Dawn Davis purchased this townhome in 1940
Very quiet neighborhood. The rooms had ample space. But, will not house 6 people comfortably due to the one small bathroom; best for 3 people max. The 7-11 across the street and the little deli was great for late night munchies. Having the, free, DCtrain was great! There are several restaurants and bars along the way. We enjoyed dinner at the Argonaut. The train's last stops are 300 feet from the house and across from bus parking that's connected to Union Station, so very easy to get to downtown. It would be real nice if there were a washer and dryer available; Laundromat is about 4 blocks away.
3 adults stayed in early May 2016. Although public transport very close we chose to use cabs because of our short stay.
(Averaged $25 per trip.) we also ate our lunches in great DC restaurants.
We enjoyed being able to come back from a long day on our feet and settling in with a drink and simply prepared dinner.
Beds were comfortable and kitchen well supplied with cooking necessities. Off street parking for a nominal fee was a big plus.
We would very much recommend this townhouse and we would stay there again if we return to DC
My family of 7 stayed at the house of style recently and i must say that we all had a fantastic stay. The house was impeccably clean, and well decorated making the stay much more fun then a hotel. They house had everything we needed to stay in the dc area for a week. We cooked breakfast and dinner at the house nearly every day and everything we needed in the kitchen was availible. The house is close to the metro though not really walking distance we had no trouble finding parking by the nearest metro stations. Driving into town was very easy as well, maybe a twenty minute drive from all the major memorials. I would definitely suggest renting the private parking space in the back of the house, parking along the street can be sparce and it was very nice to feel like we didnt have to search for parking after a long day. The beds were comfortable and there were more then enough towels and toiletries for our stay and we had 7 people. I would recommend Dawns house to anyone looking to enjoy the city. Thank you for everything!
Dawn provided a beautiful and inviting home. She was very accommodating and made the entire process easy.
Her home was so close to the Street Trolley, that took us to Union Station, which really was our hub for our week in DC.
We enjoyed trekking around the city soaking in the art, history, and culture and knew at night when we were tired and ready to go relax for the evening that this family of 4 had our own space (not like you would in a hotel). But we enjoyed gathering in the family room and the dining room too.
I would recommend booking with Dawn as soon as you can.
We will be future VRBOers- thanks to this wonderful experience as 1st timers.
Take care and happy traveling.
Arrived to Dawns property ready for us snacks and all! Dawn had juice and snacks ready for us which was nice because the kids really needed them! Dawn has additional things available like "starter" paper towels and toilet paper that other properties make you bring your own supply from the start! Home is clean, beds are comfortable, and neighbors are kind and quiet I actually wondered if people lived there! In the evening we sat on the front porch and watched the neighbor kids play and enjoyed the goings on!
There is street parking and private ally parking (must reserve ahead) behind the home which we used both! My family used the public transportation system 95% of the time, we did not want to worry about traffic, directions, and parking that come with the DC area! The trolly is still free and is one block from the home that leaves every 15 minutes! The bus stop is across the street from the trolly and that takes you any place you need. Avoid public transit on "rush hour" times and to use the bus and subway you need to purchase a card!
There is a 7-11 on the corner which is nice for those forgotten items and we ordered pizza and things from the eatery on the other corner within walking distance. There is every kind of places to eat in 8-10 blocks. We liked PoBoy Jims and ate there 2-3 times out of this world hot wings, if you like fish you have to go to Horace and Dickie's, and there is the typical McDs and Popeyes just to mention a few!
Dawn is just a text away with any questions about the home, the property, area, transportation, good places to eat and fun things to do in the area! We tried not to bug her to much... We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again if we go back! The home accommodated our four adult sons and us for a total of six comfortably!
One problem was trying to schedule six adults in one bathroom... but hey we worked it out!!! Not many places can accommodate a family as large as ours but Dawns did! 4.75 STARS
We had a great time. The condo was very comfortable. Kitchen was tiny but served it's purpose, and it was perfect for a weekend, or 2 people for longer. Beds were comfortable.
We were a little worried about the area at first, but the street was nice, and neighbors were very friendly. We parked on the street all weekend without a problem. It was close to bus and bikes. I would definitely rent the parking spot of going during the week, of a stadium event.
