I am a Wisconsin native and have 2 sons. I work as a Physical Therapist, and enjoy reading, hiking, and quilting in my free time.
My husband is a steam fitter, and also a retired c130 loadmaster from the Airforce. He enjoys fishing, and motorcycling.

Growing up, my family had vacationed in the Great Northwoods for many years. I had many fond memories of time spent 'up north' playing at the lake. A few years ago, my own family actually rented Grandma Dorothy's for 2 summers, when it became available for purchase. I couldn't bear the thought of not being able to spend time at Grandma Dorothy's. We wanted to continue the tradition of spending time here with family and friends. We bought the place and have been spending vacations up here ever since.
I love the convenience of living just on the outskirts of town, but having the feel of being secluded in a lakeside retreat. We can walk or ride bikes into town, or to the beach, etc, many times a day. The kids are never bored because there is so much to do.
One of my favorite things to do is take a stroll on the trail near the house, either early morning, or at dusk. Often times I will spot deer or other wildlife along the path.
I wanted a three-day vacation in a peaceful, beautiful spot to rewind and recharge. I found the perfect place at Grandma Dorothy's! It was very clean and spacious with great beach access, especially for someone with mobility issues. I have a bad back so not having to clamber over steps or rocks was ideal.
Although it did rain (esp Saturday morning), I really enjoyed sleeping with the window open, listening to the rain on the tin roof and leaves and the waves on the lake. The view of the lake is gorgeous. Clean, fresh air!
It was nice to be secluded enough yet have easy access to town and amenities. I only wish I could come back with my husband and our dogs, but pets aren't allowed here due to allergies.
Highly recommend this property
Our whole family had a wonderful time at grandma Dorothy's. We looked for a place which could accommodate our elderly parents plus offer all the fun of a northern retreat for all ages. View was spectacular and cabin was very nice! We all can't wait to go back next year.
Once again loved our time at Grandma Dorothy's, wonderful weather, great fishing and the great out doors. We are already booking next years stay. Love it
We loved our stay at this cabin! Lovely retreat, close to town yet private! Beautiful view of the Lake'
We have a unique connection to this place. We enjoyed being back. The views to the lake are wonderful, the house is equipped with all the necessities, etc.
The Grandma Dorothy sign by entrance is broke...not sure if you knew.
Thank you for a great trip.
We stayed here for a ski weekend with a few adults and couple kids. Nice place, super clean, great views out the front window, and the kids loved their little bedroom. We'll be back I'm sure!
