Great place and would return as often as possible. The place is so peaceful and convenient for others to do other activities if they wish. We enjoyed the house most of the time and our grandchildren enjoyed other activities, hiking, caving and of course Pidgeon Forge and Dolly wood. Hopefully we can see you next spring

We stayed at Bears Den Lodge this past Thanksgiving with 18 family members and had a wonderful time. The sweeping views of the smoky mountains are impressive when you first walk into the lodge. The floor to ceiling windows and expansive deck allow you to take in the full view. The property was clean with fresh sheets, towels and a few nice fall decor touches. They even had fresh flowers in the kitchen which was a nice touch. They did have a Keurig coffee maker, but it was missing a part and the other coffee maker was broken. After reaching out to Sarah, the owner, though, two property managers came and remedied the situation by going into town and buying 2 coffee makers. We were so thankful for their quick response and prompt return on the night before Thanksgiving. The bedrooms were enough for all of us and the kids got to sleep in the game room which they liked. They probably would have like a bathroom close to the game room, but there were plenty inside the lodge. We were thankful for the extra refrigerator and ice maker in the pantry. We would not have been able to cool all of our food without them. The stacked stone fireplace was gorgeous and the ledge around it provided a perfect resting spot to sit and take in the fire. The close proximity to the Smoky Mountains allowed us to drive into the park each day and go on long hikes and return to the comfort of the lodge. Unfortunately, the pool was not open and we didn't make plans to take in the golf course, but there was still plenty to do. Only a few things I would want to mention so that they prepare for the next guests is that the kitchen be stocked with better utensils and cleaned a bit better. There was no whisk and only one spatula. Since we were cooking several big meals, it would have been nice to easily reach for these things, but we found ourselves looking in every drawer and coming up short. The oven, while it looks nice in the photo, had seen better days and the cooktop could have used a deep cleaning. There was also a sippy cup left sitting near the top of the hood in the kitchen. It may have been that the cleaning crew missed a few details, but it did not affect our overall stay. All in all, I would recommend Bears Den to anyone with a large family wanting a great fall getaway.
If you are looking for luxurious accommodations and a great sunrise view of Mount LeConte and the Wears Valley, you cannot find a better place than the Bear's Den Lodge. With four master suites and a huge great room and massive deck, we had ample area to relax and take in the mountains. The Lodge offers separate, high-end bathrooms for each suite, and a massive open kitchen with a glassed-in great room equipped with a huge stone fireplace and a TV large enough for all to see. Ours was a group of adults, but there is a connected game room that would have slept several kids and kept them occupied for hours. We have enjoyed several VRBO properties over the years, and this is likely the best of them all.
Perched at the very end of Bear's Den Road, the 'Bear's Den' delivers phenomenal east facing views and luxury accommodations. Big or small gatherings have plenty of room to congregate together or spread out. The house is furnished with top of the line appliances, travertine bathrooms, generous seating areas, separate game room and massive deck.
We took advantage of the pool access at Laurel Valley Country Club on 2 separate afternoons following a half day of hiking.
The owner made sure we arrived safely and was available by phone or text for any questions we may have had. Our group would definitely return.
Wow! What an amazing home. The views are spectacular, the best in all of Laurel Valley.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed to make and serve a gourmet meal...pots/pans/dishes/silver/glasses...enough for our group of 8 (4 couples), plus there would be enough for a group twice that size. The home was impeccably clean although no shampoos/lotions/dish soap, but the owner did make that clear in advance, which was helpful.
We are very fortunate that the owner is offering this home to guests, as it is very high end.
Each bedroom has it's own bathroom and deck overlooking the view, plus each floor has it's own powder room.
The pantry with an ice maker and extra fridge came in handy. Some of my friends are from Florida and Texas so the 'flatlanders' were a bit surprised by the steep drive up to the home. I am from this area so I knew to get a view like that it is to be expected.
The fitness center is perfect for a nice workout. It has Dumbells, Bench press, Power Rack, multi station machine, treadmills, ellipticals, and one bike.
Townsend is extremely limited in good restaurants and many of my favorites have closed recently, plus the grocery store is basic with no organic items, so I recommend shopping at Kroger in Maryville (25-30 minute drive).
It was difficult to even leave this gorgeous home to go exploring for the day, as all of us just wanted to relax on the deck!
We will definitely be renting again. This home looks even better in person, and has everything you will need! The beds are super comfy, the game room is perfect for the kids, and the location is so convenient to Gatlinburg, Cade's Cove etc. yet the cabin is private and secluded. Sarah is very responsive to any questions you may have. Five stars!
