room and another in the living room, small but full kitchen, but we really spent most of our time out on the deck. Convenient to both MA and Quepos, but feels like you're off in your own private rainforest retreat. Would definitely stay again
We really enjoyed our stay at this property near Manuel Antonio. It's located about halfway between the small town of Quepos and Manuel Antonio national park. The unit is not fancy, but comfortable and nicely decorated with lots of wood providing a warm feel. The upstairs bedroom is very large, but the downstairs is small with just room for a full-size bed. It was fine for my wife and I and our two daughters. It has two patios (a large one downstairs with a BBQ and a smaller one off the upstairs bedroom). Katherine was a very nice hostess. She lives nearby and is available to help with anything you need. The complex is lush and spread out. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The pool is very nice and there are fruit trees (mango, papaya, coconut, starfruit, plantain) throughout. The best thing was the abundant wildlife. We saw squirrel monkeys (and fed them by hand, although I suppose we weren't supposed to), white-faced monkeys, iguanas, and macaws. I was even woken up from an afternoon nap by banging on the window. When I looked to see what the commotion was, there was a pair of toucans on the balcony. We found a great hiking trail through the jungle nearby with giant bamboo and a waterfall. We went to El Avion (a restaurant built around an old airplane) twice. It has a great view and we dined with sloths just off the restaurant balcony on our second trip. We would definitely recommend this to family and friends.
My family recently stayed at this home. We couldn't be happier with our experience there. Katherine was really helpful even before we arrived. She answered several questions for me about traveling in the country and arranged transport for us. The house is well maintained and perfect for our family of four (children ages 7 and 9). The master bedroom is lovely with a relaxing deck off of the bedroom. The pool was thoroughly enjoyed by our children and the neighbors helped them pick high hanging fruit when needed. The home is a bit of a trek up a steep hill, but it wasn't a problem to manage at all. We didn't have a car for most of our stay there and it did not pose a problem. Our stay there left us daydreaming about what it would be like to call it home.
She was such a gracious host, took care of our every need. The home was spacious, very clean, and stayed cool with fans. This was my best rental experience yet! Location is fantastic with easy access to all things Manuel Antonio. We saw monkeys playing on the porch and simply loved hanging out on the patio. We decided when we come back to CR, we will head here to stay and stay in this home again. It is so important for us, who aren't used to humidity, to have the ability to spread out while staying cool. A few minor things to be aware of: the bed upstairs is on the firmer side (we have a pillow top one at home), the largest frying pan is pretty small (but I'm sure if we asked for a bigger one, we would have got one), and there isn't a DVD player which would have nice in down time. On the flip side, there were games to play for the older ones. We can't say enough good things about our stay or the area! It was amazing!
We recently stayed 3 nights at Katherine and John's place in Las Palmas. The house was beautiful, comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. The nearby pool was very large and so refreshing. My favorite thing was the wildlife and pets in the neighborhood. We spotted (and heard)a howler monkey one morning and a large troop of titi monkeys another morning. The variety of birds was amazing. Our favorite were the macaws. There were several friendly and sweet neighborhood dogs that romped and played on the trails throughout the area. One even visted us for breakfast on the terrace one morning. We're dog lovers, so it was a real treat. The owner's Katherine and John were extremely helpful and friendly. Top notch!
The owner Katherine is a pleasure! She answered all of our questions prior to our trip and pre-booked a mangrove boat excursion for us as well. She was personally there upon out arrival and toured us through the home and property to make sure we were settled. Fresh fruit upon our arrival was a nice touch. And there is a restaurant with buy one get one free cocktails for happy hour within walking distance of the home which was a great surprise after a long flight and drive. The property is amazing for spotting and hearing all types of wildlife. We raced out of the pool when we heard the howler monkeys and found them in a tree feet from the home. Woke up our last morning with a two toed sloth in a tree right outside the house. The pool is as warm as bath water and so nice after a day at the beach or hiking at the park. Kitchen is well stocked to prepare meals including a gas grill. Air conditioned worked great for our family not acclimated to the Costa Rica heat. Great home for a family wanting to explore the Manual Antonio area. Would highly recommend!
Located 10 minutes from the Manuel Antonio National Park and Beaches. You are walking distance from several restaurants and a short drive or bus journey to the nearest supermarket. The house is in a quiet residential area surrounded by tropical gardens.
There are plenty of activities to do here, the beaches, coastal dolphin and whale watching trips, snorkeling and diving, hikes in the rainforest, canopy zip-wire tours, horseback riding, ATV's..or relaxing by the pool and watching moneys!
