Perfect escape.

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cottage for three nights over New Years. Great location - remote and private, but a quick drive to the surrounding towns. Sleek mid-century furnishings, good kitchen with a retro fridge, and a great fireplace. Very comfortable master bedroom. It was the perfect spot to unplug and relax. Thanks, Paul!

Not a better view from a property

  • 5 of 5

This home's property is absolutely awesome, with one of the best views I have seen from a property in the Catskills. The main bedroom has big windows to the view, as does the living room. This property has all the amenities needed, full kitchen and bathroom, internet, indoor fireplace and outdoor fireplace. If you can work a fireplace, then you wont need any other source of heat, because its a great fireplace.

Paul is an excellent host and more than willing to assist with any questions. I will stay here again!

Great little cottage getaway

  • 4 of 5

My overall rating for the property is a 4.5 (just because it's hard for me to give a perfect score for anything). I'd definitely recommend others stay here.

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights as a little autumn nature getaway from our urban NYC lives, and had a great time. Perfect-sized space with all the amenities and absolutely lovely decor (vintage-y without being in-your-face rustic). Gorgeous views -- I loved waking up early and watching the sun rise over the mountains with my fresh cup of coffee in hand. The mattress/blankets/sheets in the main bedroom were some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, even in hotels -- which sounds like a minor thing, but if you consider that I'm in my third trimester of pregnancy, comfort is everything!

Like I said, I would definitely recommend others stay here, but there are a couple of minor things I might give a heads-up about... One, the internet within the house drops every few minutes, which wasn't a big deal for us as we could still check emails and websites, etc., but if for some reason someone needs continuous access for work or something (though why would you do that?), it might be an issue for them. Two, the hot water in the sinks/shower has a bit of a sulfur smell, but don't let it scare you, it goes away after a few moments. Three, depending on the time of year you visit and whether or not you cook during your stay, you might find a critter companion or two seeking warmth/food, so make sure you wash all dishes and wipe down the kitchen each night before you go to sleep so as not to encourage more -- but it really didn't bother us (nature!).

Hope others enjoy their stay here as much as we did!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your lovely review, Paulina! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! As for the minor issues you had: 1. The Wifi device probably just needed to be reset (a simple procedure detailed in the house manual) because what you described is not at all typical. It's working fine now. 2. Yes, if the cottage hasn't been used for a few days, a slight sulphur smell develops in the hot water tank, but as you said it goes away quickly once you run the hot water, and it is not in the actual water supply. 3. Indeed, everyone gets the occasional field mouse in the country, but it's not at all a common occurrence in the cottage. Your visit coincided with the first cold snap in the weather which surely encouraged a small visitor. I offered to have my housekeeper come over and set traps but you said it didn't bother you. Rest assured, the critter was captured after your departure and "relocated". All the best!

Excellent getaway, we will be back to enjoy as soon as we cam

  • 5 of 5

We also had a great time at this perfectly situated cabin where we spent several days cooking, hiking, bbqing, reading and of course relaxing. Of the four of us, plus pup, we each had a different favorite part, from the fully-equipped kitchen for cooking and baking (me), to the deck and bbq (all of us), the leather seat for reading (the readers in the group), to the beautiful field that sits in back of property (the pup and explorers), we all spread out and reconvened daily. Paul, the owner, was also responsive and provided great information on the cabin and the surrounding areas so you will be well taken care of. Can't wait to go back!

Surpassed Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

From the other reviews I already had high expectations but I was still surprised. The location is very secluded being a long driveway off the very quiet road. The cottage was very comfortable and well stocked.

As others have said the pictures here are nice but the reality was even better. If you are looking to get away i doubt you could find a more suitable place.
