Il Trebbio is a converted 3-bedrooms holiday self catering farmhouse on a hillside overlooking the wonderful medieval town of Barga (Tuscany, Lucca province), with the Serchio valley and the Apuan Alps beyond: this stunning panorama is its finest asset, which no guest yet has failed to appreciate. The area is totally unspoiled. There is a village shop, hotel and restaurant at the hamlet of Albiano, 5 minutes walk away. Barga is about 5 minutes away by car, Lucca 35 minutes.
Barga is in a strategic position to plan your visit to the most important tuscan cities like Florence, Pisa, Siena.Very close to Barga the wonderful heaven of “Cinque Terre” and the famous sea place of Versilia too.Obviously Barga itself and its surroundings are absolutely wonderful, rich in art works, natural parks and great wine and food!
An indirect evidence of the gorgeous heaven offered at Il Trebbio, with its quite, large, panoramic green park, its warm atmosphere and above all our hospitality is the guests percentage that came back: second time 60%, third time 40%!
All of them confirm to us, with gratifying happiness, that Il Trebbio really represents the Tuscan Heaven!!!
The house has central heating so it is available year-round; most of the spring/summer/late summer season usually is near to be completely booked from February, so it is a good idea to make plans well in advance.

So many special memories of il Trebbio: waking up to the breathtaking view of Barga from our windows; enjoying breakfast in the sun on the terrace and aperitifs in the late afternoon sun from the upper garden terrace.
My family of five enjoyed two weeks at il Trebbio and were incredibly happy with our choice of villa. Albiano is a short drive to Barga and perfectly located to enjoy views of the old city. For our young children the house is perfectly set up with enough lawn to play on and a lovely gardened terrace to play games on too. The house is well set up and equipped, and is very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the outdoors living where we could enjoy food and drinks while soaking up the views of Barga, Serchio Valley and the mountain. Owner Diego and his family were incredibly hospitable and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely stay at il Trebbio again when we are next in Barga!
Il Trebbio is a wonderful, peaceful, beautiful and relaxing villa. The owners are extremely helpful and kind. Our whole family really enjoyed our stay. We were a party of 5, three 19-21 and two parents. The facilities were great and our hosts were very responsive. The local village pool is really well managed and clean. They open late on Wednsday from 2pm to 12 midnight. The local restaurant run the pool so if you want to eat at the local restaurant on Wednesday it will by the pool and you will need to pre book and order. The views are to die for. My youngest said "this is a view I could never tire of" and I have to agree. I would recommend a day trip to Lucca if you have time. I would also recommend a trip to the top of Barga to get the views and eat on the way down.
I can seriously recommend this villa! Hope to visit again sometime soon.
We spent two very special weeks in the house and we were looked after by Diego and his lovely family.
The property inside and out is pristine. A clever blend of rustic but not old and dusty. Carefully put together making it feel homely.
The view from all the rooms was quite stunning and something you would pay a lot of money.
Nearly everyday was spent on the patio relaxing and admiring the view.
There is a small side garden that was more than big enough for our 12 year old to play football.
In order to get these views there are lots and lots of hills - be prepared.
A large Supermarket only 10 mins drive away
Cafe and shop 30 mins walk away ( down those hills. )
Restaurant and little bar 10 mins walk away.
Lovely hotel ( Marriott Coco Renaissance ) only 10 mins drive away if you want a posh night out.
The temperature were 5c lower than the towns and cities because we were in the hills and a fairly constant breeze made it very pleasant.
Overall the best place we have stayed in for a long time.
Thanks to Diego and Sonia and ( Diego's dad who popped over for 5 mins every few days to being fruit and say hello )
Arrived at our property, to find, owners had left a bottle of wine, a lovely packet of biscotti and freshly picked flowers for our arrival, a lovely thought.
The property is in excellent condition, very clean and spacious. The views from the open veranda are absolutely stunning, looking over to the town of Barga and the surrounding country side. Close to local swimming pool in Albino, which we used often during our stay,at a discounted rate through our accommodation.
We had a small problem with the property's Wi-Fi at first, but it was quickly resolved by Diego and it worked perfectly after the fix.
All in all, an excellent stay, no problems whatsoever. We felt really welcomed by Diego,Sonia and family. We would definitely recommend this property.
Having travelled throughout Italy I can honestly say that the Villa Trivium near Barga is the best I have ever stayed in. Immaculate throughout with beautiful decor and great taste.
The Patio area was also great with large Patio umbrellas and a beautiful view, in the heart of nature. There is a great restaurant within walking distance which has very reasonable prices.
A perfect holiday and a lovely family who will do everything they can to make your stay an enjoyable one. Great times.
May 2016 was a return visit to Villa Trivium. The villa is well located for day trips or just exploring the area. Hiking trails are easily accessed. The Villa is well equipped and expertly managed by Diego, Sonia, Amelia and Angelo. The Strina family are perfect hosts. Lovely well maintained gardens surround the villa. Views are spectacular! Definitely a destination to be enjoyed by a multigenerational.

We had a wonderful week in this very comfortable villa. The villa was all that we hoped for and more. The kitchen was very useable - the BEST pots & pans and knives that I have ever found in any rental or time share. All 3 bedrooms were good size with comfortable mattresses. Outside the villa there is a nice patio, (pizza oven & table for 6) with a great view of nearby Barga. The small village of Albiano was a short 10 minute walk - nice restaurant, bar, groceries. Barga is a 25 minute winding drive below the villa or you can walk down in about the same time via the old donkey trail - relatively easy ups and downs. The wonderful city of Lucca is about 40 minutes away. Florence and Pisa are also close but we were looking for a rural non tourist experience that is exactly what we found here.
