About the property

Wonderful Log Cabin With A Loft And Hot Tub In A Private Mountain Setting

Nestled in the Smoky Mountains, this private cabin with loft is perfect for the family get away. The Family Cabin is located on Howells at the Moon Farm, which is a 13 acre old tobacco farm. The master bedroom has a king size bed with luxury linens and a fireplace to set a romantic mood. The loft has two twin beds, so bring the kids for a great family getaway. PS2 and games are included. The kitchen is fully stocked, and even has spices and oil to cook up a great meal. The living area has plenty of seating and a large, flat screen TV with Roku, antennae, and free Netflix movies. We offer free WiFi, as well. Your cabin comes with a huge front porch with rockers, so soak up the sounds of nature that surrounds you in the forest. This property is unique; although you are tucked on the side of a mountain with plenty of privacy, you are minutes from a grocery store and all the amenities the area has to offer.

About Judy Howell

John and Judy Howell were working for the government in the DC area, and got married in Maggie Valley. They fell in love with the area and began to look for property. They feel completely blessed to have found this beautiful slice of heaven, which they named Howells at the Moon Farm.

Judy Howell purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Judy Howell chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

This property is so unique. It was an old farm and in the same family until early 2000. It's on 13 acres, surrounded by meadows and forests, with spectacular mountain views. You will feel like you are isolated in nature, but are in fact minutes away from towns, shopping and activities. It is, truly, the best of both worlds. This property has hiking trails, long range mountain views, mountain streams, and privacy.

What makes this cabin unique

From the front porch of the cabin, you can sit with a glass of wine or hot cup of cocoa, and gaze at the mist in the woods and hear the leaves rustling. Just listen to the sounds of nature and watch the fireflies dance in the evening. You will forget how hectic life can be when everything here is so tranquil. The cabin is cozy and comfortable; it's charm and hominess is to be enjoyed by couples, honeymooners, or folks looking to get away. The bedroom is comfy, outfitted in soft bed linens. After a day spent hiking or shopping, you will look forward to snuggling up in your nest. The living room has games and cards, but also has TV and wireless internet for times when you want to 'plug back in'. You will love staying here; it's like your home away from home. There are streams on the property, as well as an old barn. The property will delight you and renew your spirit.

Lovely cabin - we had a great time

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little cabin tucked into the woods on a mountain hillside. It's the best of all worlds - near town, groceries, restaurants, Smoky Mountain hikes, and other mountain activities, yet very private, quiet, and relaxing. We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.

Private and cozy cabin.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this cabin with my twin 16 year old boys. It was comfortable, and well stocked with toiletries, and kitchen items. The loft has a low ceiling but it is still comfortable for sitting and sleeping. My boys spent much of their time hanging out up there. The owners live on the property and have fresh eggs and canned goods for sale. I recommend this cabin for a nice stay in the mountains. We spent a lot of our time on the front porch enjoying the weather.

Great little cabin retreat

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time in the mountains while staying at this cute little cabin. It had everything we needed. The kids had their own loft upstairs that they loved too! You really feel tucked away in the mountains with a spectacular view of the forest.
