Cypress Hideaway is the perfect location on Carmel Point, just 2 blocks from the famous, white-sand Carmel Beach, and 3 blocks from Carmel River Beach in a quiet neighborhood. It is a lovely multi-level, redwood home with high open-beam ceilings that is spacious yet retains a cozy feel. It has a wood-burning fireplace, unique with a log built into the hearth area that came straight from Carmel River Beach about 40 years ago. It was designed and built with a love of nature, in a 'U' shape surrounding a large California Oak tree that sits beautifully in the center portion of the property. A lovely, large hedge of Cypress trees offers the utmost feeling of privacy in the yard and house. The house has a nice front sitting patio, beautiful for morning coffee, a deck off the master bedroom, and another patio off the 3rd bedroom/studio. Cypress Hideaway has 3 nicely-sized bedrooms (one king bed, and two with queen beds), and 3 baths, one with a sunken tub above which is a skylight where you can gaze at the stars above. It has a small, but fully functioning kitchen with all new appliances, dishes, utensils...etc. Located within walking distance from the historical Carmel Mission, downtown Carmel with myriads of shops and restaurants to enjoy, and Carmel Mission Ranch dining overlooking Carmel River Beach. Cypress Hideaway is a perfect vacation get away for families or couples wanting to experience the beauty and charm of Carmel living.

Built in 1973 by my parents, we have kept this home in our family and have many fond memories in it. Family and friends gathered at our house over the years and shared great times there and at the nearby beaches. (We even won the grand-prize in the Carmel Beach Great Sand Castle Contest one year -- what fun!) I have fond memories of exploring tide pools at the beach as a young teen coming from the cold of Illinois where we'd moved from. The wood design was my father's (an artist) and the preservation of the california oak tree, and the cypress hedge was of the utmost importance to him when building the house. We have kept our home as a vacation rental so we can enjoy visits ourselves, and so we can have others also enjoy it and have great Carmel memories.
The woodsy feel of the house is special, and the many windows make you feel like you are outdoors. But with the tall hedges you also feel the utmost privacy. A wood-burning fire in the living room is so cozy. Of course, the short walk to the beach(es) makes this such a special location.
We had a mini-family reunion arranged at last minute in Carmel . I frantically started searching for a house to accommodate travelers from East and West Coast.
The pictures of Cypress Hideaway do not do it justice. The house is very private from the front, so hard to image the surprise and enjoyment we all got at the unique floor plan and the way the house wraps around a very large tree in the back. All bedrooms have access to individual decks that called us to set out and enjoy the privacy and ambiance.
Located within walking distance to the River beach and Carmel beach was all the more appealing. Morning walks along the Carmel coast are breathtaking. Definitely a lovely experience all in all! Thanks for allowing us the pleasure of a Cypress Hideaway stay.

Hidden away on the prestigious Carmel Point, is a gem of a Carmel charmer. The rustic and spacious home on three levels evokes the charisma the Monterey Peninsula is renown.
The property is well maintained with a very helpful caretaker at your call.
The living room has a beautiful fireplace and the kitchen is great if you are cooking in. The master bedroom has high ceilings and an attached bath. There is a lovely deck ajoining the bedroom. There is a downstairs suite and another bedroom and bath on the master bedroom level.
Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula has more restaurants than you could visit in a year! Noteable, Anton and Michele and Basil. Should you want to cook in, Bruno's has a great meat department and Neilson's supplies the gourmet in your traveling party.
The owner of the property was highly responsive and returned emails promptly.
I will return to this property when visiting the Monterey Peninsula in the future.
We rented this home for our family to attend a wedding at Mission Ranch. We loved it.
The location is fantastic. The home has amazing character and has a wonderful layout. Impossible not to relax and enjoy yourself!
The morning walks along the shore were amazing. Downtown Carmel is only one mile away. Perfect location and perfect atmosphere.
I hated to leave at the end of my five day stay! This light filled house is in an excellent location, close to Carmel River Beach and the point. My first impression of the house was that it was a bit creaky and worn, but in fact, there have been many updates to this classic charmer that made living there very comfortable. The bedrooms were wonderfully private and separate from the living area of the house, and the master bath had been recently redone. The living space was great for gathering extended family, and even on a stormy day, there is so much light and nature surrounding the windows, it was a lovely place to hang out!
One concern we had was that the kitchen is not ideal for cooking. There were plenty of plates, silverware and glassware, but pots and pans and lighting were in somewhat short supply. That said, the caretaker offered to run out and buy me a hand mixer for mashed potatoes, when I couldn't find the one that I did finally locate in a back drawer.
One other caution is that it wouldn't have suited my 88 year old dad who commented that there were too many stairs. For me, the many stairs helped burn off the holiday eating!
I have rented four houses in Carmel and this is the one I would return to without hesitation, a real gem!!
Nancy and her team did great job. We look forward to staying there again.
This property was less expensive than others in the area and was very spacious with three large bedrooms each of which had a sitting area and three full baths. The living/dining area was open and pleasant for group gathering. Everything worked and was clean.
A couple of things to consider - while the beach is a short walk there are no sidewalks. Not a big deal in daytime but walking back after sunset requires some care. We did not walk to downtown Carmel for dinner but Uber is here and that only cost $6.55. That walk would have been too long. The home furnishings and decor are best described as shabby chic. A bit worn and dated. Not a big deal for our group - the pictures were clear and accurate but for those seeking a more updated decor/kitchen this would not be the choice.
All said we had a wonderful time and would come again.
The location of the property s perfect. It is a five minute walk to the beach and close to restaurants and shops. The house is spacious and well equipped. We had everything we needed except for an outdoor barbecue. There is a small but nice patio area outside. The house is very outdated, however. Bathrooms at very small and appliances at old. Carpet, window coverings, furniture etc are very outdated. Sheets, towels, blankets need to be replaced.

Due to levels and stairs, I do not rent our home to families with toddler/preschool children or those under 5 or 6. I do not have safety gates on stairs. Older children love the house layout, levels and garden areas, as well as proximity to the beaches.
