This is where you want to go when you truly want to 'get away from it all'. This is a Private Home on 5 beautifully landscaped acres ,with its own private beach and cabana. Most Long Islanders consider Galloway Beach to be 'the Prettiest Beach' on Long Island. We are on the lee side of the island (gulf side) so the water is a clear turquoise blue and very calm. The sand is soft and snow white. This water is perfect for children. It is literally like a huge swimming pool. There is some snorkeling just off the beach at small coral head. More dramatic snorkeling on the easily accessible Atlantic side.
*NOTE...Google map shows the house in Clarencetown since we do not have an 'address'. Clarencetown is on the Atlantic side of the island, our house is on the opposite side (Gulf side) of the island, about 3 miles away. See photos of map to locate exact location of house.
Bone fishing is accessible close by. The house is located next to the old Diamond Crystal Salt Works. There are lots of shallow 'flats' that you can walk to to bone fish. Bone fish, barracuda, tarpon are some of the fish you will encounter. You can walk or drive to lots of isolated water. (See Ron's review for info on lures he used ....very informative,...we don't fish so that might be helpful info)
Enjoy your morning coffee on the patio, while viewing the tranquil sea. Watch osprey and flamingos fly overhead while mockingbirds sing. There are no 'neighbors' 10 acres north or south of the house so you are insured a lot of privacy. We are 5 miles from the main road so there is no traffic noise. There are only about 8 houses total on Galloway beach (each on huge lots)
Our house is spacious and comfortable. House features 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, open living room/dining room, full kitchen, covered patio with view to the sea. AC and also ceiling fans in all all rooms. Gas bbq grill, patio table and chairs and loungers on patio. There is also an outdoor shower for rinsing off sand after a day on the beach. Private cabana on the beach with furniture.
-Bedroom 1 has queen bed
-Bedroom 2 has queen bed and twin bed
-Bedroom 3 has double bed and bunk beds.
Home sleeps 9 total.
-2 full bathrooms with shower stalls.
-Kitchen has refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, blender, all pots and pans, utensils, dishes, glassware, picnic dishes, linens, etc
Kitchen has table that seats 4, bar area that seats 4 and opens onto the dining room which has a table that seats 6 to 8. Sliding glass doors in the dining room look out on to the patio.
Linens included for all beds, plus towels, beach towels.
All bedrooms have ceiling fans. In the winter and spring months, the breezes keep air conditioning unnecessary. Sleep with the screened windows open and awake to birds singing. In the hotter, summer months, air conditioning keeps the house very comfortable. The water is warm in the winter months and very warm in the summer months.
We are located appr. 5 miles from Clarencetown. In Clarencetown, you will find a small grocery store, and several restaurants. WiFi is available at Winter Haven Restaurant and also at Flying Fish Marina. This is the capital of Long Island and location of the Marina. There is a gas station there and also this is where the mail boat comes in with supplies. You can find fresh fruits and vegetables at the packing house located next to the harbor.
In Deadman's Cay, location of the airport, appr 17 miles, you will find fully stocked grocery stores, liquor stores, laundry service (just drop off and pick up the next day!), restaurants. Max Conch Bar is a must...serving the world famous Conch Salad. WiFi is available at the Conch Bar. There are small gift shops.
In Deadman's Cay you can make arrangements to rent a car, or go bonefishing. You can rent a car at other locations on the island.
There is a health clinic in Deadman's Cay.
Bone fishing, scuba diving, kayaking and lots of other water sports and activities are available on the island. Other spots not to miss are Dean's Blue Hole, the worlds deepest blue hole, BonnaCorde lagoon beach, (great fun for young snorklers), and in the north, Columbus Point Monument with breathtaking cliff views of the sea. There are also caves to explore, plantation ruins, local museum, and lots of unspoiled beaches to walk.
Long Island has enough to keep you entertained or if you want to totally relax, our house has all you need....tranquil sea, and palms rustling in a gentle breeze......

This home is owned by 3 families (since 1987). We wanted a fun, safe place to vacation with our children. Gordon Rose, Dan & Patty Oliver, and Robert LoPresti welcome you to their paradise.
Patty Oliver purchased this house in 1987
As soon as we saw this property, we fell in love with the calm clear water and privacy of the beautiful grounds. It's perfect for children to play and swim. The grounds are quiet and peaceful. You can sit and birdwatch from the patio. Osprey thrill you with the majesty, mockingbirds serenade you in the morning. We just find it to be paradise...
