About Gerald Smyth
My wife and I are both management consultants who have traveled widely for decades, and have developed a strong sense of what we like in a locale and in accommodations. We actively manage our vacation rentals as a future retirement plan, but we select and prepare them by asking a simple test question -- would we be happy to live in them ourselves?

What makes this House unique
Capitol Hill townhouses are quaint but tend to be very deep and narrow, and in consequence dark. This house is the antithesis of that, with its open floor plan and skylights. It is a whole-house rental, not a basement or condo, and within the context of Capitol Hill's 19th century houses, is relatively large at 1700 square feet.

Wonderful for family.
Recently renovated classic brick home with all the amenities you need for a family with young children. Three bedrooms on charming, but narrow top floor share one bathroom, so you’ll need to be comfortable in close quarters.
The home was roomy and gracious. Wonderful stay.
Beautiful house and great location. Great place to stay with 3 kids!
We stayed here with our family of 5 (kids age 10, 8 and 2). House had everything we needed. Nice full sized crib (our two year old is very tall and those small hotel cribs are a little small for him). There's a nice playground and park one block away which was great as well. Capitol and Union station both a pleasant walk away. Kitchen well supplied for cooking. No complaints!
Absolutely the best!
Everything was perfect.
We loved the home and it was very close to the bus stops and Union station so it made traveling around the city very easy.
Another great stay
We have stayed here twice and from the seating to the beds to the kitchen, it is so comfortable and usable. Excellent place and very helpful owner!
The house is located on a quiet friendly street less than half a block from Stanton Park and one block from Restaurant Row, a block of restaurants with tables right on the sidewalk. Capitol Hill is a historical conservation neighborhood of beautifully maintained, charming old houses. It has a small-town feel and a human scale, is cosmopolitan, and has a thriving cultural scene. The residential area closest to Washington's institutions, it is home to a large number of politicians and VIPs.
