About Alexei and Matthew
We're a couple of Seattle transplants, that just recently started to grow our Hawaiian roots. It has been our favorite vacation spot for over 15 years, now we can finally call it our home. This charming studio is our second acquisition on the island, and we are happy to share it with visitors to the beautiful Hawaii.
Alexei and Matthew purchased this Hotel in 2013
Why Alexei and Matthew chose Diamond Head - Kapahulu - St. Louis
Only steps away from the most famous beach in the world, it offers an a amazing, incomparable view of the Ocean, and Diamond Head at the same time. On the edge of the Kapiolani Park, this view is preserved forever. It offers the best of the both worlds: hotel amenities, plus convenience of your own kitchen, at small fraction of the price, that a comparable hotel suite with the similar view would charge.
What makes this Hotel unique
We fell in love with the view, it still has that old charm of beautiful Hawaiian nature, long lost elsewhere in the hustle and bustle of the major tourism mecca of Waikiki.

Great place to stay
Was in town for work and some fun great spot beautiful views and nice unit, clean modern. Miss it already
Great views, great location!
Very small unit but the views and location were amazing! Very close to lots of delicious restaurants, short walk to the beach and shops. Also very short drive to Diamond Head. Unit was clean, bed and sheets very comfortable! Overall a perfect place to stay and we would stay here again in the future! Mahalo!
Beautifully decorated and comfortable in a great location very close to the beach. Outrageously wonderful views of the ocean and Diamond Head. Only drawback was loud music until late at night from the bar four floors below. A great location if you want to dance the night away, though .
Wonderful views and location, Perfect getaway
We had such a wonderful stay at Alexei and Matthew's apartment! The location is perfect, with a stunning view of Diamond Head, a 3-second walk to the beach, terrific access to the main bus lines and lots of good hole-in-the-wall restaurants nearby. We loved the location because it wasn't in the heart of Waikiki, but was still near all the action. Plus, the greenery from the zoo and Kapiolani Park is wonderful! The apartment is beautiful and clean, and everyone at the Waikiki Grand is incredibly welcoming. We will definitely be back!
Perfect location - Great view - Gracious host
We stayed in Alexei's apartment while attending a conference. Alexei is a very accommodating host and he always returned our messages quickly. The apartment itself is just about perfect. It’s bright – due to the huge, south-facing window. It’s clean. It's right across the street from Kapiolani Park and Honolulu Zoo, one-half block from the beach, just a few minutes’ walk from many great restaurants and bars, and only feet way from an ABC Store (but that’s to be expected in Honolulu). The awesome view from the apartment and balcony looks over the zoo (we often watched the flamingos) and Diamond Head, which seems close enough to touch. Access to the apartment is easy due to the passcode door lock. The hotel's front desk staff is always on duty, very pleasant, and helpful. The apartment's kitchen is small, but fully equipped (even wine glasses). There are also beach chairs and an umbrella for guest use. The only negatives are that it took quite a while (sometimes several minutes) for the shower water to get hot (we began joking that the hot water was coming in from the Mainland) and the noise when the balcony door was open (and you'll want to have it open all the time - it is Hawaii and perpetually 78 degrees, after all) from the street below and the 2nd floor bar in the evenings is sometimes obtrusive. However, neither of those issues would keep us from coming back, if ever we have the chance.
Clean space, Great location
This vrbo is a great find. It is located close to the beach and is situated in an older hotel on the 6th floor. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. We spent little time in the room other than sleeping and showering. We Loved the rooftop patio and enjoyed a sunset from that higher vantage point. The evening noise level from outside wasn't too bad due to the zoo being across the street. Things slow down outside at night, but you are still within walking distance to the crowd if you like. The owner was easy to work with throughout the whole process. We would definitely stay here again.
The best view in Waikiki, Queen's Beach, Kuhio Beach are just a few steps away. A rare, unobstructed view of the Ocean, Diamond Head, and Kapiolani Park.