One of the unique aspects of this property is that you are likely not to see anyone on the beach. The beach is on the lee side of the island so the water is very calm the majority of the time. The house is on a very secluded road so you hear no road traffic, no phones ringing, no tv blaring...just peace and quiet.
Setting out for a our first bonefishing trip with a small group of friends, we were fortunate to select the serene Galloway Beach House on Long Island to be our DIY angler's headquarters. It was perfect. All the stuff you need and none of the stuff you don't. Air conditioning, hot water, good beds, you name it. The owner's (remote) and caretaker (local) were a breeze to deal with. We were blown away by just how large, private and beautiful the property was. If you're a fan of flour-fine white sand beaches, clear blue water and no interruptions - you'd never even have to leave the house. For those in search of bonefish on the fly, let's just say we sighted as many fish within walking distance as we did driving 60 miles north. The pictures were accurate. The process was straightforward. We plan to book here again. It was truly great.
Note: though the house is quite a ways off the beaten path, Verizon phones with international plans had okay coverage.
My three generation family of five, including two children under 5 stayed at the Galloway beach house for three weeks in February. I can't think of a thing that would have made our stay more enjoyable. The house is well represented by the pictures on the listing and the map. The house offers the ultimate privacy, but is less than 15 minutes from the Clarence Town marina and a couple of restaurants.
The house is well laid out on one floor with spacious bedrooms, living area and kitchen. The kitchen had everything we needed and there were plenty of beach towels. The huge shaded patio served as a second living room, with chairs and table - perfect for playing, eating outside, and managing wet clothes and sandy feet.
The beachfront cabana provided much welcome shade and a place for chairs and small table off of the sand, so we spent long stretches of time out at the beach. The water is glorious, breathtaking, clear Caribbean blue and I couldn't get enough of it. The water was usually calm enough for the children and we brought inflatable floats from home which provided hours of relaxing water time. We ended most days with happy hour and sunsets at the cabana.
The beach in front of the house is a stretch of fine white sand dotted with rocks. The shoreline beyond the house offers alternating sections of sand and rocky ledges adding great interest to this location. We walked often in both directions along the shore many times. It was blast to use our floats to let the tide carry us out to the sea at the nearby inlet. Another don't miss spot is the larger cut a bit further south - sand bars at low tide, and a way to the inland channels that lead all the way back to the house by kayak. Be sure to explore if you are lucky enough to stay here.
We topped off our fun by renting kayaks from Unique Wheels, very close to the house. We were able to explore much further from the house - to rocky shores and a shipwreck to the north, and the cut to the south.
I came to love the last mile of unpaved road to get to the house, no internet, and hanging my clothes outside to dry. A stay here will give you a true relaxing experience in a gorgeous natural setting. Patty was a delight to communicate with in every way. I highly recommend this house. Five Stars.
We are a french family with 3 children. We spent 4 vweeks on Long Island this summer in Galloway Beach House. We already were in Thailand, in Madagascar, in Sri Lanka but this place is really incredible. The house is really well located, the beach in front of the house is terrific, very secured for Young children. We also had lots of fun with fishing, we caught sharks, barracuda, grooper... and so many others. Thank you to Dan and Patty who have been very helpfull, included when we were in the villa. Inside of the villa, you can find everything you need, it is very clean. We stopped one day in Nassau in a hotel recommended by patty and Dan, it was nice and not too expensive. Long Island is very quiet and the people on it are so nice and kindly. We will go back, maybe already next year.
We just returned and had a lovely time! The house is located on a really great beach for swimming and otherwise beachgoing (that is why we chose Galloway house, and it lived up to our expectations!). Our two small children loved playing at the beach in front of the house. The house itself was well equiped, and we found nothing that we were missing in terms of household needs. It's not fancy or high end, but it has everything you need and everything is well maintained and works. The owners were very friendly and helpful and nice to deal with, as were the caretakers who were extremely nice as well. We also were impressed with the locals, who were always kind, friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Thank you for a wonderful trip!
Had a wonderful 2 weeks & can't wait to get back. But you do need a broom & dust pan
Very beautiful, private well appointed home on a beautiful and for the most part private beach! Perfect for my wife and I to get away or a family. The water is gorgeous and safe. The house is set up perfect. Couldn't ask for more!

The house is located 3 miles from Clarencetown. It is very remote making it your own peaceful getaway. The beach is private, very few people walking beach as there are only 8 houses on this road, each on 5 to 10 acre lots. The other homes are privately owned with only 1 other renting. Therefore there is little noise or activity on this road and beach. You rarely hear a car, only birds singing, palms rustling and waves lapping.....You will feel you are on your own island......
