A Restful Retreat In The Mountains Of Western North Carolina

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 8

Enjoy a quiet retreat in a private wooded setting nestled in the WNC mountains, just outside of Brevard. Although you may feel remote, you'll actually be an amazing short drive to many destinations, that is sure to please anyone! The house was built in a free-flowing floor plan (all rooms connect, no hallways), which was common in rural areas. This older house has a full kitchen, dining room and large family area that has room to stretch out and relax. There are three bedrooms and a large bathroom that is built at the end of the house. The yard has a fire pit that you can enjoy and there is small charcoal grill to cook on. Under the canopy of a huge oak is a homemade picnic table and a two person swing. Here in Transylvania County we have 3 different park lands that provide miles of hiking, biking and horse trails. Fly-fishing, water tubing, rock climbing & picnicking and don't forget to view some of our 250 waterfalls. You are less than 5 miles from the Pisgah National Forest, 15 minutes to DuPont State Park and 30 minutes to Gorges State Park. If the outdoors aren't to your liking, you are just minutes away from Brevard, for dining, art/crafts, music and shops. If you get a chance, check out some of our festivals.

A private mountain!

  • 5 of 5

We are from Jacksonville, FL. And wanted to get away with our boys for a nice "Fall" weekend. My boys loved the privacy of being on a large piece of property and enjoyed the fire pit every night.

The owners were awesome to us. The house was decorated with Halloween and Fall decorations throughout the house and property, along with a bowl full of candy and everything we needed to make Smores. I mentioned to the owners beforehand that my son was really excited to make a fire, and she told us that there would be plenty of wood for us! And there was plenty, chopped and ready to go. As an added bonus, there was a box with lint and toilet paper roll tube as an easy fire starter. We found that extremely clever and it worked like a charm. We really enjoyed our short time there. We are not used to privacy that a huge lot of land gives you. So this was great. We did go to the Biltmore Estate and it was about 40 minutes away. This was so much nicer than staying in a hotel. Overall, I am so glad we discovered this little home on the side of a mountain and we hope to return someday in the future.

We had a very nice weekend in a lovely quiet place.

  • 4 of 5

It is a very nice house, restful, quiet and surrounded by lovely fall colors. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and on a rainy Sunday, the house was a cozy place for reading. The house is well furnished with everything we needed. We brought our own food. of course and enjoyed cooking on a great gas stove.

It was everything I could hope for and more. Everything that you forgot to pack was there. It was quite and peaceful. The home and grounds are very well kept.

Cozy, Clean, and Comforable

  • 4 of 5

The place had the feel of the cottages in the Catskills I recall as a child -- safe and cozy while buried in the woods. The floor plan is odd in that the rooms all adjoin by doors with no hallways, which added a unique feel. There were fans whirring in every room and open screened windows all adding to that real summer cabin feel. Window A/C units are there if you want them, but I didn't -- the place is shaded and was not oppressively hot without the A/C. The small kitchen delivered -- there was nothing you could want for with locations of everything printed clearly in the green binder supplied by the hosts. Beds were most comfortable, bathroom was roomy, and everything was clean as can be. My only complaint was that it was a little dark in places without much in bright artificial lighting available (for those of us who need it.) But I don't doubt the hosts would have run out and brought over a reading lamp if I had asked -- they were available, and very nice folks.

Very nice!!

  • 4 of 5

This place worked well for a friend weekend! It was a very hot weekend and we just used the fans and A/C units provided to keep the place cool leaving all the doors open and closing windows. One thing to note, is that the bathroom is not central, you will have to go through at least two of the rooms to get to it (only downside to this place). Fire pit was very nice with provided wood.
