I thought the house was just what my wife and I were looking for. We loved being in town and within walking distance to just about everything that we go and do. The yard in the back was perfect for our dog and was bigger than I thought it would be. The Grill was very nice and also better than I thought it would be. We had no issues with the interior of the house and liked the open layout. We have been going to Chincoteague every summer for the last 10 years and this experience was one of the best. We will look to come back again this year or next summer and we will strongly recommend the property to anyone who asks.
Normally when we have stayed in Chincoteague, we have chosen a location on the water for the great views and boat/fishing access. This time we wanted to bring our two dogs, so we compromised on location. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the convenience of being in town. We could walk to the bay, restaurants, sugar bakers bakery, grocery store, ice cream parlor, flea market, art show, and fish market. There are even places to fish and launch a boat right close by. The house also had a propane grill and fenced in yard which was great for the dogs. Also, they had two kayaks and three functioning bicycles (two others had tire issues), which was great for touring the island. The island is not particularly pet friendly (no pets in Assateague or at Memorial Park, but we did find one nice park on Hallie Whealton Smith Drive. The house was nice and clean and functional. It is an old house and bathrooms were a tight squeeze but it had everything we needed. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies and even coffee filters and spices, so that was a big help.
We had the house to maximum plenty off room for 8 adults only bad thing I can say is it needs some work but other then that it has every thing you need to have a great vacation the neighbors were great to thanks Kevin
Great experience - we were here for a family reunion -- The house was clean, spacious and bright. The one maintenance request was responded to and repaired in less than an hour (amazing!) This is a great location, very convienent to everything. Grocery a short one block walk. We enjoyed using the bikes all around town and to the seashore several days. Also within easy drive to great nearby attractions. We went to the MD end of Assateague and golfing in MD and to the NASA Wallops Island Research Center. They were launching rockets the day we went - fun & educational. We ate about 2/3 of our meals at the house and 1/3 at good restaurants with in walking or biking distance. BE SURE to visit the Island Creamery for Ice Cream.
Just got back today, and had to write a review. My family spent two nights at this house in Chincoteague.
This property is very friendly and inviting. This home is located just steps from downtown, shops, restaurants and the pier. The location is a short drive, pretty much a straight shot to the south entrance to Assateague Island National Park. In a car it is just minutes from the beach.
The property has three bedrooms and three bathrooms on two levels. The bedrooms were spacious. The bedrooms and bathroom were extremely clean with a comfortable mattress. The water pressure was great and the hot water was plentiful. The WiFi is free. The kitchen was spacious, and the selection of books in the house was awesome. There was plenty of space to wind down and relax. A grocery store is a few blocks away as well as a convenience store with gas.
Fortunately the weather was very nice and we were able to get out and go biking to the Assateague Island National Park and go walking in the downtown area. This past weekend was oyster week. At the end of the block is a restaurant named Bill’s Seafood. We tried the crab oyster and fried oysters. They were so fresh and fabulous, and the crab cakes were awesome. We went there the next morning to get breakfast and it was great as well.
Our week-end there went by too quickly and it was a shame to leave! I would definitely recommend this location to anyone who wants a relaxing week/weekend.
The gentleman that owns the property was fantastic! He was very gracious, helpful, and available. Will definitely come back and stay again!
We come from DC area. We spend 4 nights in this house. We are get the good experience here. We ride the bike around the island and it is really nice feeling. For the house, you get what you want for the stay excepts the one window curtain has a little bit broken but nothing bother your stay. If possible, I will rent this house again. Thanks, Kevin.
