Bovina Center Estate Rental Photos and Description

5 bedrooms, 4 full baths, sleeps 14 adults, and is the perfect wedding venue!

This spacious, elegant, lakefront log home sits tucked away on a secluded 52-acre mountain retreat, surrounded by hundreds of acres of publicly-owned forest and rolling hills. The house looks out onto a beautiful, private 7-acre lake where you can swim, boat and fish. After grilling up your dinner on the oversized deck, take a swing in the hammock and then relax in an Adirondack chair and watch the stars come out in total silence. Situated midway between Woodstock and Cooperstown, Spruce Lake Farm is 5 minutes from quaint Bovina Center, 10 minutes from a premier 18-hole golf course, and 15 minutes from supermarkets, antique shops, fine dining and boutique shopping in Andes and Delhi. Children will love the tree house, play set and beach, as well as the two rowboats and numerous forest trails. Wireless internet and satellite TV are free. Spruce Lake Farm also makes a wonderful gathering place for weddings, reunions and company retreats.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Adam, We had a most wonderful week. My 4 adult children, and their children felt like this was our home! And we took pride in taking care of it. Everyone cleaned up after themselves, shared kitchen duties, and just fell in love with the comfort, the surroundings, and all there was to do there. Our youngest grandchild is 6 months old, then we have 2 little girls, 3 and 4, and 2 little boys 4 and 6.

We enjoyed the fire pit, and my son-in-law and son are both Eagle Scouts, so they maintained the fire very well. Another son is a great cook, so he took over the grilling, and we women just enjoyed being pampered!

For me, Adam, I hope I can return, if God gives my husband and I our health. We are 70 years old, and family is everything to us. We would love to plan another reunion down the road. Did I mention how kind all the local people were to us, when we said we were staying at Spruce Lake Farm? We learned about the history of the home, and the general store lady, named Bee, was very warm and kind, and great brownies and pies! My daughter posted our pictures on Facebook/ sprucelakefarm. I could truly see myself being the guardian for this home, because it is a house built with love! Oh, the grandchildren enjoyed the treehouse, every morning, and last thing at night.

Well, I hate to say "Good-bye" so I'll just say, I hope to come back, and I hope to talk to you again about another stay at this beautiful Spruce Lake Farm! Thank you Adam, and if you have any advice about upcoming stays, I would so appreciate that.

The perfect multigenerational vacation

  • 5 of 5

"Best vacation ever" according to my 11 year old grandson. His 3 younger siblings agree as do the 7 adults and 4 dogs. The house is perfect, plenty of room for all. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked. We cooked all meals at home for our crowd of 11 and had plenty of pots, pans, and every utensil needed. But the star of our vacation was the lake. We brought a kayak. Everyone, including the youngest granddaughter who is 5, got to explore the lake in the kayak. The beach area was perfect for the kids and adults to swim in. The kids learned how to row a rowboat. My husband explored the whole pond with goggles and snorkel. The lawn was perfect for lawn games and we closed every day with a campfire and s'mores. We brought bikes which the adults used for rides exploring the area but the kids had plenty of biking area right around the house. The spruce forest across the lake is another great area for exploring. And just to add to the perfection, the red raspberries ripened while we were there so our mornings started off with raspberry pancakes. The owner and caretaker were helpful and responsive. The kids actually did not want to leave the property. The only touristy thing we did was visit a local farm to see the baby pigs, Dexter cows, and baby chicks. Delhi is not far away for restocking on groceries and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. We are especially greatful to the Delhi animal hospital who took care of our dog who had a bad reaction to a bee sting. They even delayed closing until we could get there. We also had a great experience with the helpful, friendly staff at the Rite- aid in Delhi. I highly recommend Spruce Lake Farm for a great family vacation.

No other place on earth, we would rather be!

  • 5 of 5

Spectacular home, magnificent view of the lake from every room, and so much to do just on the property alone. This was our family reunion of 10 adults and 6 grandchildren from 7 month's to 16 years old ! Plenty of space for all of us in the house, and how well-stocked the cupboards were made this vacation such a knock-out, fabulous time. The home was so clean, and so very comfortable for a large crowd like ours! At night we all sat around the fire pit, sang songs, toasted marshmallows, and the mountain air just lulled us all to a peaceful sleep! And having our private lake, for the grandkids, and the grown-ups with boats, and a beach area for the little ones made us feel like kings and queens! We are a hard working family, as many Americans are, so this house truly gave us the escape we needed! I want to thank Adam for all he did to make sure the week went well, and it did! And a thank you to Heinz, the caretaker, and Amy,our housekeeper for having everything ready for our stay! As you can tell, We highly recommend Spruce Lake Farm, and we plan to make this our only vacation retreat home!

Relaxing and Magical Family Christmas Break

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, tranquil house set in acres of peaceful woodland next to a stunning lake. The house was warm, comfortable and very well equipped with loads of space for the entire extended family. We enjoyed fabulous walks with the dogs, precious holiday family time playing board games in the amazingly beautiful lounge, cooking delicious family meals (including a three course Christmas lunch!) and wonderfully silly, fun evenings toasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories around the fire pit by the lake. The sunrise behind the pine forest, and reflected in the water, are well worth waking up early for and really do set you up for a relaxing day. This is the perfect place to stop, relax and remember what is truly important in life - family. Thank you so much for a wonderful Christmas.

Perfect wedding venue

  • 5 of 5

The property and the home were absolutely beautiful. We loved that our wedding guests could stay in the house and there was plenty of room and activities—game room, rowboats, campfire—for 16 people. Our wedding guests were raving about it.

Beautiful wedding venue

  • 5 of 5

The property and the home are both absolutely beautiful. We held our wedding there on a Saturday evening and our wedding party stayed for the whole weekend. It was perfect! Plenty of space for everyone and tons of activities—game room, rowboats, campfire—for in between wedding activities. The home had everything we needed—laundry, fully stocked kitchen, reliable wifi. Everyone who attended the wedding could not stop raving about it.

a tradition

  • 5 of 5

This was our 5th year at Spruce Lake and it was another wonderful week. The house and the grounds offer so much that we barely leave the property! The kids have been coming here most (or all) of their short lives and count Spruce Lake as one of their favorite places in the world. The adults feel the same. We will see you in 2016, Spruce Lake!

HomeAway assumes that "one week" is 7 nights. For us, one week is 7 days (6 nights).
From Memorial Day to Labor Day our minimum stay is 6 nights, but for the first two weeks of June our minimum stay is 3 nights.
At other times of the year our minimum stay is 2 nights.

HomeAway makes it difficult to charge progressively lower amounts for additional nights, so our "Standard Rate" in the rate table is based on a one week (six night) stay. For stays shorter than that, rates in Fall/Winter/Spring are as follows: 2 nts = $1900, 3 nts = $2500, 4 nts = $3000, 5 nts = $3400, 6 nts = $3700. Each additional night beyond that is only $300.
